GENERAL:

Jockey A. Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under A.R. 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that in Race 1 he used his whip on OUR BOY HIPPY 3 more times than is permissible under the rule; in Race 2 as the rider of COPPER COIN he used his whip on 1 occasion more than is permissible; in Race 4, as the rider of BARON REES on 1 occasion more than is permissible; in race 5 as the rider of SHIGERU MAHOGANY ON 1 occasion more than is permissible. Jockey Butler's licence to ride in races was suspended to commence from midnight on 18th March 2016, up to and including 31st March 2016, a period of 13 days.

Jockey J. Stephens was fined a total of $300 for using his whip on ARGENTINA LAD in Race 2 on 3 more occasions than is permissible under the rule, and in Race 4 on INTIMATE KINGDOM on 3 more occasions than is permissible under the rule.

Race 1: Ian Weigh Motors Maiden Plate - 1050 metres
1st CLEVER STRYK 2nd OUR BOY HIPPY 3rd LIGHTNING ARTIST 4th - FRANKY COLD MEDINA

PRETTY SENORITA - The reason tendered for the late declaration of Jockey J. Stephens as rider of the mare was accepted.

MY FRIEND IRMA - Late scratching, at 12.32 p.m. when no suitable rider was available.

STOLEN GOODS - Slow to begin.

LIGHTNING ARTIST - Slow to begin.

FRANKY COLD MEDINA - Slow to begin.

CAN'T ESCAPE ME- Slow to begin. Near the 800 metres, when over-racing, over reacted when restrained and shifted out wider on the track.

EIRE'S LEGACY - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MORE VALUE - Stewards will inquire into the reasons for the horse arriving late on course.

Race 2: Griffin Builders QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st ARQUATAS 2nd COPPER COIN 3rd LOVEYAH JESSIE 4th - DYNAMIC DRAGON

MARIKIT'S DRAGON - Slow to begin. Near the 300 metres, steadied and shifted in across heels of another runner.

PERFUME PASSION - Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition.

ABE'S BABY - Made contact with another runner on jumping.

ARQUATAS - Contacted by another runner on jumping.

WHYMEGOD - Near the 300 metres when racing greenly ducked in and caused MARIKIT'S DRAGON to shift in across the heels of COPPER COIN. Raced wide without cover throughout.

DIZZI LIZZI - Raced wide with cover throughout.

Race 3: Tony Madden Architects & Interiors Class 3 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st ELLE THE MODEL 2nd KLISSTRA 3rd SPEEDREADER 4th - QUICK ASSAULT

QUICK ASSAULT - Became fractious and sat down behind prior to the race. The gelding was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

ELLE THE MODEL - Slow to begin.

SPEEDREADER - Stewards accepted the reason tendered by trainer B. Murray for the late declaration of Apprentice M. Haley as rider of the mare. Slow to begin.

FADED - Began awkwardly.

RACING HARADA - Dipped on jumping, then raced 3 wide without cover throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance Apprentice Q. Krogh stated that in the early stages he intended to go forward and take a position outside the leader, however his mount did not respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was suffering from a mild case of the thumps.

Race 4: Swanwick Murray Roche Lawyers St Patrick’s Day Cup BenchMark 55 Handicap - 1500 metres
1st CHLORIDE 2nd BARON REES 3rd BILO BAR 4th - RADIANT JOY

YARRANDI - Stewards accepted the reason tendered for the late declaration of Jockey D. Hayse as rider of the gelding.

CUPSTER - Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

LOGICAL OUTCOME - Raced wide without cover throughout. Apprentice N. Summers was fined $300 for using his whip on the gelding on 7 occasions more than is permissible under the rule.

BILO BAR - Near the 500 metres brushed the running rail.

CHLORIDE - Jockey D. Evans was fined $400 for use of his whip on the gelding on 6 occasions more than is permissible under the rule, 3 of which were in consecutive strides.

Race 5: Pat O’Driscoll Real Estate Class 2 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st OSSENHAGEN 2nd SHIGERU MAHOGANY 3rd HUMANISE 4th - HAKKASAN

SHIGERU MAHOGANY - Prior to the race connections advised stewards that, from its wide barrier, the gelding would be ridden back in the field. Public announcements were made to that effect and the horse was ridden accordingly, at the rear of the field.

MUM SAID NO - Blundered on jumping.

SOCIETY QUEEN - Raced wide without cover throughout.

MINI MINX - Raced wide with cover throughout.

Near the 600 metres FERRIGNO (Jockey D. Simmons) improved quickly onto the heels of MINI MINX (Jockey D. Hayse), became awkwardly placed and shifted out.

Leaving the 100 metres HUMANISE (Jockey S. Sheargold) shifted in, resulting in CINNABOLDA (Jockey D. Evans) having to be eased.

Race 6: Tropical Auto Group BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st - FINAL CHAPTER 2nd- SHEPIKTUS 3rd- PRINCELY 4th - JUST CALL ME LOUIE

POWER RANGER - Slow to begin.

EL CAPO - Slow to begin. Near the 900 metres and again near the 700 metres had to be restrained from heels. Apprentice Q. Krogh reported that his mount had finished the race off well and in his opinion may be better suited in races over longer distances.

Near the 900 metres ELJAY ATOM (Jockey M. Haley) commenced to lay in, and continued to do so and near the 700 metres, despite the efforts of its rider, caused GOWER (Jockey D. Simmons) to lay out across the heels of ELJAY ATOM. When ELJAY ATOM was corrected, shifted wider on the track.

Near the 500 metres EL CAPO shifted out and made heavy contact with PRICELESS HEART (Apprentice N. Summers).

SHEPIKTUS - A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was showing respiratory distress, which was attributed to heat stress, and was treated accordingly.
