SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
ROCKHAMPTON 17TH OCTOBER 2020
CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE CHAMPIONSHIP QTIS 4&5YO HCP 1300M
HEZHOME – Upon return to the stable, Trainer C Smith reported the results of an endoscopic examination which revealed HEZHOME had lymphoid hyperplasia. Mr Smith further advised that HEZHOME would be sent for an immediate spell. He added that he would furnish the results of a further endoscopic examination once HEZHOME had returned to his stable.
RACE 3 – ADLEC ELECTRICAL MDN HANDICAP 1200M
DEAL – Trainer C. Taylor since reported that DEAL had a pulled up poorly from its disappointing performance and had bloods sent away for analysis. The bloods have since shown that DEAL to be potentially showing signs of folic acid deficiency as well as excessive allergy activity. Mr Taylor has advised that DEAL had since been treated and he would continue with the campaign.
RACE 6 – MILNE BROS CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1050M
RAIDEN – Trainer J. Manzelmann since reported that RAIDEN had pulled up well following its disappointing performance and reiterated the statements from the Stable representative that the weight it carried was the main factor for its disappointing performance. He further added that he would freshen RAIDEN up and continue with its current campaign.
MACKAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 2020 – NQ CLASSIC QTIS 3&4YO BM65 HCP 1800M
Rider Z. White pleaded guilty to a charge under AR211 in that she returned to scale more than half a kilo overweight. Jockey Z. White was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence on midnight 21st October 2020 and to expire on midnight 31st October. When assessing penalty, stewards took into account Ms Whites record, her guilty plea, penalty precedents, the extent Ms. White was overweight and the fact VAMPARINA was beaten 0.2L for second.
GENERAL
Brisvegas, Galapagos, Jay Jay & Varsity were all pre-race examined by the on-course veterinarian after competing in the past seven days and were passed fit to start.
Race 1: RQ SUPPORTS SAFETY IN RACING Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
El Diez – Jumped away awkwardly shifting in abruptly contacting ROCK ‘N’ BLITZ. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure on entering the home straight and passing the 600m, was brushed on a number of occasions by PROVOCATIVE MAN who shifted out when attempting to improve. Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $400 for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permissible under the rule.
Do It For Viv – Shifted out shortly after jumping away contacting INVESTIBLE. Laid out in the early stages.
Fizz – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight on the heels of DO IT FOR VIV until passing the 400m.
Rock'n Blitz – Hampered on jumping.
Barbican – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after an incident on the float en route to the track and was passed fit to start. Raced wide in the early stages and laid in rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the poor performance, apprentice M. Potgieter reported that he was instructed to be positive on the horse and to attempt to obtain cover. He added that after being trapped wide in the early stages, settled further forward than originally anticipated and when place under pressure in the home straight, his mount weakened noticeably and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
Presley Road – Slow to begin and had to be steadied off heels shortly after.
Blame It On Paris – Trainer Z. Hohn’s explanation for the late rider declaration was accepted. Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
Investible – Jumped away awkwardly shifting out abruptly.
Provocative Man – Severely hampered on jumping. Passing the 700m, became awkwardly placed whilst racing in restricted room between FIZZ and EL DIEZ. Shortly after entering the home straight, was held up for clear running on the heels of ROCK ‘N’ BLITZ and when attempting to shift out into clear running, brushed with EL DIEZ on a number of occasions. Approaching the 400m, was able to shift out and obtain clear running.
Thorben – Hampered on jumping. Overraced in the early stages. Passing the 500m, had to be eased off the heels of PROVOCATIVE MAN.
Race 2: BREEDER'S PLATE RACEDAY FRIDAY 6 NOVEMBER 2020 Class 3 Handicap 1300 metres
Srini – Jockey A. Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 9 times prior to the 100m and his license was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 24th October 2020 and to expire midnight 4th November 2020.
Applicant – Commenced to overrace shortly after jumping away when attempting to obtain cover.
Froze – Slow to begin.
Genoa – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages and ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the rail.
Miss Star – Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Momentarily inconvenienced by FROZE passing the 300m.
Race 3: SMW GROUP Class 6 Plate 1200 metres
Mr Tindall – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Chinchinbilla – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 11.50am after injuring itself en route to the track. Trainer B. Johnson was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to CHINCHINBILLA accepting for a future race.
Rockethead – Overraced in the early stages.
Vamparina – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 4: SOUTH GELDARD LAWYERS Class 3 Plate 1050 metres
Charles Seven – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide throughout.
Santorini Summer – Contacted on jumping. When questioned regarding the poor performance, rider J. Stanley stated that his mount travelled well throughout but when placed under pressure in the home straight, SANTORINI SUMMER failed to respond to his urgings and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. He further added that on entering the home straight, he was mindful of racing behind the heels of VERNAZZA, who was first up today and had been racing over shorter distances. He anticipated that VERNAZZA could weaken noticeably following the fast, early tempo and as such elected to shift out to enable him an uninterrupted run in the straight. Trainer J. McConachy advised that even though a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities, he would furnish the results of a veterinary certificate of fitness including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to a future race start.
Bondage – Overraced in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
Dip Dye – Jumped awkwardly abruptly shifting in contacting SANTORINI SUMMER.
Miss Ready Now - Laid in under pressure in the early part of the straight and raced keenly over the concluding stages.
Race 5: ADVANCED EXHAUSTS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metres
Dr Neigh – When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey J. Stanley reported that in his opinion DR NEIGH was inclined to lay in under pressure throughout the home straight and got its tongue over the bit and couldn’t be fully tested over the concluding stages as a result. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer T. Cook reported that DR NEIGH would now be spelled and would experiment with gear prior to its next start.
Zeblan – Approaching the 1200m, commenced to overrace after being crossed by MARINSARA and continued to race fiercely for a number of strides. When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey C. Whiteley reported that ZEBLAN travelled comfortably throughout, however when asked for an effort in the home straight, ZEBLAN failed to respond to his riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. Trainer O. Cairns reported that she could offer no explanation for the poor performance but stated that she would report back to stewards on the condition of ZEBLAN in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Sharindi – At the trainer request, SHARINDI underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, after it was reported that SHARINDI was fractious in its stall pre-race and was passed fit to start.
I Feel Real – In the vicinity of the 1000m, had to be restrained for several strides to avoid the heels of ARTEMIS GIRL who was carried in by SHE’S OUR EMPRESS which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Artemis Girl – Approaching the 1200m, commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of ZEBLAN. In the vicinity of the 1000m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SHE’S OUR EMPRESS, which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
Bernie Beel – Hampered on jumping.
Marinasara – In the vicinity of the 1000m, had to be checked and as a result, clipped the heels of ARTEMIS GIRL, who was carried in by SHE’S OUR EMPRESS, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Pulcheria – Raced wide throughout.
She's Our Empress – Shifted in shortly after jumping making contact with BERNIE BEEL. In the vicinity of the 1000m, shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Laid in under pressure for the remainder of the event.
Race 6: CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER/BEEF CITY CUP OPEN Handicap 1300 metres
Bogey Man – Overraced in the early stages. After being trapped wide in the early stages, elected his mount to stride forward and take up a position outside the lead.
Spring Creek – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey C. Whiteley could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and in his opinion, may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer J. O’Shea reported that SPRING CREEK would now be spelled.
Heyington – Slow to begin.
Daunting Queen – Approaching the 900m, commenced to overrace for a number of strides after being crossed. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Galapagos – Approaching the 1000m, overraced and had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of BOGEY MAN. Rider R. Faehr reported that his mount failed to settle in the early stages and as a result, elected his mount to stride forward and take up a position outside the lead.
Jay Jay – Rider A. Sewell was fined $400 for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permissible under the rule.
Proane – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride as a result.
Gambit – Overraced in the early stages.
Race 7: CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER XXXX GOLD Fillies & Mares Class 6 Plate 1400 metres
Rather Silky – Had to be restrained passing the 900m after improving onto the heels of BUFFY.
Scorcha – A post-race veterinary examination of SCORCHA which weakened noticeably in the straight revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T. Cook subsequently reported that SCORCHA to be lame in the near hind leg on return to his stable. He advised that SCORCHA would now be spelled and would report back on the future racing career of the mare. Trainer T. Cook was advised that he would be required to furnish a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to a future race start.
Buffy – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Cabalo Escuro – Overrcaced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Scent Of Fear – Approaching the 200m for a number of strides was unable to improve and raced in restricted room between CABALO ESCURO and SCORCHA who was weakening.
Strawberry Blonde – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Race 8: TWIGGY'S GET OUT STAKES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres
Not Liable – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Tokai Meigetsu – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Flat To Stack – Hung in under pressure in the straight and approaching the 100m, became held up for clear running and was unable to fully tested over the concluding stages.
Torriente – Jockey M. Murphy was found guilty of a charge under AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the finish and was fined $500.
We Want It All – Reared as the start was affected and as a result was slow into stride. Approaching the 400m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of GLADISHING which shifted out when attempting to improve. Shortly thereafter, was shifted back in but again became awkwardly placed on the heels of GLADISHING which shifted inwards in an attempt to improve.
Aussie Tycoon – Jumped away awkwardly.
Gladishing – After being advised that Jockey B. Appo was unable to make the weight, stewards permitted B. Appo to ride GLADISHING half a kilo over its allotted weight as there was no other rider available. Jockey Appo was reprimanded under AR190(3). Approaching the 400m, was shifted out around the heels of DELIUS in an attempt to improve, but shortly thereafter, DELIUS shifted out and as a result shifted back inwards in an attempt to improve into clear running.
