Race 1: St Splinter QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1000m

VIRGIN TERRITORY – Trainer D. Murphy was reprimanded failing to produce the registration papers for the horse.

ORQUESTA – Tightened for room and steadied approaching the 400m. J. Orman was interviewed regarding the performance. He indicated after beginning awkwardly and making contact with the barriers, the horse hung out and failed to show sufficient speed to cross runners to its inside. He added that the horse weakened from the home turn onwards and was disappointing. He noted that prior to the race the horse was sweating badly and this may have had an effect on the overall performance. Trainer S. Kendrick agreed with J. Orman’s comments that the horse’s performance was affected by its pre-race behaviour, and added that it would now be sent for a spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

FIRESTAR PHOENIX – Tightened for room and steadied approaching the 400m. M. Hellyer, rider of VIRGIN TERRITORY, was advised to exercise more care. Raced wide without cover.

MISHANI EL LOBO – Raced greenly in the home straight and laid in under pressure, causing its rider to be unable to fully test his mount. Raced wide without cover.

SEAVIEW – Apprentice M. Murphy reported the horse raced greenly throughout the event.

Race 2: Creative Stone Maiden Plate – 1000m

KING DRABADORE – Jumped away awkwardly.

KATIEKINS – Slow to begin. Apprentice T. Brooker reported that the filly raced greenly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a poor post-race recovery and making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that he would be required to produce to stewards the results of an endoscopic examination and veterinary clearance for the filly prior to its next race start.

PRINCESS IS READY – Slow to begin. Apprentice J. Orman reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.

Race 3: Maroochy Roos Juniors Benchmark 65 H'cap – 1000m

No racing incidents.

Race 4: Elenel Building Designers Class 1 H'cap – 1200m

RAGE WITHIN – Slow to begin.

ALPINE STYLE – Jockey A. Taylor reported that her mount hung out throughout.

VERSCENT – A post race veterinary examination of the mare, which raced 3 wide outside the leader, revealed it to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised the horse would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.

Race 5: National Construction Management P/L Class 1 H'cap – 1600m

KIRSTEN COVE – Overraced in the lead throughout the race, and hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer M. Mair indicated he would now consider the horse’s racing future. Stewards advised Mr Mair that should the horse continue this preparation he would be required to trial the horse to the stewards’ satisfaction.

BROCSON – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages.

HIDDEN BELLS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

GEE TWENTY – Raced 3 wide throughout. Stewards questioned jockey M. Powell regarding the tactics adopted. Of particular concern to stewards was during the early stages when jockey Powell appeared to have opportunity to continue forward when positioned wide and take up a position closer to the fence. He indicated he attempted to steady as he did not feel his mount would be able to persist forward to take up a leading position and that he would be more likely to obtain a position closer to the fence at the tail of the field, however he was ultimately caught 3 wide, and with hindsight agreed with stewards that it may have been a better option to press forward. Stewards advised jockey Powell that whilst they believed he had erred, they felt his decision was not unreasonable in the circumstances.
Race 6: M.A.R.K.S. Program Maiden H'cap – 1400m

JACK ATTACK – Jumped away awkwardly.

MAJOR SCOOP – Jockey A. Allen reported that the horse hung out rounding the home turn and in the straight.

TICKETS TO RIDE – Raced wide without cover.

ROMAN SENATOR – Apprentice L. Dittman reported that his mount raced greenly throughout and did not travel comfortably after obtaining cover near the 800m.

ONA COMMAND – Trainer L. Richardson advised that the gelding, which finished tailed off, will now be retired. Mr Richardson was informed that should circumstances change, stewards would require the horse to compete at non-TAB venues until its form improved.

BRINGEM – Trainer K. Martin indicated he would have an endoscopic examination performed on the gelding, which finished tailed off, and would report the results to stewards.

Race 7: TKM Construction Group Class 3 Plate – 1400m

DELNIELLO – Slow to begin.

YEAGER – Slow to begin. Pressured in the early stages in order to hold a position at the tail of the field.

PATRONIZING – Overraced in the lead during the early and middle stages.

PUNTINATO – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 100m.

Race 8: In Curtains And Blinds ratings Band 0-65 H'cap – 2200m

WIMPOLE STREET – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

ARDROVA – Slow to begin.

HIGHWARD – Had to be steadied to avoid heels when the pace slackened passing the 1600m. Improved in a wide position passing the 900m when the pace was steady and remained in a wide position for the remainder of the event.

THERE’S NEMO - Had to be steadied to avoid heels when the pace slackened passing the 1600m.

CALL ME RUSTY – Improved in a wide position passing the 900m when the pace was steady.
