Race 1: HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRED SMITH QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres

ELECTRIC SPIRIT – Hung in throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

TOP CEEDEE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

AGUSTAWYND – Approaching the 400m had to take evasive action and made contact with the running rail when having to check to avoid the heels of ELECTRIC SPIRIT which shifted in while hanging. Jockey T Brooker, rider of ELECTRIC SPIRIT was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a). In determining penalty stewards were of the opinion that even though Jockey Brooker attempted to straighten her mount on multiple occasions leading up to the incident, stewards believed that Jockey Brooker should have made greater effort to stop and straighten her mount after showing tendencies to hang in throughout the event. Rider R Stewart was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.


Race 2: HYGAIN/MITAVITE CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Han 1100 metres

LASCO – Raced wide throughout the event. Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

REGAL WISK – Slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount failed to handle todays soft track conditions.

BEAN DEADLY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after breaking through the front partitions of the barriers after being loaded and galloping a short distance and was passed fit to start. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

CHOSEN DISTANCE – Hampered on jumping away. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight.

KOHEETO – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

PARKBURN – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly contacting ITSA CLAMITY.

ITSA CLAMITY – Hampered on jumping away.

Race 3: RUM CITY FOODS CALCUTTA Maiden Plate 1100 metres

CRAIGLEA DANIEL – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

LEGAL CHANCE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

SHE JUST SAID IT – Rider reported that his mount never felt comfortable in the soft going and became concerned with the action of the mare in the straight and as such elected to not place his mount under pressure over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in both forelegs. Trainer S Sigvart was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race or trial.

COLOUR PERFECT – Permission was granted for the Filly to race bare behind after the farrier was unable to reshod COLOUR PERFECT in the mounting enclosure. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Jumped away awkwardly.

MILITARY FORCE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out to improve passing the 500m. Rider M Stephens was suspended to ride in races for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 30 March 2021 and to conclude midnight 6 April 2021, under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 14 occasions prior to the 100m, 9 more than permitted.


Race 4: ST MARY’S GRANDSTAND BM58 Handicap 1100 metres

LUCKY TIME – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

AVOCADO SUNSET – Trainer advised that on return to his stable AVOCADO SUNSET bled from one nostril. Trainer J Wehlow was advised of the provisions of AR79(8).

I LOVE THIS HIPPY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

HINVICTUS -Jumped away awkwardly.

ZATORIO – Slow to begin.

DIP DYE – Raced wide throughout the event.

ROCKETTE ROCKET – Slow to begin.


Race 5: HYGAIN COUNTRY CUP RACE DAY BM65 Handicap 1300 metres

STUBAI – Slow to begin.

CZECHOSLOVAKIA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in in the early stages of the event.

HELLUVA HOFFA – Slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ANGOLA MISS – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

MYSTERY ELEMENT – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.


Race 6: DLV FINANCE 2YO CLASSIC RACE DAY BM60 Handicap
1600 metres

ORNATE – Shortly after jumping away became awkward in its stride after being contacted by BANTU BAY. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.

BRIGHTON TOFF – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.


Race 7: ROCKY AMATEURS RACE CLUB 100 YEARS OPEN Handicap
1400 metres

MR PHENOMENAL - Raced wide throughout the event.

DURIF – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.

DAUNTING QUEEN – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

TAKINGS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the straight.

FINUCANE MISSILE – Reared as the start was affected and was slow to begin. Trainer C Taylor was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding. Trainer C Taylor advised the gelding would now be spelled.


Race 8: GIRLS GRAMMAR RTON RACE DAY SAT 19 JUNE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres

ISIS BRUMBY – Raced wide throughout the event. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer K Miller was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding.

VAST KAMA – raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.

THAT'LL BE THE DAY – Hampered passing the 950m. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

SHEMADEMEDOIT – Hampered and carried in passing the 950m. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.

ALOTTA ATTITUDE – Slipped on jumping away.

LADY LOWBURN – Raced wide throughout the event.

SILVER LUCY - Approaching the 950 had to be checked to avoid the heels of SHEMADEMEDOIT who was carried in by THAT’LL BE THE DAY who was carried in by VAST KAMA which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey Tilley, Rider of VAST KAMA pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) and was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 3 April 2021 and to conclude midnight 13 April 2021.
