Rowe reported that upon returning to his stable LEGAL TIES showed signs of being in season.Race 1: IRONMONGER SHIPPING AGENCIES QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050MTrainer T. Button was fined $100 for failing to declare R. Wiggins as the rider of WOOHOO GIRL by the prescribed time.TYCOON FLYER – Has to be steadied from WOOHOO GIRL’S heels passing the 900m. Hung out rounding the home turn.WOOHOO GIRL – R. Wiggins reported that the filly failed to settle for the majority of the event and when placed under pressure failed to finish off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.MISS CLAIR – Slow to begin.Race 2: REES R SYDNEY JONES OPEN H’CAP – 1400MAVONACO – Raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the 900m improved on to heels and was steadied for a short distance.CONCA DEL SOGNO – Bumped JUST CALL ME LOUIE leaving the 300m and laid in under pressure for the remainder of the event.TAMBO’S HEART – Began awkwardly and lost ground.JUST CALL ME LOUIE – Bumped near the 300m.DON’T WE LOVE IT – Attempted to buck shortly after the start for a considerable distance. Trainer J. O’Sing was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.FINAL HOPE – Laid in over the concluding stages.Race 3: VICTORIA TAVERN BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1100MThe declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow R. McMahon, the rider of OSSENHAGEN, to view the film of the start of the race to ascertain whether his mount had been afforded a fair start. On reviewing the films, stewards established that the barrier gate of OSSENHAGEN had failed to open in unison with the other barrier gates, and acting under the provisions of AR. 134A declared the horse a non-starter. Prior to the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on OSSENHAGEN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:11 cents in the dollar for the win #220 cents in the dollar for place of winner #28 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5The Starter advised that the barriers were retested prior to the running of Race 4 without concern.BEAT STREET – Raced in restricted room near the 900m.UTHRED – Slow to begin.JACK LANCASTER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.CHEEKY RED – Began awkwardly.Race 4: ONSITE FLEET MAINTENANCE QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1050MSTORMINA was a late scratching at 3:15 pm on veterinary advice that the horse was lame in the off foreleg after pulling a shoe en route to the course. Trainer S. Rundle was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.LAST CHANCE – Hung out throughout.DRAGON PINS – Slow to begin. Shifted wider on the track near the 400m to obtain clear running.MISS MANIBEL – Raced in restricted room approaching the 900m and had to be steadied when GYPSY TOFF (A. Butler) shifted in. A. Butler was advised to exercise more care.Race 5: NEW HORIZONS AND TRAINING SERVICES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300MMEATBALL – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from the heels of TWIST EDGEROI approaching the 200m.KUNGA GEORGE MUNGA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When questioned regarding his riding in the home straight, M. Barnham advised that the gelding is a big striding horse and in previous starts has been held up on occasions and unable to secure clear running over the final stages. He stated that the instructions today were to obtain clear running in the straight and in doing so near the 200m he commenced to shift wider to secure clear running and his mount finished the race off well. He added that in his opinion the gelding would be more suited in races of greater distance than that of today’s event. Trainer J. Lancaster confirmed the instructions. Stewards noted the explanation. TRIDACNA – C. Whiteley reported that his mount did not appreciate the firm track and laid in over the concluding stages.FIZGIG – Hung out throughout and proved uncompetitive. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer S. Rundle will be advised that mare will be required to undergo a further barrier trial prior to racing again.TWIST EDGEROI – Slow to begin.DYDEE’S GIRL – Had to be checked near the 900m when FIZGIG hung in despite the efforts of its rider.GRAN CHICO – Rider R. McMahon was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out fully to the line.BONNCHELON – Rider N. Summers reported that the gelding was inclined to lay out for the majority.Race 6: 2019 RACING GALA BALL – SAT 23 MARCH CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1050MTHE VOLTO was a late scratching at 8:10 when no rider was available at the allotted weight.Trainer B. Fitzgerald was fined $100 for failing to declare M. Stephens as the rider of JABBS by the prescribed time.FOXSULT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover throughout.I AM DAN – Slow to begin. Hung out and raced ungenerously in the middle stages.MISS READY NOW – Had difficulty securing clear running from the 400m until the 200m. SEA PRAISE – Inconvenienced when JABBS commenced to weaken and had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance near the 400m.JABBS – Raced wide without cover. Race 7: 30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – JAIME PARNELL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1300MRHYOLA was a late scratching at 4:10 pm when the horse was injured en route to the course. Trainer T. Button was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.After the running of this event rider R. McMahon (MR PHENOMENAL) upon returning to scale was dislodged from his mount and returned to the enclosure uninjured.DAMN FINE – Rider A. Butler returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his allotted weight and was fined $300.LUCIFER’S ANGEL – Began awkwardly.MAEVE IN MANHATTAN – Raced wide in the early stages. PERETTI – T. Doyle reported that the mare overraced in the early and middle stages and when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond.
