Race 1:  Sunshine Coast Pulse Therapy CG&E Benchmark 65 H’cap –
1000m
 
LOVESON – Trainer T. Lunney was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.
 
CANAPES – Trainer P. Butterworth was fined $100 for failing to scratch the horse by the prescribed time.
 
RABBIT HUNTER – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.  Raced ungenerously in the middle stages.
 
HEAVENLY ARCHER – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with another runner and lost ground.
 
Following this even the track rating was upgraded to Soft 5.
 
 
Race 2: Austack Produce CG&E Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
TOROWOTO – Declared a late scratching at 1.52 pm after kicking  out in the barriers, injuring its near hind leg.  Subsequently all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.
 
19 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
17 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
17 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
26 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance  must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
POET LAD – Declared a late scratching at 1.54 pm after being unable to be loaded into the barriers. Subsequently all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.
 
13 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
17 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Connections were advised that a barrier certificate  must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
DIVINE KINGDOM – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin.
 
ANOTHER ELEMENT – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
KERBSIDE KAOS – Inconvenienced after passing the 400m. Raced wide without cover.
 
PHOENIX SHADOW – Jockey L. Dittman reported to stewards that his mount may benefit from a step up in distance in its races.
 
 
Race 3: Williams Civil F&M Benchmark 65 H'cap – 1000m
 
MISS LIBERTAS – Raced wide without cover.
 
 
Race 4: Reed Racing Class 2 Plate – 1200m
 
AZIZ JAMIL COUREUR – Leaving the 900m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
 
Race 5: Kendrick Racing CG&E Maiden H’cap – 1400m
 
REG ‘N’ KATH – Trainer M. Boland was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages and was permitted to stride forward to a position 3 wide outside the lead without cover throughout.
 
ALLOFIT – Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground. Overraced in the middle stages due to the slow tempo being set.
 
MINOR LUCK – Jumped away awkwardly. Inconvenienced when placed in restricted room near the 100m.
 
CANISTER – Inconvenienced on jumping away. Raced wide.
 
THORBEN – Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance passing the 1100m.  Then steadied near the 1000m and overraced in the middle stages.
 
DECK OF ACES – Raced wide.
 
SO DAPPER – Jockey R. Stewart reported it had not been is intention to lead, however when caught wide in the early stages allowed the horse to stride forward to a position outside the lead. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
 
Race 6:  Novotel Brisbane Open H’cap  – 1000m
 
ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM –  Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer P. Kimmet  for failing to declare a rider for  the horse by the prescribed time. Raced wide.  
 
TISANI TOMSO – Jumped away awkwardly, made  contact with another runner and lost ground.
 
TRUCULENT – Bumped on jumping away. Hung out for  a short distance after passing the 600m.
 
BOOMWAA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
HARD STRIDE – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 7:  Top Notch Ratings Band 0-58 H’cap – 1600m
 
MR RED SHOES – The saddle shifted back on the horse in the early stages.  Jockey S. Sweeney also reported his mount did not improve into the race at any stage despite her urgings.  Tightened for room on jumping away.
 
UNO TOPS – Slow to begin.
 
C’MOME PADDYREILLY – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey B. Ainsworth was reprimanded for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards took into account his good record regarding breaches of this rule.
 
PRODUCE ME LATE – Slow to begin. Disappointed for  a run near the 300m and as a result was obliged to alter course.
 
SECRET AGENT MAN – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead approaching the 900m.
 
RAINGURL – Overraced in the early stages.
 
DEBONAIR DES – Overraced for a short distance after passing the 1200m. Buffeted by another runner after passing the 400m and became unbalanced.
 
DRUMS JEWEL – Obliged to race in restricted room from the 600m until leaving the 500m.
 
VOLOMITE – After being held up  after passing the 400m shifted out to secure clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with another runner. Jockey J. Orman was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards took into account his good record regarding breaches of this rule.
