Rowe, trainer of SECOND LAW, explained that he had instructed Jockey Dillon to take up a position back in the field rather than be forced to race wide. However, he was of the opinion that the circumstances would have allowed Jockey Dillon to settle further forward, but at that stage he was committed to ride to instructions and therefore restrained the horse to the rear of the field. Stewards noted Mr Rowe's explanation. Yeppoon, Saturday 3rd November Stewards questioned trainer L. Challacombe regarding the nomination, acceptance and subsequent scratching of NAZAR LAD from Race 3. It was established that NAZAR LAD had been nominated as an extended nomination and had raced on Thursday, 1 November 2012 at Rockhampton.
