Race 1: LANSDOWNE MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres

There was a short delay to the start of the first race due to the late arrival of the ambulance.

BROOKLYN BRAWLER – Raced ungenerously throughout and was extremely awkward in his action. Trainer Wayne Baker was advised the gelding was suspended from racing until trailed to the satisfaction of stewards.

PARANA – Shifted in under pressure down the home straight.

PUBLIC FORTUNE – Apprentice N. Morton was fined the sum of $100 for using the whip 7 times prior to the 100m.

ZOOBERNS – Raced ungenerously throughout.

Race 2: NATIONAL JOCKEY’S TRUST/LANDMARK CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000 metres

BETTER OFFER – Jockey S. McCullum was fined the sum of $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

CHANDELIER LASS – Travelled wide for the majority of the event.

MY MATE MARTO – Contacted at the start, then slow into stride.

CAST OUT – Jumped outwards making contact with an outside runner.

YUM SING – Tightened between runners at the 700m losing ground.

DIAMOND KAZ – Fractious in the barrier prior to jumping then jumped awkwardly and was contacted by an inside runner. Jockey J. Babarovich was dislodged in the incident and injured. He was attended by ambulance officers and taken to hospital.



Race 3: LONGHORN TRANSPORT GREAT WESTERN SPRINT HANDICAP - 1000 metres

There was a delay to the start of race three as the ambulance officers attended jockey Babarovich.

J. Lee-Brand was the replacement rider for J. Babarovich on CRYSTAL MATES.

FOUR IRON – Slow into stride and travelled wide in the latter stages and lay in under pressure in the concluding stages.

SCREAMING JET – Jumped inwards.

NOOR DROPPER – Returned to scale slightly lame and was inspected by the veterinarian who suggested the mare had jarred up on the track.

WIGPOOL – Travelled wide in the late stages of the event.

Race 4: GEORGE BOURNE & ASSOCIATES QTIS BM 55 HANDICAP - 1200 metres


FINNIGAN’S FOLLY – Was a late scratching at 2:10pm as there was no rider available after jockey Babarovich was injured.

BONTEMPELLI – Slow to begin.

BUDDY ROCKS – Travelled wide for the majority.

FINAL RUN – Hung for the majority of the event, proving difficult to ride out.

MISS DELIMA – Shifted out under pressure at the 200m and was straightened.

PURPLE EMPEROR – Travelled wide with cover.


Race 5: BLACK TOYOTA TAMBO CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1400 metres


Jockey S. McCullum was the replacement rider on HELLUVA HURRY for the injured J. Babarovich.

LEO’S SPIRIT – Slow to begin and slow to muster speed, then travelled wide for the majority.

CARBON TAIKUN – Travelled wide with cover.

HELLUVA HURRY – Held up for clear running in the home straight.


Race 6: SOUTH WEST FORD NISSAN BM 60 HANDICAP – 1400metres


Jockey C. Dixon was the rider of TAYSTAR and permitted to ride 1.5kg overweight.

Jockey D. Brown was the replacement rider on NORTHERN MAGIC for the injured J. Babarovich.

REGAL PRINCE – Jumped outwards contacting another runner.

TAYSTAR – Contacted at the start and slow to begin.

ROCKET ON BOARD – Travelled wide with no cover.

MEZZANOTTE – Travelled wide with cover.

ROYAL FROLIC – Slow into stride.

SHAFTSMAN – Travelled wide for the majority.
