STEWARDS REPORT THANGOOL RACE CLUB – SATURDAY, 27 JANUARY 2018 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – FIRM (2)RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr L CollinsStewards –Mr M Heath (Cadet) Clerk of Scales – Mr M Simpson/ Stewards Judge – ClubVeterinarian- Dr C GoodingSwab attendants – Mr M NewmanStarter- Mr L Wareham/ Mr J Devine Race 1: Owners & Trainers Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap- 1075 metres HI SUGAR- Prior to leaving enclosure, it was observed that the horse had blood its in mouth from a dislodged tooth. The mare was cleared to take its place in the field. Slow to begin. CRIMSON STAR- Slow to begin. HIDDEN THUNDER- Slow to begin. BONINO- Rider reported that near the 800 metres, the gelding hung out. Raced wide for the remainder of the race. CLOUT- Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Jockey D Evans was found guilty of a charge under AR 137 (b) in that he failed to ride the gelding out to the end of the race. Stewards were of the opinion that this action had cost him mount at least 4th placing. Jockey Evans’ licence to ride in races was suspended from m/n 27 January, 2018 up to and including 3 February, 2018 (7 days). Race 2: Members BM 65 Handicap- 1200 metres EXSTRATUM- Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages. ALL HOST- From 800 metres, hung out and raced wide on the track for the remainder of the race. AL’S BRIEFS- Rider reported that the gelding failed to stretch out on the firm track surface. Race 3: XXXX Class B Handicap- 1400m JUST MICHAEL- Raced wide from the 800 metres. MANDOLIN MANNI- Near the 1000 metres, steadied the pace of the race. TWO OF A KIND- Eased near the 1000 metres, when pace of the race slowed. CHANGEINTHEVALLEY- Eased near the 1000 metres, when pace of the race slowed. Race 4: thangoolraceclub.com.au Maiden Plate- 800 metres ELEGANT MISS- Unable to be loaded and harmlessly dislodged the rider. Declared a late scratching at 3.38pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on ELEGANT MISS be refunded and any successful bets be paid less the following deductions. 6 cents Win8 cents Place Trainer B Fitzgerald was advised that the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. EDGED IN LACE- When Jockey D Edmonds advised Stewards he would be overweight, he was replaced by Jockey S Sheargold. Heavy contact with another runner at the start. SELENITE- Began awkwardly. CHRISSY’S SPIRIT- Slow to begin then made heavy contact with TAHITIAN SPIRIT and was buffeted between that runner and SELENITE. FILLY CHIC- Jumped in and made heavy contact with EDGE IN LACE. Race 5: XXXX BM 50 Handicap 800 metres THAT PRETTY GIRL- As Jockey D Edmonds was to be overweight, he was replaced by Jockey R Faehr. Jockey Edmonds was fined $200 for overweight in Race 4 and 5. Dwelt at the start and lost ground. ELDIYM and SALTY’S BOY- Bumped shortly after the start. EXCEL WITH REWARD- Jumped out onto PRINCESS RHYTHM which hampered ROSIE’S SON. Shortly after the start, shifted out and tightened a number of runners to its outside. Jockey P Romeo was advised to use a greater effort to keep his mount straight. BAGGER MUSCLES- Slow to begin. EXCELCAT- Shortly after the start, ELDIYM shifted out to relieve any pressure to runners to his inside, caused EXCELCAT to be taken out onto the hindquarters of LUSHNESS, which was turned inwards. Both EXCELCAT and LUSHNESS become awkward. Apprentice Q Krogh was advised to exercise more care.
