General:
Due to technical difficulties the photo finish equipment was not available for this meeting. Placings and margins were determined from the video footage.

Apprentice N. Morton was fined $200 for failing to claim her full allowance in Races 2 and 5.


RACE 1: COTTON GROWERS DIRRANBANDI & ST GEORGE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

BRED IN THE RED – Began awkwardly.

SEALEGS LILLY – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

THE SPIRIT OF JAZZ – Hung out in the early stages. Jockey J. Rudd reported the filly raced greenly throughout the event.

MERINDONNA – When questioned regarding the performance, which was below market expectations, Apprentice M. Schrapel reported the filly was slow into stride and inclined to hang out rounding the home turn. He added that in his opinion the filly would be better suited to races over a longer distance than today’s event.

GOING BALLISTIC – Shifted out shortly after the start. Apprentice N. Morton reported the mare raced greenly throughout the event and was reluctant to race between horses.


RACE 2: ST GEORGE MACHINERY CENTRE/CROPLANDS BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1000M

NOOR DROPPER – Placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

CONFIDENT STAR – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MORE OF THE ZAIM – Brushed another runner rounding the home turn.

REGAL PRINCE - Brushed another runner rounding the home turn.


RACE 3: CUBBIE AG BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP - 1150M

GREAT TOUCH – Slow to begin.

CROISSANTS – Bumped another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.

PACIFIC PUZZLE – Bumped another runner shortly after the start.


RACE 4: MITRE 10/JONES AIR CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M

PARANA – Raced very ungenerously and hung out near the 1200m. Trainer R. Frazer was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Improved onto heels near the 100m and had to be steadied.

SECOND LOVE – Began awkwardly. Jockey C. Eaton reported the gelding hung out throughout the event.

CUBAN FURY – Forced wider by another runner near the 1200m.


RACE 5: QUEENSLAND COTTON ST GEORGE CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1600M

NOTHING VENTURED – Slow to begin.

BILLY GOAT – Shifted out at the start.

BARCELONA BOUND – Hampered at the start and lost ground. Apprentice N. Morton was fined $100 for using her whip more than five times prior to the 100m.
