SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From Ipswich Wednesday 1st May Race 8 – OUTBURST: Trainer M Lakey reported subsequent to the event blood tests indicated an infection and the gelding is being treated accordingly. Mr Lakey added in all likelihood OUTBURST would now be sent for a spell.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights at today’s meeting:
Race 5: SEXY LEXY – J Stanley 55.5kg (+0.5kg)
 
As M Hellyer was injured and W D’Avila was ill, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Raceday Summary sheet. W D’Avila was advised he would require a medical prior to riding again.
 
ROCONONO was declared a late scratching 10:55am after becoming injured when being transported to the track. Trainer C Johnstone was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE         1000 M
 
BUTWEDID – Began awkwardly.Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BANK BOOK – Began awkwardly.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CALICO DRIFTER – Eased down in the home straight.Rider K Zechnerreported the horse felt uncomfortable in its action and for this reason he elected not to place CALICO DRIFTER under pressure over the final 400m.A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer T Thomas was advised CALICO DRIFTER would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
 
 
Race 2: VILI'S FAMILY BAKERY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP      1000 M
 
BOHEMIAN LAD – Turned its head just prior to the start being effected. Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
MALTALI – Jumped out at the start and bumped BOHEMIAN LAD.
 
PLATINUM LIES – When asked to comment on the performance rider N Berriman reported the horse travelled comfortably during the event however when place under pressure in the home straight was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MISSILE ONE – Slow to begin.
 
VELVET – When asked to comment on the performance rider C Graham could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance other than VELVET may be suited by a drop back in class.
 
 
 
Race 3: LIEBKE BUILDERS MAIDEN PLATE         1100 M
 
CRYPTO KING was declared a late scratching at 2:17pm when unable to be loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight Stewards all bets on CRYPTO KING refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st FLUER DE VIE – 23c win, 25c place
2nd SAN JOSE BOY – 13c place
3rd WILLABELLE – 14c place
 
Trainer P Duff was advised CRYPTO KING would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
ZEPHALONG – Raced wide for the majority.
 
DESTINY DALAI – Jumped out at start and bumped ISLAND LADY.
 
RUBOS – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ISLAND LADY – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
STAR DIAMOND – Momentarily laid out passing 800m.Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
WILLABELLE – Rider C Collis dropped his whip approaching the 200m.
 
 
 
Race 4: SANDSTONE OVER 50'S CLASS 3 PLATE         1400 M
 
KELLERS SHELTER – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. Weakened after being placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate and also a slight nasal discharge.
 
REDENTE CHOICE – Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward and obtaining a position outside the leader near the 900m.
 
TORQUE LEICA STAR – Began awkwardly.
 
GINASUE – Jumped out at the start bumping KELLERS SHELTER.
 
 
 
Race 5: ALL ASPECT SPRAYING MAIDEN HANDICAP         1400 M
 
 
SPIRIT OF HEATH – Crowded on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inconvenienced and held up behind the tiring BELDEVILLE from the 800m until the entrance to the home straight. Momentarily steadied when disappointed for a run near the 200m between JOHN’S ROAD and BUBBLES ‘N’ SPEAK.
 
CHERBOURG – Raced wide for the majority.
 
THE BEST BAD BOY – Bumped on jumping.Raced wide for the majority.
 
THE MERCHANT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider S Cormack could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near hind leg. Trainer T Miller was advised THE MERCHANT would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
LOVEZELADYS – Raced wide for the majority. When questioned regarding above market performance today trainer T Miller stated although the rig raced wide for the majority of the event, he was of the opinion the horse was suited racing in a forward position where it was able to find a comfortable rhythm, and in the circumstances was not overly surprised by the performance.
 

 
 
 
Race 6: CELLAR MAINTENANCE AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 2000 M
 
TAVISTORM – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted for a short distance near the 800m to the inside of FAST LADY.
 
MIKKI EIGHT – Bumped at the start. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ACES UP – Trainer R Tyrell was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on ACES UP.
 
FAST LADY – Near the 600m bumped on the hindquarters when TAVISTORM shifted out momentarily.Approaching the home turn held up behind the tiring COME ON EILEEN.
 
COME ON EILEEN – Bumped at the start.Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SEERESS – Raced wide from the 900m. Jumped out at the start and bumped COME ON EILEEN.
 
WINSTON BLUE – Slow to muster speed at the start.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: COASTAL VEHICLE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP1000 M
 
MISTER MONARO – Forced wider on the track passing the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
OUR RED PLANET – Raced keenly when placed in restricted room near the 700m. Became awkwardly placed at heels near the 200m when laying in under pressure.
 
ENTERPRISE LUCIA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Inconvenienced passing 800m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
KWIK AZ HELL – Began awkwardly.
 
ROMAN REIGN – Passing the 800m improved onto heels when racing keenly, shifted out taking MISTER MONARO wider on the track and inconveniencing ENTERPRISE LUCIA which was following. Raced wide for the remainder of the event. Lost its near fore plate in running.
 
WHAT A SHAM – Hung out between the 600m and 400m. Rider S Cormackadvised WHAT A SHAM did not appreciate the synthetic racing surface.
 
AIRSTRIKE – Slow to begin then hampered between runners.
 
BETTER LAD – Slow to begin. Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
 
 
Race 8: MEGALEC PTY LTD BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP         1100 M
 
MORE PILLS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
TORQUE BOSSANOVA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight. Rider C Collis reported the gelding did not travel comfortably on the synthetic surface and was inclined to change legs during the event.
 
PAULI – Jumped out at the start and bumped TAMSIN.
 
MYGIRLGLADYS – Change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin was then hampered near 1000m when MORE PILLS shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
 
GALLERY MASTER – Jumped out at the start. The license of C Meehan to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m to commence midnight 14th May up to and including midnight 21st May 2024.
 
HELL OF A PRINCE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CONFIRM NOR DENY – Lost its off hind plate in running.
 
TAMSIN – Bumped at the start.
