From Doomben, 15.6.16 – Race 4

Trainer S. Kendrick reported that Our Racketeer had been x-rayed and found to have bone chips in the off-side knee. The horse will have corrective surgery performed prior to being sent for a spell. Stewards advised Mr Kendrick that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to its next race start.

As S. Lacy and S. Eilbeck were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.


Race 1: Coca Cola Zero Maiden H'cap – 1000m

SWIPPA DA MOUSE – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground, and then hung out from the 800m to the 400m.

WINNING SPIRIT – Hung out from the 800m to the 400m.


Race 2: Mount Franklin QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1100m

ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin.

IZZAH – Laid out under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten over the concluding stages. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners.


Race 3: Powerade Maiden Plate – 1400m

FREE FLOWING – As J. Morris was not riding at this meeting, T. Harrison was substituted as the rider of the horse.

GUINIGI PRINCE – Slow to begin.

GHOST MOUNTAIN – Slow to begin.

Race 4: Goulburn Valley Open H'cap – 1100m

VINTAGE MOSS – Hung out rounding the home turn.

CRAIGLEA MASTA – Laid in rounding the home turn.


Race 5: Maker’s Mark Ratings Band 0-62 H'cap – 2150m

TOWKASH – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Raced extremely wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was suffering from thumps and was lame in the off hind leg.

QABLA – Raced wide without cover throughout.

WAR FRONT – Raced wide throughout.

PUISSANCE DECHEVAL – Lost its near fore plate in running.

Race 6: Canadian Club Class 1 H'cap – 1100m

EGIPTIENNE – Refused to proceed to the barriers. Declared a late scratching at 3 pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded, with the following deductions applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.

10 cents in the dollar for 2nd place # 8

KAHNEMAN – Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.

Race 7: Coca Cola Amatil Class 3 Plate – 1400m

SHE’S WORTHY – Significantly slow to begin. Lost its off fore plate in running.

EXCELLENT SPIRIT – Lost its near fore plate in running.



Race 8: Jim Beam Class 1 H'cap – 1600m

HICKSON ROAD – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Jockey J. Lloyd stated his mount never travelled well throughout the event and failed to handle the prevailing conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from a significant cough. Trainer reported the horse was found to have had an internal haemorrhage and would now be spelled.

BEXSTAR – Apprentice T. Brooker reported her mount hung out during the race until passing the 400m.
