Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Jockey’s P Cullen and B Thomson requested to view the photo finish. After doing so they were satisfied and Correct Weight was declared on the judge’s placings.

ROCKET ON BOARD – Shortly after the start shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider and made heavy contact with the runner to its outside on two occasions.

WULFWIN – Shortly after the start was bumped heavily on two occasions.

EDITORIALE – Bumped heavily at the start and was then crowded between runners and lost ground.

PAYOLA – Commenced to buck shortly after the start and did so until passing the 700 metres. Trainer S Gabriel-Royes advised Stewards the mare would be immediately retired from racing. 1st – WATCH THE RED 2nd – BORN TO FIRE 3rd – AZUSA 4th – MURRUMBIDGEE

SMOOTH ELEMENT was a late scratching at 2.10pm after the mare refused to proceed to the barriers, reared over and dislodged Jockey T Chambers. When correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets placed on SMOOTH ELEMENT be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 2.10pm be subject to the following deductions of 37c win and 23c place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr J Jackson was advised the mare would be required to successfully complete a barrier trial prior to being permitted to start in a race again. Jockey T Chambers was assessed by Ambulance Officers and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements.

MURRIMBIDGEE – Trainer Mrs D Ballard advised Stewards of a change of tactics in that the gelding would be ridden more aggressively in today’s event. The gelding was ridden accordingly. Trainer Mrs D Ballard advised Stewards that following the gelding’s disappointing finishing effort today it would be immediately spelled. Mrs Ballard also advised that in the week preceding the gelding underwent blood tests all of which returned results within normal parameters.

SPURSYN – Slow into stride.

RAPID QUALO – Raced wide without cover throughout.
