Apprentice Aho was examined by the Ambulance Officers behind the barriers and cleared to fulfil her engagement. URBAN SPACEMAN was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Apprentice Aho was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100 metres.

ALOHA CAPTAIN - Began awkwardly and was slow to muster speed.

ITTY GRITTY - Slow to begin.

DRAGONMOSS - On returning to scale Jockey D. Hayse reported that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

OUR LUCKY LUCY - Near the 900 metres when racing greenly became awkward in its action for a stride.

WEREMEMBERZENNETH - Near the 900 metres had to be steadied to avoid heels. Apprentice Q. Krogh reported that it was not his intention to race as far back as he did today, however from the wide barrier and after travelling a short distance, he was of the view that he was going to be caught wide, and therefore he elected to restrain his mount and obtain a position with cover.

CAUSING MAYHEM - Near the 500 metres had to be steadied from the heels of PRETTY SENORITA (Jockey A. Butler), which shifted out. Jockey A. Butler was reprimanded.

Race 4: Thinkwater/Wandal Need & Feed BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st PRINCE DAN 2nd GEMINI KING 3rd PULSAR 4th - MYTHOLOGIST

MADAM PINK - Stewards afforded Apprentice S. Fawke the opportunity to commend on the seemingly disappointing performance of the mare. He stated that his instuctions were to lead in today's event, and in order to comply with his instructions he was soon challenged for the lead by MYTHOLOGIST and as a result he was unable to obtain the lead on his own. He added that he was of the view that this had a detrimental effect on the mare's performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was displaying a slow recovery rate.

Race 5: Coca Cola Amatil BenchMark 55 Handicap - 1600 metres
1st GODAVARI 2nd ENVIRONMENTAL 3rd FONDUE 4th - BARON REES

EYE WINSOME - Apprentice J. Orman replaced Apprentice N. Summers who was not riding at today's meeting. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, Apprentice Orman said that under the impost of 62.5 kg he was unable to muster sufficient early speed to obtain the outright lead, as were his instructions. He added that after travelling comfortably throughout, the gelding failed to quicken under his impost and proved disappointing.

THE CATHOLIC GIRL - Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition.

Race 6: Kalka Palms Hotel Motel Open Handicap - 1100 metres
1st- KUAIMA 2nd - TESTASCANA 3rd- COVERT 4th - FAST FOCUS

COVERT CHARMOUR - Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

FAST FOCUS - When questioned as to the disappointing performance, Apprentice J. Orman submitted that he enjoyed a favourable run throughout, but the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure near the 400 metres. Apprentice Orman noted that the gelding is best suited when its runs are well spaced.
