GENERAL
 
Due to predicted sultry weather conditions, this race meeting was conducted within the provisions of the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Caring for Racing Animals in Extreme Heat Policy – Level 1.
 
Race 1: HOPKINS BROTHERS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1050M
 
SLAYDEM – Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
 
ZABRING – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
BROOK’S PLEASURE – Trainer G. Bell was reprimanded for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identification Card. Held up for clear running from the vicinity of the 300m until inside the 100m and was obliged to shift wider on the track to improve into clear running.
 
STORMINA – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
FAY ELEMENT – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 100m to avoid the heels of BROOK’S PLEASURE, which shifted in when not fully clear. N. Day, the rider of BROOK’S PLEASURE, was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and reminded of his obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.
 
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 2: WINSTONDALE SPRAYING CONTRACTORS QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1050M
 
MASTER JAMIE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
 
BLACK SAGA – Reared on jumping away. Shifted in and away from BONNY’S TREASURE in the vicinity of the 900m, tightening BLUE INSTINCT.
 
SIDINA – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BLUE INSTINCT – Obliged to steady in the vicinity of the 900m to avoid the heels of BLACK SAGA, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Race 3: PKF OPEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
EXECUTED – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, jockey B. Pengelly stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the race and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
 
BARACHIEL – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up from the vicinity of the 200m until approaching the 100m and was obliged to shift wider on the track to improve.
 
WORTHY HERO – Hampered on jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
SPRING CREEK – Jumped away awkwardly and shortly thereafter shifted in, contacting MACHO TYCOON.
 
GUISSOLA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
MARWAY – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages of the event. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, jockey N. Day stated that his mount weakened noticeably over the concluding stages but would take benefit from the run, being first up this preparation.
 
MACHO TYCOON – Hampered shortly after jumping away.
 
Race 4: JRT/CQ CAPRAS BREEDERS PLATE QTIS 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
EURO NO GO ZONE – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the middle stages.
 
GOLDEN FEATURES – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
POINTO’S PICK – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
QUEEN OF STYLE – Jumped awkwardly. Raced in restricted room in the vicinity of the 700m to the inside of CHAMPAGNE TROUBLE, which laid in.
 
SERIOUSTEMPTATION – Dislodged its rider leaving the mounting enclosure and was required to be resaddled.
 
SILVER LUCY – Hampered on jumping away. Obliged to steady in the vicinity of the 800m after improving on to the heels of EURO NO GO ZONE. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
MISS LOT WON – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
CHAMPAGNE TROUBLE – Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
 
Race 5: JRT/CQ CAPRAS BREEDERS PLATE QTIS 2YO C&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
AERIAL COMBAT – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 200m to avoid the heels of HE’S A WILD ONE, which shifted in abruptly.
 
ASK ME TOMORROW – Laid out under pressure in the straight and in the vicinity of the 300m was momentarily inconvenienced by IRISH RING KICKER, which laid in.
 
AUSSIE HERO – Hung out severely in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. Trainer Mr C. Thompson was advised that AUSSIE HERO would be required to trial prior to resuming racing.
 
BITTERGREYMAGIC – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
HE’S A WILD ONE – Overraced in the early stages. Shifted in abruptly in the vicinity of the 200m despite the efforts of its rider, inconveniencing AERIAL COMBAT. Trainer T. Schofield was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of HE’S A WILD ONE.
 
MATAGORDA – Difficult to load. Trainer Mr G. Green was advised that MATAGORDA would be required to pass an official barrier trial prior to resuming racing. Overraced in the early and middle stages and in the vicinity of the 800m was obliged to steady after improving on to heels.
 
IRISH RING KICKER – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 6: XXXX GOLD CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200M
 
MAGIC WU – Slow to begin.
 
VOICEOVER – Jumped away awkwardly. Rider R. Oakford reported that his mount began to weaken noticeably under pressure in the straight and made abnormal breathing noises and as a result he elected to not place VOICEOVER under pressure over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the presence of a breathing problem and as such trainer Mr G. Green was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to racing again.
 
DOOM – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
HOWICK – Slow to begin. Momentarily inconvenienced in the vicinity of the 600m by MISS DE MIRAGE, which shifted out to improve.
 
ELEGANT ZOUS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SHENRON – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung out throughout and as a result raced wide throughout.
 
Race 7: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALES 2020 – 3, 4 & 5 APRIL CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1400M
 
SIR HARRY – Laid in under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
WHOOSH – Raced wide throughout.
 
MEATBALL – Overraced in the early and middle stages and in the vicinity of the 1000m was obliged to steady after improving on to heels.
 
QUESTIONS ANSWERED – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
TOO MUCH LIP – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
FINUCANE MISSILE – Slow to begin.
