RODANOS – Slow to begin.  Shifted wider on the track near the 600m and was ridden forward to the lead whilst in a wide position.

SIR TITANITE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

GOLOVKIN – Steadied and lost ground on a number of occasions between the 700m and 500m when placed in restricted room to the inside of the heels of TWILIGHT MANEUVER.   Apprentice R. Payne, rider of TWILIGHT MANEUVER, was reprimanded for this incident. Had to be checked approaching the 100m  to avoid the heels of TWILIGHT MANEUVER and shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

DANISH EMPIRE – When the pace slackened approaching the 600m began to overrace and had to be checked from heels, and then continued to be restrained from heels until approaching the 400m.

ACE STRYKER – Forced wider near the 600m and raced wide from that point onwards.

TWILIGHT MANEUVER – Shifted out abruptly approaching the 100m, causing interference.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners as in addition to this incident the horse raced greenly throughout the event.

IRISH SPY – Declared a late scratching at 7.55 am.

REDREKA – Slow to begin.

SNOWY MOET – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

LIBELULA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, apprentice L. Tarrant stated that in the early stages he was of the opinion FOX FORCE FIVE would cross to the lead and he was therefore  content to follow that horse across and settle in a position outside the lead.  However when SNOWY MOET improved to that horse’ inside it became apparent he would be caught 3 wide and he attempted near the 1000m to steady and take up a trailing position behind FOX FORCE FIVE.  He indicated at the same stage FOX FORCE FIVE steadied and his mount, LIBELULA, overraced causing him to be unable to cross behind that horse, resulting in his mount being caught 3 wide  without cover.

REVERENCE –  When asked to comment on the tactics and performance, jockey M. Cahill indicated he had been given no firm instructions other than to say that the horse had not, in the stable’s opinion, performed well when ridden aggressively in the early stages. He therefore elected to attempt to have the horse settle midfield and during the early stages when there appeared to be good pace to his mount’s inside he attempted to obtain a position behind LIBELULA, however when that horse steadied near the 1000m, REVERENCE commenced to overrace badly and he was obliged to check from heels and shift wider on the track as the horse refused to settle and he was obliged to race 4 wide without cover. He indicated that, in his opinion, the overall performance was not disappointing as the horse continued to finish the race off  moderately despite being wide.  He added that the horse would benefit if able to obtain cover in the early stages in a race which is run at a more genuine tempo.  Stable representative Mr Chandler confirmed the instructions and agreed with the comments.

Race 6: Comlink Volunteer Benchmark 85 H’cap – 1300m

BORIS BADENOV – Slow to begin.

KEMPELLY – Jockey N. Tomizawa reported that his saddle shifted on jumping away, causing him to be almost dislodged.  He also advised that he was placed at a disadvantage as he was unable to reposition the saddle and the horse also laid in throughout the event and did no appreciate the firmer than normal racing surface.
