SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Rockhampton 18th June 2016

Race 1: Stewards questioned trainer Cassandra Marsh in relation to the nomination, acceptance and scratching of TIP RAT. She stated that she had nominated the horse late, due to the Class of the event, and after acceptances was unable to organise transport for the horse as she had runners entered at another venue. Stewards accepted the explanation.

Race 1: Giddy Goat Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st GIVEN WINGS 2nd TWO OF A KIND 3rd BAR STORIES 4th - DRAGONMOSS

SCATTERED SHOWERS - Late scratching at 9.55 a.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the mare had an elevated temperature.

MAMBO MISS - When Jockey N. Day was late arriving on course, Jockey Beau. Appo was substituted.

GIVEN WINGS - As Apprentice N. Vuille was unable to claim her full allowance, Apprentice L. Tilley was substituted. Shifted out at the start, taking BAR STORIES out onto CHANGEINTHEVALLEY.

HAYYLER'S TARY - At the start shifted in and hampered CHANGEINTHEVALLEY (Apprentice R. Payne), which lost ground. Shortly afterwards HAYYLER'S TARY shifted out and bumped WATTO'S JET (Apprentice S. Lacy). Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

WATTO'S JET - Raced wide with cover. When questioned with regard to performance, Apprentice Lacy questioned stated that her mount was disappointing. She said that after beginning fairly, the gelding failed to muster speed and when placed under pressure at the 400 metres was inclined to lay in and shift ground in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Trainer J. Wehlow was fined $100 for failing to provide Identification Cards for GIVEN WINGS and KURAMOS (Races 1 and 2)

Race 2: Capricorn Rewind And Electrical QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
1st RUSTY SCOOTER 2nd GAI OF THE GALAXY 3rd BENEVOLENT LAD 4th - SNIP 'N' DRIFT

MAGIC EIGHT BALL - Began awkwardly, was steadied to avoid the heels of KURAMOS and lost ground. Raced wide with cover.

CRAIGLEA CEON - Raced wide with cover.

CRAIGLEA EPSOM - Raced wide without cover throughout.

BENEVOLENT LAD - Near the 1000 metres shifted out and made contact with CRAIGLEA PUMA, which shifted out.

Race 3: Larsen’s Airconditioning Hire BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st GYPSY SECRET 2nd OSSENHAGEN 3rd ELSPETH'S STAR 4th - HAPPY SHOPPO

DE MESTRE - Began awkwardly. At the 700 metres when over-racing shifted out away from the heels of GYPSY SECRET.

ONEHUNDREDCLICKS - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred shortly after the winning post when ELSPETH'S STAR (App. N. Summers) laid in and caused HAPPY SHOPPO (Jockey S. Sheargold) to be tightened, contact the running rail and lose its footing. Stewards were mindful that Apprentice Summers had attempted to prevent her mount from shifting ground, nevertheless she was reprimanded and advised to use more effort.

Race 4: IPG Print BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st VAINACIOUS 2nd EKKLESTONE 3rd GOWER 4th - HALFBLOOD PRINCE

GOWER - Began awkwardly.

BARCELONA BOUND - Slow to begin.

EKKLESTONE - Raced wide without cover throughout.

MYTHOLOGIST - Near the 900 metres over-raced and shifted to the outside of GOWER. Near the 800 metres was checked and lost its rightful running. Apprentice N. Summers pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that she used insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in and caused MYTHOLOGIST to be checked. Apprentice Summers was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on 13th August 2016, up to and including 27th August 2016 (14 days).

SANOSUKE - Stewards questioned Jockey B. Stewart as to why he had failed to take advantage of runs that presented forward of him in the straight. Jockey Stewart said he was a committed to a run to the outside prior to a run being available and furthermore that his mount was not travelling well enough to take the run between HALFBLOOD PRINCE and EKKLESTONE, and from the 100 metres his mount was held up and unable to be fully tested.

Race 5: Rosslyn Bay Resort Class 3 Plate - 1500 metres
1st TURKEY BEACH 2nd TREMONT 3rd WINSOMEMORE 4th - PULSAR

TURKEY BEACH - Jumped out onto PULSAR (App. Z. White), which was hampered and lost ground when taken out onto COOL DAYS (Jockey B. Appo).

BILO BAR - Raced wide without cover throughout.

MIDNIGHT STALKER - Raced wide without cover throughout.

CUPSTER - Raced wide with cover.

TREMONT - Was inclined to lay in from the 400 metres. Near the 150 metres appeared to be accidentally struck over the head by the whip of App. S. Lacy, the rider of TURKEY BEACH. Jockey B. Stewart was fined $300 under A.R. 137A, for using his whip on TREMONT on 6 more occasions than permitted by the Rule. In determining penalty stewards were mindful of Jockey Stewart's improved record in regard to the rule, and the mannerisms of the horse on this particular occasion.

Race 6: USG Boral Class 6 Plate - 1100 metres
1st- MIDNIGHT CURFEW 2nd - EL CAPO 3rd- WILDEBEAST 4th - MAHRAJAAN

SUIT - Was a late scratching, at 2.30 p.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice.

EVENTIDE - Stood flat-footed at the start and was slow to begin.

SON OF A WARRIOR - Raced wide without cover throughout.

CHEERING - Near the 100 metres laid in across the heels of WILDEBEAST.

WILDEBEAST - Apprentice C. Jokic reported that her mount was inclined to hang in throughout.

EL CAPO - Jockey J. P. Stanley reported that his mount laid in under pressure over the final 400 metres and was unable to be fully tested.

Race 7: XXXX Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st FLY ONCE MORE 2nd FONDUE 3rd FRANKY COLD MEDINA 4th - COLOUR ME GREY

METALLIC POINT - Upon arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the mare at 4.44 p.m and was found to be mildly lame in the near foreleg. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on the mare be refunded and that the following deductions apply:

11¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, FLY ONCE MORE
11¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, FONDUE
12¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, FRANKY COLD MEDINA

CAPTAIN ADRIATIC - Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards reviewed the patrol films of the start. It was established that as the start was effected the gelding reared, which resulted in it getting its legs over the barrier partition and taking no further part in the event. Trainer J. Pointon was told that he must provide a barrier certificate before CAPTAIN ADRIATIC will be permitted to race again.

SAMMY SPARROW - Bounded in the air at the start.

COLOUR ME GREY - Began a little awkwardly.

FRANKY COLD MEDINA - When Apprentice N. Vuille was unable to claim her full allowance, Apprentice S. Lacy was substituted. Apprentice Vuille was fined $200 under A.R. 92(12).

BARBOUGE - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

HOT LOVE HIGHWAY - Near the 900 metres rolled in slightly and caused COLOUR ME GREY to steady. Raced wide without cover.

HIDDEN THUNDER - Raced wide without cover.

FRANKY COLD MEDINA - Was slow to begin.
