GENERAL
Jockey J. Hoopert was unable to attend today’s meeting due to transport difficulties. Replacements were made as per the raceday summary.
 
RACE 1: JEFF HANNAFORD PTY LTD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m
1ST – KAVALONG 2ND – KAPACHINO MISS 3RD – SIR BAM 4TH – SEQUOIA MISS
 
LOWER – Trainer G. Richardson was fined $100 for failing to produce the identification card for the mare.
 
AMLECK – Raced greenly in the early stages and bumped with another runner. Raced wide throughout.
 
SIR BAM – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
 
KAVALONG – Raced wide throughout.
 
SEQUOIA MISS – Raced wide throughout.
 
HERE COMES HOLLY – Trailed the field throughout, and finished tailed off. Jockey A. Taylor reported the mare resented the kickback on today’s track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Byrne advised Stewards the mare would now be retired.

1ST – LEADING STORY 2ND – MR BOXVALE 3RD – BOLD TRAVELLER 4TH – POETIC DRAGON
 
HUSSON’S GIRL – Tightened for room at the start.
 
LEADING STORY – Had to be steadied near the 300m when attempting a narrow run, when runners on either side shifted ground marginally.
 
 
RACE 3: RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1000M
1ST – SNUGGLE POT 2ND – SQUEEMI 3RD – COCONUT BAY 4TH – FAINT BLAZE
 
DALIWOY BAY – Bumped heavily with another runner shortly after the start.
 
WAYS AND MEANS - Bumped heavily with another runner shortly after the start.
 
SNUGGLE POT – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
LISTENERA – Raced wide throughout.
 
SQUEEMI – Apprentice J. Hodge dropped his whip near the 100m.
 
 
RACE 4: BRANDON & ASSOCIATES/TARA RURAL SUPPLIES CLASS B H’CAP – 1200M
1ST – THE PLAYROOM 2ND – CASH’S REJECT 3RD – WILD ELEMENT 4TH – BELLA SONG
 
NUSKEE PARKER was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 2.55pm after rearing over in the mounting yard and dislodging apprentice J. Hodge. All monies invested on NUSKEE PARKER were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable:
 
13 cents in the dollar for the winner #9
17 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #9
13 cents in the dollar for second place #2
17 cents in the dollar for third place #8
 
SP bets are not subject to deductions.
 
Trainer’s representative P. Sexton was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race behaviour. Apprentice J. Hodge was subsequently examined by the on-course paramedics and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
HYPNOTIZING – Began awkwardly.
 
THE PLAYROOM – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start. Jockey T. Banks dropped his whip near the 300m.
 
MISS RALPHIE – Bumped with another runner shortly after the start.
 
SIR CLISBY – Had be checked after improving onto heels near the 1000m.
 
 
RACE 5: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL TARA CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1400M
1ST – STORM MAGIC 2ND – SMOOTH TALKER 3RD – SPICE OF LIFE 4TH – MURPHY’S COAL DUST
 
STORM MAGIC – Hung in in the early stages and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SMOOTH TALKER – Raced wide throughout.
 
SPICE OF LIFE – Raced wide throughout.
 
KING OF THE FLAME – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, apprentice L. Tilley reported that after beginning poorly the gelding resented the kickback and was inclined to hang out throughout the event, and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure.
 
 
RACE 6: RPQ PTY LTD BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1400M
1ST – EMMAROSE 2ND – CANID 3RD – KARAHARAGA 4TH – LITTLE JATZ
 
TRUST NO ONE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
PERZERO – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
