QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SUNSHINE COAST TURF CLUB – SUNDAY, 16 OCTOBER 2016 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3 RAIL – 11MPENETROMETER – 5.32 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. FlynnStarter – R. HansonStewards Secretary – P. Carey Race 1: Landsborough Pub Maiden H’cap – 1200m The start was delayed when COME BY CHANCE required farrier attention. GREAT MOGHUL – Blundered on jumping away. MOHAKA RIVER – Laid in near the 900m for a short distance. Jockey L. Dittman reported his mount travelled reasonably well in the early stages, however was under pressure approaching the 600m and failed to respond to his riding. Trainer J. Meagher advised following the event that he would experiment with blinkers prior to its next race start. ADHERE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Stewards asked jockey D. Browne to comment on the performance of the mare. He indicated that he attempted to have the horse settle in the early and middle stages, however the mare overraced and he felt this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. Race 2: Kendrick Racing Owners Maiden H’cap – 1200m IMA RAHEEB – Jumped away awkwardly, making heavy contact with another runner, then became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly. Trainer N. Hocking advised that following the poor performance he would now send the gelding for an immediate spell. MIABLA – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced greenly and shifted out near the 1100m, inconveniencing another runner. STATE OF TEXAS – Inconvenienced by another runner approaching the 1100m and then raced greenly throughout the event and commenced to hang from the 800m. FREE PRESS – When being restrained near the 800m became unbalanced and made contact with the running rail, losing ground as a result. Restrained from heels approaching the 500m and was then held up for clear running for a short distance near the 300m. IMPOSING CLARE – Became unbalanced and lost ground at the 800m and again at the 600m before hanging out from the 500m. Connections were advised that the horse’s nomination at provincial meetings would be refused until its form improved at non TAB venues. KNOWING FRANK – Held up rounding the home turn. Race 3: Britt’s Selected Meats Class 5 H’cap – 1200m No racing incidents. Race 4: Aquatic Achievers Maiden Plate – 1600m BOCAGE – Hampered shortly after the start. Bumped by another runner near the 300m. Stewards questioned stable foreman Mr R. O’Leary regarding the improved performance. He indicated the stable was surprised with the performance and indicated that the stable gave consideration to perhaps retiring the mare, however he did indicate that the horse’s last start performance was not altogether poor as the horse had been caught quite wide throughout the event. DAZZA’S REWARD – Whilst being restrained in the early stages overraced and shifted out before being permitted to stride forward passing the 1450m. Had to be steadied from heels near the 300m whilst weakening. COURTESY – Bumped near the 500m and forced wider on the track. CELESTIAL GREY – Bumped near the 500m and forced wider on the track. PRIMAL TOUCH – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and then was disappointed for a run after passing the 400m before shifting back to the inside to secure clear running passing the 300m. ELIMBAH – After being dislodged on pulling up, jockey L. Londregan was examined by the doctor and cleared to fulfil remaining engagements. Jockey L. Londregan reported that with the addition of blinkers today his mount began well and raced more keenly. He was therefore obliged to position the horse in a more forward position than he had planned. BROTHER DARKNESS – Jockey J. Orman reported it had not been his intention to ride his mount in a forward position, however after beginning well from a wide alley he was unable to secure a midfield positon as he would have been caught wide and he therefore elected to allow his mount to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1400m. After being dislodged on pulling up, jockey J. Orman was examined by the doctor and cleared to fulfil remaining engagements. Race 5: Kendrick Racing Class 2 H’cap – 1200M ARCHYTAS – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount laid out under pressure in the home straight. PERFORATION – Hung out from the 800m and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer Mr M. Mair was advised that the horse must trial prior to its next race start. Race 6: Alan Broder Horse & Farm Property Specialist Class 1 H’cap – 1000m SMOOTHNAVIGATOR – After dislodging its rider and galloping a considerable distance was declared a late scratching at 3.06 pm with the following deductions applicable. 15 cents in the dollar on the face value of bets placing on the winner No. 2 – Mr Hennessy15 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the winner No. 2 – Mr Hennessy12 cents in the dollar on the face value of bets for 2nd placegetter No.7 – Wonderful Tale 18 cents in the dollar on the face value of bets for 3rd placegetter No. Apollo Hope Starting prices subject to deduction APOLLO HOPE – Hampered by another runner on jumping away and had to be checked. WHYMEGOD – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. ROB ROY – Held up for clear running in the home straight. WONDERFUL TALE – Held up for clear running in the home straight until approaching the 100m. LE JEU – Raced wide throughout. Returned to the enclosure in a distressed state. Apprentice T Brooker reported that the mare was fractiou pre race and proved difficult to load. The horse, in her opinion, did not show its customary early speed and did not travel comfortably at any stage during the event. After pulling up she was of the view that the horse may have had a breathing issue during the event as it became distressed post race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 7: Novotel Brisbane Airport Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1800m AHMAH STAR – Declared a late scratching at 3.48 pm with the following deductions applicable. 0 cents in the dollar on the face value of bets placing on the winner No. 63 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the winner No. 63 cents in the dollar on the face value of bets for 2nd placegetter No. 53 cents in the dollar on the face value of bets for 3rd placegetter No. 7 Starting prices subject to deduction WALK TO THE BAR – On Jumping away Jockey D. Browne lost the use of an iron for a short distance. He further reported that the horse travelled well until asked for an effort rounding the home turn, adding that his mount quickened at that point, however found the line only moderately and was somewhat disappointing. Trainer R. McCall indicated that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. TRALEE CHORUS – Steadied from heels near the 1600m when the pace slackened. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. RISING LUCK – Overraced in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start. TULIMAN – Hung out from approaching the 600m until entering the home straight. Race 8: Kendrick Racing Workforce Class 1 H’cap – 1400m HOT HYPNOSIS – Connections advise that from the good barrier draw it would be ridden more forward. The horse subsequently settled midfield. SUBSOLAR – Declared a late scratching at 4.31 pm after rearing in the barriers and becoming cast. DON’T RUSH ME – Forced wider near the 600m and made the home turn wide. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, causing the rider to stop riding for a short distance near the 250m. HOT HYPNOSIS – Hampered on jumping away . REIGNING THUNDER – Jumped away awkwardly, inconveniencing another runner.
