As P. Hammersley and S. Sheargold were injured and apprentice B. Ainsworth was not riding due to personal reasons, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: AURA ADVISORY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1800M

JEEVERSON – Raced greenly in the early stages and near the 1500m shifted out and became awkward after bumping with MAKAS KING RULER.

DRUMMER’S CHOICE – Raced three wide throughout and was then ridden forward from the 1100m and continued to be three wide without cover after the 800m.

LAST MOMENT – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a handy position, which is in contrast to its most recent racing pattern. The horse was ridden accordingly.

SHOW A FLICK – A. Spinks pleaded guilty to a charge under AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip more than 9 times prior to the 100m. Jockey Spinks’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 16 July and expire at midnight on Saturday 23 July 2016. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Spinks’ recent poor record regarding infringing under this rule.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to GOOD 3 retrospective.

Race 8: PARKLANDS TAVERN CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M

ARTETA – Rider D. Browne was questioned regarding the horse’s performance. He indicated that he would have liked to have improved into the race from the 600m, however the runners forward of him were under pressure and he was obliged to wait until approaching the 400m, however when asked for a response, the horse did not quicken as he would have liked and whilst he did improve onto the heels of another weakening runner near the 100m and was obliged to alter course, he felt the horse was somewhat disappointing, however felt that the horse’s performance would have been better had he been able to improve into the race earlier.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than that the horse had lost the off hind plate in running.
