J Adams was fined the sum of $200 for failing to fulfill his engagements under AR190(3). After being unable to fulfill his engagements at Toowoomba on the 6th of February, jockey Nathan Thomas was examined by the on-course doctor and cleared to fulfill his engagements. Race 1: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST QTIS 2YO MDN PLT - 1000m The start of this race was delayed when STATUTES worked strongly towards the barriers and as a consequence dislodged apprentice S Tomlinson. STATUTES subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which cleared the gelding to start. ARTIE'S DESTINY – Slow to begin. Raced wide. Raced greenly throughout placing its rider at a disadvantage. Laid in significantly in the home straight. Trainer K Kemp was advised that ARTIE’S DESTINY would have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next start. BARONIAL – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding performance, jockey M Du Plessis reported that the gelding overraced and proved difficult to settle which placed his mount in a tight position near the 600m and caused him to steady further. He added that his mount would derive benefit from the run and he would be recommending to connections to remove the blinkers. Trainer K Fogden was advised that a warning would be placed on the manners of BARONIAL. HABIB – Trainer M Currie was fined $100 under AR102(a) for failing to notify that HABIB had been gelded. Raced wide throughout. Momentarily held up near the 400m. STATUTES – Jumped awkwardly. Obliged to race in restricted room near the 600m and had to be steadied, before being eased down from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of heat stress. Trainer L Ross was advised that STATUTES would be required to officially barrier trial prior to its next start. BETTER THAN BAMS – Rider L Tarrant reported that his mount overraced significantly in the middle stages. Following the running of this race, apprentice S Tomlinson was examined by on course medical professionals and stood down from his engagements. Apprentice Tomlinson was advised that he would be required to produce a medical prior to his next engagements and changes were permitted as per raceday summary. Race 2: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS MDN HCP – 1600m BRAZEN BRECCIA – Jumped awkwardly making heavy contact with COULOMB. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress. SETHLANS – Buffeted for several strides and then had to be checked shortly after jumping when CARTIAR shifted in and COULOMB shifted out when taken out by BRAZEN BRECCIA. COULOMB – Taken out on jumping by BRAZEN BRECCIA and had to be steadied when bumping for several strides with SETHLANS shortly after. Laid out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the straight. SARATOGA EXPRESS – Overraced in the middle stages. MISS HUSTLE – Overraced in the early and middle stages before shifting wider at the 700m and raced wide from that point on. CARTIAIR – Jumped awkwardly shifting in making heavy contact with SETHLANS. Race 3: PABLO'S TEX-MEX CALOUNDRA C3 HCP – 1600m SCRATCHES – Momentarily held up form the 500m to the 400m. MISS GEM – Momentarily held up from the 500m to the 400m. FEND OFF – When questioned regarding performance, jockey G Cartwright stated that FEND OFF may not have appreciated the short back up from Gatton on the 31st January. Trainer L Anderson concurred with the statements of G Cartwright. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. DER SIEGER – Jumped awkwardly. Race 4: PARKLANDS TAVERN C6 HCP - 1200m THE PINES – Slow to begin. Near the 400m was contacted on the hindquarters by RED DOULTON and became momentarily unbalanced for a number of strides. RED DOULTON – Near the 900m had to be steadied off the heels of HI FIVER when the pace slackened. Near the 400m, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of THE PINES and became momentarily unbalanced. After the running of this race, jockey R Fradd was examined by the on-course doctor and stood down from his remaining engagement. Jockey R Fradd was advised a medical would be required prior to his next rides and changes were permitted as per raceday summary. Race 5: XXXX DRY MDN HCP – 1200m BOOM RANGA – Raced wide in the early stages and ridden aggressively in order to secure the lead passing the 900m. GEKKO – Shifted in near the 900m, despite the efforts of its rider, tightening runners to its inside. ALL SORTED – Steadied and lost ground near the 900m when tightened for room. CARREFOUR – Slow to begin. JUST CALL MY NAME – Restrained to obtain cover near the 1000m. MY ADELINE – Raced three wide with cover. DIVINE GOLD – Steadied from heels of JUST CALL MY NAME in the vicinity of the 1000m. GOLD CHORUS – As J Adams was unable to make the weight, he was initially replaced by R Fradd. When R Fradd was stood down due to illness, he was then replaced by J Bayliss. Stood flat footed and losing significant and took no competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative from the Heinrich stable was advised that GOLD CHORUS would be required to barrier trial prior to its next start. BEDTIME SONG – Retired from the event and underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils. Trainers representative was advised of the provisions of AR79(4). ROZEIRA – When inclined to lay in, had to be steadied and lost ground when tightened for room near the 900m. Raced wide without cover from the 900m. DUTCH DELIGHT – Raced four wide with no cover throughout. Race 6: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS QTIS 3YO BM65 HCP - 1600m BANGERS AND MAYO – Overraced in the early stages. TREASURE OF GOLD – Slow to begin. Checked from heels near the 800m when the pace slackened. ZOU ZOU KACANARKIS – Restrained from heels near the 900m when the pace slackened and then shifted wider and raced three wide without cover from that point onwards. ANGELS SHARE – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up at the 400m and shifted wider to obtain clear running. IF YOU CAN DREAM – Buffeted between runners passing the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying symptoms of the thumps. Trainer T Gollan stated that in light of the performance and veterinary report, IF YOU CAN DREAM would now be spelled. KASEAR – Slow to begin. At the 400m was forced wider and bumped IF YOU CAN DREAM when ANGELS SHARE (M Savva) shifted out after being momentarily held up. M Savva was advised to exercise more care. I PROMISE YOU – Overraced in the early stages. MISS GOLD BOUNTY – Bumped after passing the 400m and became unbalanced. Race 7: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY C1 PLATE – 1400M DEBONAIR DES – Overraced in the early and middle stages. FIREBOX – Steadied off the heels of DEBONAIR DES near the 1200m when the pace slackened. IRISH RING KICKER – Slow to begin. SABIE PARK – Obliged to steady off the heels of ABRACADAZZLE (T Harrison) past the winning post when that runner shifted out when insufficiently clear. T Harrison was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to exercise more care in future similar circumstances. DAM LOVABLE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. SKYQUAKE – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.06pm. Trainer T Button was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to SKYQUAKE starting again.
