QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ROMA TURF CLUB ROMA – SATURDAY, 03 APRIL 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SAND (GOOD) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – B McErleanStewards – R Hitchener Clerk of Scales – QRIC Stewards Judge – B Lines Veterinarian – Dr T McLymont Starter – S Crouchly Race 1: XXXX DRY Maiden Plate 900m OLD LIQUORICE – Declared a late scratching @ 9:10am due to no rider being available. KENNIFF COUNTRY – Jockey J Baker was permitted to ride the gelding 1.5kg over the allocated weight due to no other rider being available. MY BIG BROTHER – Stewards permitted Jockey G Steele to ride the gelding 0.5kgs overweight due to no other rider being available. Subsequently Jockey G Steele was issued a $ 300 fine under AR190(3) for accepting a ride which she was overweight. The start was delayed when KENNIF COUNTRY reared over and became cast in the barriers. Subsequently declared a late scratching @1:35pm by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice. Trainer W Hill was advised the gelding need to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. The start was further delayed when COLLECTION refused to load. Subsequently declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 1:40pm. Trainer P Webster was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on KENNIF COUNTRY and COLLECTION be refunded with the following deductions to apply- For bets placed prior to 1:33pm 1st 0 cents the win, 5 cents the place2nd 6 cents the place3rd 4 cents the place For bets placed between 1:33pm and 1:41pm 1st 11 cents the win, 12 cents the place 2nd 12 cents the place3rd 11 cents the place GLAMOURON and NEVROM LION which were drawn alongside KENIFF COUNTRY when it became cast were both examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently passed fit to start. MISS DAISY – Began awkwardly. IM NO SAINT – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Hung out from the 600m. CURRUMBIN – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Race 2: XXXX GOLD Class 1 Handicap 900m CATHVALANNA – Stewards permitted Apprentice D McGillivray to ride the mare 0.5kgs over his nominated riding weight as there was no other apprentice riders available. Subsequently Apprentice McGillivray was issued a $200 fine under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim down to his riding weight. The start was delayed when DIFFICULT refused to load. Subsequently declared a late scratching by order of Stewards @ 2:21pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on DIFFICULT be refunded with the following deductions to apply- For bets placed prior to 2:21pm 1st 30cents the win, 21 cents the place 2nd 20 cents the place3rd 27 cents the place Trainer W Baker was advised the filly would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing. HARAMAIN - Began awkwardly. BARTOS – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover for the majority. CATHVALANA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: IRON JACK Class 3 Plate 1200m SCENIC SIGHT – Jockey J Rudd replaced Jockey G Steele as Jockey Steele was overweight. Subsequently Jockey G Steele was issued a $ 100 fine under AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. HOCKED – Slow to begin. MS WICKED NICCI – Slow to begin. SHAMUS STAR – A post-race examination of the gelding which compounded in the home straight revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer P Webster was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. Race 4: JAMES SQUIRE GINGER BEER Benchmark 55 Handicap 1640m LEROY ROCKS – Slow to begin. Hung out severely tightening TEYA exiting the home turn on the first occasion. Trainer C Rogers was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing. TEYA – Raced in restricted room for a considerable distance, clipped heels and was checked when LEROY ROCKS hung out despite the efforts of his rider. TAKE A SHINE – Bumped and forced wider on the track exiting the home straight on the first occasion. ITSALLKAY – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground.
