RACE 6. FRENCHVILLE SPORTS CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)     
LATIN LOVE – Apprentice G Semmens pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 11 in total. Apprentice Semmens was fined $500. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration apprentice Semmens’ previous record and the whip penalty guidelines.
 
Race 8. GET YOUR CYS CALCUTTA TICKETS MAIDEN PLATE (1050 METRES)
THREE TEES – Apprentice G Semmens pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 10 times prior to the 100m, 13 in total. Apprentice Semmens licence to rider was suspended for a period of 8 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 30th March 2025 and to conclude midnight 7th April 2025. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the whip penalty guidelines.
 
 
RACE 1: HOWARD FAMILY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (900 METRES)
 
STAR GAMBLE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
UPSTART LEGEND – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Slow into stride. Upon returning to scale, apprentice M Apel reported that UPSTART LEGEND had resented the kick back in the early stages of the event, therefore she elected to shift out wider near the 600m in an attempt to avoid the kick back.
 
BORRELLI – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
MARTINI MOMENT – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ALMOST EVEN – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. When asked for a comment on the performance, jockey/trainer P Randall reported that he was not overly disappointed in the performance as ALMOST EVEN was having its first race start since November 2024. Jockey/trainer P Randall stated that when racing in the heavier going portions of the track, ALMOST EVEN had lost its momentum which proved detrimental to its overall chances, however, further added that the gelding would derive significant benefit from the run moving forward.
 
 
RACE 2: DOOLEY'S TAVERN & MOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (900 METRES)
 
POTESTAS – Bumped shortly after the start by PARTY ISLAND which shifted out.
 
THE HACKNEYDIAMOND – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE UPRISING – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
MISHANI DELTA – As apprentice J Busuttin was unable to claim her full allowance she was replaced by apprentice M Apel. Apprentice J Busuttin was fined $100 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a) in failing to claim her full allowance. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration apprentice Busuttin’s previous record and guilty plea. Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. When asked for a comment on the performance, apprentice M Apel stated that MISHANI DELTA had choked down throughout the event. Trainer J Manzelmann advised he will look to endeavour with possible gear changes moving forward. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
 
PARTY ISLAND – Shifted out on jumping, bumping POTESTAS shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed PARTY ISLAND to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer R Williams was advised under the provisions of AR79(4) in that PARTY ISLAND would be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months and must trial/jump-out or gallop 1000m in the presence of stewards prior to racing again.
 
RISING RUBY – Inclined to hung in during the early stages.
 
 
RACE 3: SOJITZ MDS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)
 
LADY MASQUERADE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SADDLES – When asked for a comment regarding the gelding getting back in the early stages of the event, jockey W Satherley stated that SADDLES did not handle today’s track conditions and resented the kick back. Jockey Satherley further added that upon entering the home straight, he was able to obtain a position closer to the rail with no kick back as other runners had shifted wider on the track, which allowed the gelding to be fully tested and went to the line well.
 
LEGISLATE – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
WHITE CHOCOLATE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BEN STARS – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping.
 
GIRRAMAY – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. When asked for a comment on the performance, jockey T Banks reported that GIRRAMAY had slipped on jumping and as a result was slow to muster early speed, resulting in the gelding tailing the remainder of the field. Jockey Banks further added that GIRRAMAY did not handle the track conditions and failed to travel throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
 
RACE 4: PAUL TAYLOR MEMORIAL/GLENCORE ROLLESTON COAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
 
LA PITTRICE – Jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped LIGHT UP THE DAWN, which in turn was carried out, bumping INHISTIME.
 
MUIRON – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards, impeding LOOMING LEGEND. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LOOMING LEGEND – Impeded on jumping by MUIRON which shifted out and TWOPENCE which shifted in.
 
MISS BITTERSWEET – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LIGHT UP THE DAWN – Jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start was bumped by LA PITTRICE which shifted out and in turn was carried out bumping INHISTIME.
 
TWO PENCE – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Shifted in on jumping, impeding LOOMING LEGEND. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
INHISTIME – Bumped by LIGHT UP THE DAWN which was carried out shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 5: KEVIN WOOLCOCK MEMORIAL BRACELET OPEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
 
PARKO – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISTER LARRABEE – Slow to begin and was slow into stride thereafter.
 
AWOL (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Trainer G Bell reported to stewards that she would be looking into the immediate racing future of AWOL (NZ) within her stable.
 
GOLD ACADEMY – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MR TANGLES – Raced wide throughout.
 
TAKE THE LEAD – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISS HOFF – Jumped away awkwardly. Upon returning to scale, jockey T Banks reported that MISS HOFF had anticipated the start today which resulted in the mare jumping away awkwardly, throwing its head in the air, resulting in it being slow to begin.
