Race 1: THANK YOU KERRY MERCER Maiden Plate 1000M
 
BOITUMELO – Began awkwardly.
 
BRIGHT FLAMES – When leaving the mounting enclosure, contacted the gate. On arrival at the barriers, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Trainer L. Barnes was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. Began awkwardly, shifted in and tightened HEROIC BEACH.
 
PRINCESS LUTETIA – Blundered on jumping and as a result dislodged apprentice Z. Sprie. Apprentice Sprie was immediately attended to by QAS officials and was subsequently stood down from his remaining engagements. Apprentice Sprie was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to next riding. PRINCESS LUTETIA contacted the enclosure gate before being caught and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities other than some minor scratches to the mare’s chest.
 
WET FAT CAT – Began awkwardly.
 
HEROIC BEACH – Tightened for room at the start. Apprentice T. Wheeler reported that the gelding, which was having its first start today, would derive significant benefit following this run.
 
FRENCH WISH – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 2: BAILEYS EARTHMOVING QTIS Class 3 Plate 1000M
 
HILL BILLY FLYER – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
WHERE'S TEKAY NOW – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 700m, raced in restricted room and was eased. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
LES GIRLS – Raced wide throughout.
 
ZIN ZAN READY – Slow to begin.
 
WHAT A DOOZY – Began awkwardly. Apprentice L. Martyn reported her mount hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
Race 3: G3 ENGINEERING BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1200M
 
ALL ABOUT LEWIS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment, Apprentice L. Martyn advised that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the event and believes that the large weight impost of 63.5kg in todays race had an effect on the overall performance.
 
CINTIA – Near the 900m, momentarily steadied when racing to the inside of THE WHITE MOUSE, which laid in. Improved onto heels leaving the 100m and as a result was not fully tested to the line.
 
I'M FAMOUS – Began awkwardly.
 
LE GAGNEUR – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, momentarily steadied from the heels of WHEN DOVES FLY (P. Carter) which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice P. Carter was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
THOUGHT CRIME (NZ) – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
TOY BLAZE – Fractious in the mounting enclosure, dislodging apprentice T. Wheeler on two occasions and subsequently was declared a late scratching at 2:49pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on TOY BLAZE be refunded with the following deductions to apply; 9c the win, 10c the place. Trainer L. Petersen was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners.
 
WHEN DOVES FLY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
CONTESSA NILE – Slow to begin.
 
THE WHITE MOUSE – Near the 900m, laid in across heels and had to be steadied.
 
KOHIKO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced in an extended period of time and was cleared to start.
 
Following this race, Apprentice T. Wheeler was examined by the QAS officials and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagement.
 
Race 4: LEON 'PANDA' GREEN MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1200M
 
GRAND DE LAGO – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
SMILING ZAC (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SHOTGUN DIVA – When there was no suitable apprentice available, Stewards permitted Jockey N. Thomas to replace Apprentice Z. Sprie. Near the 900m, steadied when tightened for room to the inside of LOUD ATTRACTION, which was taken in by GRAND DE LAGO (C. Ramsbotham), which shifted ground when not clear. Apprentice C. Ramsbotham was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Near the 300m, momentarily held up at the heels of MISS HELMUT.
 
LOUD ATTRACTION – Near the 900m, tightened for room and taken in when GRAND DE LAGO shifted in.
 
MISS HELMUT – Near the 600m, checked from the heels of GRAND DE LAGO (C. Ramsbotham) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice C. Ramsbotham was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5: HERITAGE BANK NANANGO BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600M
 
MARTINI DANCER – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment, jockey C. Meehan advised the mare travelled well during the event, however when placed under pressure, didn’t let down as expected. He added the mare may not have appreciated todays track conditions.
 
MAGIC OF MILLO – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
RAPID DUDE – In the early stages, over raced at the heels of RUDIMENTARY (P. Carter) when the pace of the race slackened. Apprentice P. Carter was advised to exercise greater care when reducing the pace.
 
ANTHROPICA – Near the 1200m, improved onto heels and was steadied.
