GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: ARGUS BUILDERS/OWEN BRODIE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP– 1000M
 
JOMAR’S ELEMENT- Began fairly, however failed to muster early speed and as a result trailed the field throughout the event.
 
SCAPA COVE- Slow to begin.
 
WALLBANGER- Raced wide during the middle stages of the event.
 
ELDIYM- When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, App A. Thompson advised that in his opinion the mare was not suited by the hard racing surface.
 
MRS QUIGLEY- Trainer C Smith advised that the mare settled further back in the field then he had anticipated and added that in his opinion the may not have been entirely comfortable racing in the anti-clockwise direction and on today’s firm racing surface.
 
 
 
 
Race 2: TAROOM PHARMACY/BILL JOYNSON MEMORIAL CLASS B H’CAP – 1200M
 
 
After the conclusion of the event Stewards were made aware that there had been a malfunction with the photo finish equipment and therefore the result of this event were determined without the aid of this equipment.

THE SCOOP- Raced wide during the early and middle stages.
 
MARQUANT- Jumped well however failed to muster early speed and despite the rider’s urgings finished tailed off. When questioned regarding the poor performance neither Jockey D. Rewald or Trainer R Hay could offer a tangible explanation for the poor showing. A post- race Veterinary Inspection revealed the gelding to have swelling in the area of its right eye, which may have contributed to the poor performance. Trainer R Hay was advised he would be required to obtain a Veterinary Certificate for the gelding prior to it next racing.   
 
LIPSTICK EFFECT- Trainer R Smith was unable to provide a tangible explanation in relation to the filly’s poor performance. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have an elevated temperature and a poor post-race recovery. Trainer Smith was advised she would be required to obtain a Veterinary Certificate for the filly prior to it next racing.   
 
 
Race 3: DAWSON RIVER PROD/TOPX/LANDMARK/SAM BARLOW MEM. QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
The start of this race was delayed to 3:00pm to allow the photo finish equipment to be exchanged and tested.
 
MEATBALL- Slow to begin.
 
CROOKED ARROW- Raced wide during the early and middle stages.
 
HOVE ACTUALLY- Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 4: TAROOM WELDING WORX/ DES JOHNSON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1400M
 
DANISH DICTION- Jockey J Missen was reweighed by Stewards when it was identified that he had failed to weigh out with Irons. In issuing a reprimand against Jockey Missen Stewards were mindful of his prior good record in relation to matters such as these and further that it was Jockey Missen himself that reported the matter to Stewards.  
 
OH NO NOT AGAIN- Jockey S. Sweedman was permitted to ride 1kg overweight. Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Jockey Sweedman in relation to this matter and took no further action.
 
MONEY AD- Held up over the concluding stages when GOLD CROWN (A Ross) shifted in under pressure. At a subsequent inquiry App. A Ross was advised to exercise more care in future when shifted ground. In taking the matter no further, Stewards were mindful of contributing factors in relation to this incident.
 
GOLD CROWN- Apprentice A. Ross reported to Stewards that despite her efforts to restrain the gelding it raced fiercely from the 1000m to the 300m. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: LEICHHARDT HOTEL/ BOB SCOTT MEMORIAL OPEN H’CAP – 1400M-
 
SAN VINCENZO- Jumped with its head in the air.
 
No further racing incidents.
