SPRINGSURE ST. PATRICK’S DAY RACE CLUB – SATURDAY, 19th MARCH, 2016
WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (GOOD 3)

General:

When Stewards were advised that Apprentice Z White was injured in track work, riding replacements were made as per Stewards Summary. A medical certificate of fitness will be riding prior to her next riding engagements.

Race 1: Beverley O’Keefe Memorial BM 45 Handicap- 900 metres

UNCHAIN JAYNE- Delay to the start when broken bit had to be replaced.

PRINCESS RHYTHM- Fractious in the barrier prior to the start.

CUBAN SONG- Slow to begin and hampered when another jumped out.

ACCEPTING- Hampered by another runner at the start.

THREERIVERSHOTEL- Trainer reported to Stewards that the gelding would now be retired.

DAME JUDARIUS- Following the event, the mare collapsed in the tie up area. Received veterinary attention and was subsequently euthanised after with a suspected heart attack.

Race 2: Dooley’s Tavern/Minerva Mine QTIS Maiden Plate- 900 metres

Due to the vet being required following Race 1, the start of this race was delayed approximately 25 minutes.

BORN WILD- Late scratching at 12.01pm when trainer advised Stewards the mare had been injured in the float.

TYRONE’S LUCK- Unable to be loaded. Late scratching at 2.34pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on this runner be refunded with the following deductions to apply;

REGGIE ROCKET 0c win and 14 cents the place
WHYMEGOD 18 cents the place
DRAGONMOSS 10 cents the place

Trainer was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.

REGGIE ROCKET- Began awkwardly.

WHYMEGOD- Rider reported his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure.

WHARTON CIEANNA- Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 3: Paul Taylor Memorial BM 50 Handicap- 1400 metres

RED RYDER- Slow into stride.

PERFECTLY ALIGNED- Contact with another runner and jumped and lost some ground.

WILD GODSON- Slow to begin.

CLASPED- Near the 1200 metres, hampered when another runner laid in momentarily.

Race 4: Michael O’Donohoe Memorial Class 2 Handicap- 1100 metres

When Jockey R Hancock initially reported that he was to overweight, he was subsequently replaced by S Sheargold (ROUGH AND RECKLESS). Given the circumstances of this matter, no penalty was apportioned to Jockey Hancock.

ROUGH AND RECKLESS- Kicked in the enclosure by another runner and underwent a veterinary inspection on arrival at the barrier, cleared to start.

LITTLE BOMBER- After being loaded, became fractious and cast in the barrier. When able to released, underwent a veterinary inspection and was declared a late scratching at 3.49pm. Prior to declaration of correct weight, all bets on the gelding were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions to apply;

WONGARANDA 0c 4c place
MISS HOFFA 3c place

Trainer G Teal was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate and a veterinary certificate for oral injuries sustained.

WONGARANDA- Inclined to lay out under pressure in the concluding stages.

Race 5: Kevin Woolcock Bracelet Open Handicap- 1100 metres

POWER TO EXCEED- A little slow to begin. Rider reported gelding had jarred up on the hard racing surface. Trainer reported the gelding would now be retired.

EMBRACE THE PAIN- Rider reported his mount was inclined the lay out under pressure from the 200m and may have felt the hard track.

Jockey R Hancock was reprimanded for use of his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
