SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Trainer J Johnston advised TAKE ME ON had bled from both nostrils for the first time following trackwork at the SCTC on Thursday 28th December 2022. Mr Johnston was advised TAKE ME ON would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for a period of 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start.
 
In order to accommodate Sky Racing programming, start times were amended as follows:
Race 1: 1:12pm (from 1:13pm)
Race 2: 1:50pm (from 1:48pm)
 
Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:
Race 3: SANKELISKAR – J Stanley 56kg (+0.5kg)
Race 4: BERAKAHQUINN – D Smith 54.5kg (0.5kg)
 
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metre
 
ASHIGARU was declared a late scratching at 1:09pm after rider N Fazackerley was dislodged in the saddling enclosure and was ruled unfit by the Club doctor to fulfill his riding commitment. On declaration of correct weight Stewards all bets on ASHIGRU prior to 1:09pm be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st PARTY FOR TWO: 16c win, 12c place
2nd BLACK MINTO: 18c place
3rd IRON POWER: n/a
 
Jockey Nathan Fazackerley was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to his next race or trial ride.
 
IRON POWER – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider N Thomas reported the horse raced very greenly throughout was inclined to change legs at various stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B Mair advised IRON POWER will now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
BLACK MINTO – Shortly after the start was momentarily awkwardly placed at the heels of IRON POWER. Held up for clear running entering the home straight.Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISS CANTIK – Jumped out at the start and bumped FRIENDLY SIZZLE. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FRIENDLY SIZZLE – Bumped at the start.
 
 
Race 2: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 68 Handicap
1200 metres
 
I PROMISE YOU – Caught wide in the early stages of the event before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 700m. Apprentice I Rabjones reported the horse felt awkward in its action after being placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BROCKY – Over-raced in the early stages of the event.Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
THUNDER MANIA – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ATLANTIC EAGLE – Slow to begin.
 
LOLAROSIE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.Rider S Thornton reported the horse was disappointing in its finishing effort when placed under pressure in the home straight.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST Maiden Plate
1300 metres
 
A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Slow to begin. Passing the 400m raced in restricted room to the inside of DELTASPHERE.
 
DESIGNATED SURVIVA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FEELING TOFFY – Slow to begin.
 
MON CADEAU – Jumped out at the start and bumped SUPER SHARES. Over-raced in early stages of the event. Rider K Wilson-Taylor reported over the concluding stages the horse shifted out abruptly after shying at the winning post.
 
PRESSURE AND TIME – Over-raced in early stages of the event. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SUPER SHARES – Bumped at the start.
 
GISELLE'S GAMBLE – Hampered on jumping away when bumped by SUPER SHARES. Rider M Hellyer reported the horse raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SANKELISKAR – Rider J Stanley reported the horse was inclined to lay out at various stages of the event.
 
DELTASPHERE – Awkwardly placed at the heels of WARTHOG passing the 500m.
 
 
 
Race 4: BARRIER REEF POOLS Maiden Plate 1300 metres
 
CRYPTO TYCOON – Rider R Maloney could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer B Healy advised Stewards CRYPTO TYCOON would now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
GIANT THUNDER – Bumped at the start.
 
IN CLOSE REACH – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
LEISURE GAMES – At the start rider J Taylor became unbalanced in the saddle after losing use of his offside stirrup iron for a number of strides and as a consequence settled further back in the field than anticipated. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider J Taylor dropped his whip near the 150 metres.
 
LORD LOUISON – Jumped out at the start and bumped GIANT THUNDER.Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Near the 700m momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of BERAKAHQUINN and had to be eased.
 
MONT ROYAL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider M Hellyer reported the horse felt comfortable during the race however when placed under pressure from the 500m was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
SATELLITE SPIRIT – Slow to begin.
 
BERAKAHQUINN – Began awkwardly resulting inrider D Smith becoming very awkward in the saddle for a number of strides. At the entrance to the home straight raced in restricted for a short distance between SATELLITE SPIRIT and IN CLOSE REACH which laid in.
 
 
 
Race 5: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres
 
SCREAM QUEEN – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight before being corrected by its rider. Hampered when tightened for room over the concluding stages.
 
GLAMOUR AND GLORY – Jumped in abruptly at the start.
 
SNEAKY THREE – Began awkwardly.
 
CABRINELLA – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages resulting in tightening to both MILAGRO and SCREAM QUEEN. S Cormack, rider of CABRINELLA, was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
POSSOVER – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m momentarily crowded for room when DIVENIRE shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider.
 
MILAGRO – Hampered when tightened for room over the concluding stages.
 
AMBER BLONDE – Slow to begin. Passing the 100m shifted in abruptly after shying at the whip of L Allen, rider of YOU ESS ESS ARE.
 
YOU ESS ESS ARE – Rider L Allen could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. 
 
 
 
Race 6: DOUBLE R GROUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1800 metres
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Bumped with EARLY THOUGHTS soon after entering the home straight when attempting to shift out to secure clear running.
 
EARLY THOUGHTS – Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Bumped heavily on the hindquarters by CHAYSE “N” ARTIE soon after entering the home straight. M Cahill, rider of EARLY THOUGHTS, was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) to ride his mounts out fully to the end of the race.
 
LIKEABEEL – Awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 600m.
 
SPURIOUS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ABOVE THE LOT – Raced three wide from the 1000m. When asked to comment on his riding in the home straight, rider J Stanley reported when attempting to pull the whip through from his right hand to left hand due to ABOVE THE LOT commencing to lay out, the whip became caught in his reins for a number of strides which prevented him from pressuring the horse in his usual manner.
 
WINSTON BLUE – Change of tactics, to be ridden forward if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin settled in the second half of the field.
 
 
 
Race 7: PARKLANDS TAVERN BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres
 
ARCHDEACON – After being loaded into the barriers kicked out behind, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Taken in near the 800m.
 
GAUNTLET – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
PERNELL – Jumped out at the start and bumped BELLICOSE. Checked near the 800m. At a subsequent inquiry B Thompson, rider of THE VOWELS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 800m he permitted THE VOWELS to shift in when insufficiently clear of ARCHDEACON which was taken in resulting in PERNELL being crowded for room and having to check to avoid the heels of ARCHDEACON. The licence of B Thompson to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 10th January up to and including midnight 19th January 2023. Over-raced for a short distance near the 700m.
 
VAIN FOX – Jumped out at the start and bumped WINSTON SMURFHILL. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
WINSTON SMURFHILL – Bumped at the start when VAIN FOX jumped out.
 
JERONIMOS – Slow to begin, then bumped by WINSTON SMURFHILL which in turn was taken out by VAIN FOX. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off-hind leg, consistent with having been galloped on.
 
SHEZA FIRECRACKER – Slow to begin.
 
STORMTROOPER – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
COPPERCHINO – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
