QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT DAWSON JOCKEY CLUB VENUE- TAROOM- SATURDAY 30th DECEMBER 2023 WEATHER: FINE (Race 1) Race 2- Overcast/Stormy Conditions TRACK RATING- DIRT/SOFT RAIL: TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T PrestonStewards – F HartfordClerk of Scales – B WheelerJudge – T Campbell, D Lethbridge, Veterinarian – Dr H OliverStarter – A ErbacherPhoto finish Operator- W Smith GENERAL- After the running of Race 2 at today’s program the weather deteriorated with storm conditions including lightening, strong winds and heavy rain. After consultation with Club officials and riders, with Stewards utilising the QRIC Race Meeting Abandonment Procedure an assessment of the racing surface was undertaken with the racing surface and surrounding areas potentially being unsafe to continue the race meeting with surface water and the black soil surface being boggy. Under the circumstances outlined Stewards decided that Races 3-5 be called off. Race 1: ANIPRO/BILL JOYNSON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M HOLIDAY DREAMS- Raced wide for the majority of the event. BALTIMORE BULLET- Was slow into stride and raced at the rear of the field until approximately the 300m point where it began to improve into the race. Ran home well over the final stages of the event after being held up for a run leaving the 200m point. KARBORS- Raced wide for the majority of the event. SOOPAT- Slow to begin, raced wide for the majority of the event, tended to lay out in the home straight for a short distance before being corrected by the rider. Ran on well over the concluding stages of the event. LEVALET- After beginning fairly, raced at the rear of the field for the majority. RACE 2: BW ARGUS BUILDERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M The commencement of Race 2 was delayed allowing Appr Jky T Noble to be examined by QAS after advising stewards she felt unwell after the running of race 1. After examining Ms Noble QAS advised that in their opinion she was fit to ride for the remainder of the program. RAPID INSTINCT- Raced wide for the majority of the event. SEMPER INVICTUS- Raced wide for the majority. WYARGINE- Slow to begin. AKEED’s GIRL- Raced wide for the majority of the event. MONTAGLIARI- Slow to begin, then as a result of the rider taking hold after the start the mare had its head in the air for some distance. From approximately the 1100m it began to drop back to the rear of the field where it raced for the majority of the event. Began to improve into the race after entering the home straight and finished off the race well over the concluding stages.
