SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
ROCKHAMPTON – 1ST DECEMBER
 
BIG ROCKET – Trainer D Whyte advised stewards that BIG ROCKET had pulled up well from its disappointing effort on the 1st of December and would continue to experiment with the gear in trackwork and report back to stewards on the progress.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards accepted the reasons tendered for the late rider declarations from trainers T Cook and W Baker.
 
Race 1: THANK YOU TRC VOLUNTEERS BM60 HCP 1075M
 
BEPPE – Fractious prior to the start, began awkwardly and was slow into stride as a result. Raced wide throughout.
 
WHOSHOTTHEMAGICIAN – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding today’s performance, jockey W Satherley stated that although he was able to find cover, he was still unfortunately trapped wide for the majority of the event and as a result, his mount was unable to finish off the race in the manner that he had hoped. Trainer D Whyte could offer no explanation for the poor performance and advised stewards’ that he was extremely confident of the chances of the gelding. He would also to report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent.
 
TA CHANSON – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MAGIC ON ICE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SETHLANS – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
YULE MY HERO – Laid out rounding the 800m bend and lost ground as a result.
 
MATERIAL MISTRESS – Stewards permitted apprentice N. Olzard to not claim her full allowance due to the lateness of being engaged for the ride and that she was the only suitable rider available.
 
Race 2: THANK YOU BILOELA PLUMBING WORKS QTIS MDN PLT 1200M
 
ALL HELL – Permission was granted for the gelding to race bare behind after not being able to be reshod. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
ASTRA WALLY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding today’s performance, jockey W Satherley could offer no explanation for the performance. He added that ASTRA WALLY refused to settle throughout the event and was disappointing throughout. Trainer G Bell advised stewards that she would experiment with gear changes at ASTRA WALLY’s next start and if there is no major improvement, the immediate racing future of the gelding would be considered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
NYTHE – Jumped outwards at the start and was slow as a result. Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
MONTAGLIARI – Had to be reshod in the near hind prior to the start. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PICCOLO NIKKI – Very slow to begin. Leaving the 1000m lost contact with the field and took no further competitive part in the event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J Halpin will be advised that PICCOLO NIKKI would be required to complete a satisfactory barrier trial prior to its next start.
 
ROSE ALICE – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ROWBOSITI – Began awkwardly. Became awkward in its stride momentarily rounding the 800m turn.
 
Race 3: THANK YOU FLEXI HIRE BM45 HCP 1200M
 
The start was delayed approximately 40 minutes allowing for remedial works to be conducted on the running rail after PERIODIGAL got away from its handler behind the barriers, while apprentice O. Kendal was dismounted and subsequently galloped riderless and heavily contacted the running rail. PERIODIGAL was declared a late scratching at 2.44pm. Trainer D Rideout was advised that after considering all the circumstances a warning would be placed on the record of the mare.
 
All bets placed on PERIODIGAL were ordered to be refunded and deductions of 5c were applicable on all win bets and 6c of all place bets were applicable.
 
New start times for the final three events of the meeting were as follows:
Race 3 – 3:20pm
Race 4 – 3:50pm
Race 5 – 4:30pm
 
LONERGY – Bumped on jumping with CRAIGLEA ETNA.
 
AFROGINASOCK – Raced wide throughout.
 
RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – Jumped outwards abruptly at the start dislodging jockey A Butler and took no part in the event. Shortly after the winning post the gelding made heavy contact with the outside running rail and a subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS to have several lacerations to its fore legs. Trainer S Mesken was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start.
 
Jockey A Butler was subsequently assessed by the QAS officers and cleared of any injury.
 
CRAIGLEA ETNA – Jumped outwards out the start bumping LONERGY. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
IMAGINE THAT – Began awkwardly. Laid out noticeably around the 800m bend. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHILL OUT MISS – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LYNRIC LASS – Declared a late scratching at 3.21pm after refusing to load. Whilst mindful of LYNRIC LASS’ history in relation to refusing to load, stewards also had to also consider that certain gear that was required to load LYNRIC LASS wasn’t used by the barrier attendants, and therefore stewards elected to take no further action on the mare’s record.
 
Stewards ordered all monies invested on LYNRIC LASS to be refunded and deductions of 23c on all win bets and 18c on all place bets were to be applied.
 
GABRIELLE – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 4: FGCM OPEN HCP 1300M
 
PARKO – Began awkwardly.
 
MOST IMPRESSIVE (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 11.21am when Trainer G. Bell advised stewards that she had presented the incorrect horse to todays meeting. Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by G Bell and took no further given the circumstances. G. Bell was also advised to exercise greater care in the future.
 
HANOVER SQUARE – Slow into stride.
 
SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Slow to begin and tailed off from the field for the entirety of the event. Apprentice E Molloy reported on scales that her mount never travelled throughout the event and was disappointing in its finishing efforts today. She added that she believed the immediate racing future of SCHAPPOSE (NZ) would now be considered by connections. Trainer T Cook confirmed that SCHAPPOSE (NZ) would now be considered for retirement.
 
Race 5: TRC RACING SATURDAY JANUARY 13 2024 BM55 HCP 1600M
 
DEMURRAL – Began awkwardly and was slow as a result.
 
HERE COMES LENNI (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
PACKAGE – Jockey M. Butler was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
NATIVE BEE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
ADAM’S APPLE – Began awkwardly.
 
PATRICK’S ME MATE – Raced wide throughout.
 
EMPIRE CLUB – Laid in rounding the 1000m bend. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey H Phillips stated that in her opinion EMPIRE CLUB could not run out a strong 1600m.
 
DELIUS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
FEUDALIST – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
READYENTIME – Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
 
CREEDEMPTION – Stewards gave permission to jockey L. Miller to ride CREEDEMPTION 2.5kg overweight as the only other suitable rider elected to not accept the ride. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
