Race 2: HENZELLS AGENCY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres

The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes to allow the near side plate on PRIMED FOR VICTORY to be refitted.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by T Marshall, rider of 3rd placegetter PRIMED FOR VICTORY, against second place getter ENTERPRISE LEGEND, alleging interference in the home straight. After considering submissions from all parties and viewing the patrol footage Stewards found that approaching the 100m PRIMED FOR VICTORY was initially inclined to shift out and away from ENETERPRISE LEGEND before passing the 100m ENTERPRISE LEGEND shifted out under pressure taking PRIMED FOR VICTORY wider on the track and having to steady from that runner’s heels approaching the winning post. Bearing in mind the ¾ length margin and the manner in which both runners finished the race off, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that placings should be reversed, and the protest was dismissed.

FLYING RUPERT – Awkwardly placed at heels leaving the 600m.Rider J Byrne reported instructions were to lead however after beginning awkwardly restrained in an effort to obtain cover adding that when the horse was placed under pressure in the home straight was disappointing.A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
