------------

Race 1: XXXX Gold Class 6 Plate - 1400 metres
1st SPANISH HALO 2nd SPEEDSKATER 3rd ICE APPLE 4th - JOE KWILA

Prior to the race SPEEDSKATER (App. D. McWhinney) reared in its stable. The gelding was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon after arrival on course and cleared to start. Upon returning to the enclosure following the race, SPEEDSKATER had a small amount of blood in its nearside nostril. As this was attributable to external trauma, SPEEDSKATER was not declared to not have bled (AR 53A (7))

Race 2: Stockland Rockhampton Class 2 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st TRUSTY GREY 2nd MOICHEIA 3rd STAY THE NIGHT 4th - GLENDALE MAGIC

On jumping, MOICHEIA (D. Evans) bounded in the air.

HIDDEN REWARDS (C. McIver) slipped when the start was effected.

DUFFY (App. C. Pye) was slow to begin, and near the 900 metres when racing to the inside of GLENDALE MAGIC (D. Hayse) had to be steadied.

SECRET SCENE (L. Dillon) raced wide throughout.

STAY THE NIGHT (App. A. Kitson) raced greenly and shifted ground in the straight.

Stewards sought an explanation from App. C. Pye as to the instructions she had been given and the performance of DUFFY. App. Pye stated that she was instructed to race in a forward position behind the leaders if possible, however after being slow to begin the mare was placed under some pressure but failed to muster early speed. App. Pye said that she was unable to hold a forward or midfield position. Trainer C. Russell confirmed the instructions given to App. Pye and said that he had expected a better performance by DUFFY, however he was of the opinion that the mare, which was having its first start since a spell, would derive benefit from today's performance. A post-race veterinary examination of DUFFY did not reveal any significant abnormality.

Race 3: St Peter’s Primary School Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
1st GRANTLY MISS 2nd HARDCOVER 3rd MOON GUIDE 4th - SIX OF HEARTS

BELOGAN GINGERBEAR was a late scratching, at 11.51 am. when no rider was available.

HARDCOVER (A. Coome) began awkwardly.

SIX OF HEARTS (App. C. Pye) began awkwardly and then was slow into stride.

AKKABAK (App. B. Floyd) began awkwardly and shifted out onto VAULT BREAKER (J. Stephens).

GINDIAN MAID (T. Bannon) began awkwardly and shifted outwards.

BENERAZI (App. A. Kitson) was slow to begin.

Near the 900 metres DIAMONDS WITH TIME (App. D. McWhinney) was steadied from the heels of NO JO (App A Taylor) and when restrained lay out, and was further steadied from the heels of SIX OF HEARTS (App. C. Pye) and lost ground.

Leaving the 900 metres KINKY DAYS (D. Evans) improved onto heels and had to be restrained from the heels of MOON GUIDE (D. Hayes). In the incident ROSIE'S BON BON (L. Dillon) had to be eased from the heels of KINKY DAYS.

In the middle stages VAULT BREAKER (J. Stephens) was steadied from the heels of DIAMONDS WITH TIME (App. D. McWhinney).

Race 4: PFD Food Services Class 5 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st ARCUP 2nd DUMUZI 3rd ZOFA 4th - CANNY SWIM

When Jockey L. Dillon, the declared rider for ZOFA, was to be overweight and no senior rider was available, App. A. Kitson was substituted. App. Dillon was reprimanded under A.R. 120(b). In assessing penalty stewards took into account Jockey Dillon's exemplary record in this regard.

After being placed in the barriers DIABLE (D. Hayse) broke through, was quickly restrained, returned behind the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

DUMUZI (D. Evans) began awkwardly and shifted in onto ZOFA (App. A. Kitson).

ZENACITY (App. A. Taylor) was slow to begin.

Near the 950 metres QUANTUM FIRE (J. Stephens) lay in momentarily resulting in BOBERG (App. B. Floyd) being eased.

SILKY WARRIOR (App. D. McWhinney) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of BOBERG did not reveal any significant abnormality. Having regard to the most recent performances of BOBERG, stewards ordered that the mare must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

Race 5: Prime Properties Rockhampton Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st CYCLONE BILLY 2nd WESTERN YORK 3rd HOT SHOT SISTER 4th - NORDIC WARRIOR

HOT SHOT SISTER (App. C. Pye) and DELLIE (D. Evans) began awkwardly.

FRENCH GARRISON (App. D. McWhinney) began awkwardly and shifted out.

MAZOT (L. Dillon) lost its off fore place in running.

NORDIC WARRIOR (App. B. Floyd), FRENCH GARRISON (App. D. McWhinney) and WESTERN YORK (App. A. Kitson) raced wide throughout.

Jockey T. Bannon reported that QUIRT had attempted to begin quickly and had sprawled badly on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some soreness in front, in particular in the offside shoulder region, which was treated. Stewards will advise trainer K. Miller that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the mare's next start.
