In assessing penalty stewards took into account Jockey Watson’s exemplary record in regard to the rule.Race 7: Evergreen Racing Surface BenchMark 60 – 1609 metresJockey F. Edwards’ licence to ride in races was suspended under A.R. 137A for using the whip on SPIRITED SAINT on 8 occasions prior to the 100 metres, a number of which were in consecutive strides, the suspension to commence at midnight tonight, Friday 26/02/2016, up to and including Thursday 10th March 2016. Stewards took into account his poor record in relation to the rule. ----------Race 1: Follow us on Twitter QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap - 1000 metres1st – MIM'S POET 2nd – FLAT TO STACK 3rd – CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY 4th – CRAIGLEA GHETTO CRAIGLEA QUEUES - injured in the float en route to the course and was a late scratching, at 12.18 p.m.FLAT TO STACK – The start was delayed when the colt proved difficult to load. Trainer S. Sigvart was told that a warning will be placed on the colt’s barrier manners. Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.CRAIGLEA GHETTO – Knuckled on jumping, then shortly after the start made contact with another runner. Inside the final 100 metres was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of another runner.CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY – Was bumped shortly after the start.MCESKY – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Following the running of this race the track rating was upgraded to GOOD (3).Race 2: Like TTC on Facebook QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1200 Metres1st – CRAIGLEA DEKEN 2nd - CASINO THOUGHTS 3rd – LILLY KAREENA 4th – WICKED CRIME WICKED CRIME – Slow to begin.CASINO THOUGHTS – On returning to scale Apprentice Q. Krogh reported that after being slow to begin his mount failed to respond to his urgings in the early stages. Was inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.Shortly after the start LILLY KAREENA (Jockey S. Kaya) shifted in and carried TOXICITY (Apprentice M. Kai) inwards onto CRAIGLEA ALTISE (Jockey P. Cullen), resulting in both of those runners making heavy contact and becoming unbalanced. Jockey Kaya was severely reprimanded and told to ensure that he is sufficiently clear before shifting ground.Approaching the turn near the 900 metres WICKED CRIME (Jockey N. Day) shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in CRAIGLEA DEKEN (Jockey A. Butler) shifting in and away from that runner into the running of BOOK A FLIGHT (Jockey D. Simmons), which had to be severely checked and lost considerable ground. For some distance after this WICKED CRIME continued to lay in. Trainer R. Long Was told that a warning will be placed on the colt’s racing manners. Mr Long said that he would now experiment with the horse’s gear.Race 3: XXXX Gold Handicap – 1200 metres 1st – DAZZLE ON 2nd – GREEN ANCHOR 3rd – SMOOTH GENERAL 4th – BO ROSSA FIELD MARSHALL – Began awkwardly with its head up and was crowded for room shortly after. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Shortly after straightening was inclined to lay in, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten. Jockey W. D’Avila was fined $100 under A.R. 137A for using his whip on the gelding 7 times before the 100 metres.SMOOTH GENERAL – Slow to begin.BO ROSSA – Began awkwardly and shifted out very abruptly, resulting in its rider, becoming unbalanced. GREEN ANCHOR – Was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.AERIAL PING PONG – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, Jockey D. Simmons explained that he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to take up a leading position, in accordance with its established racing pattern, however when another runner improved to his inside he was left racing one off the running rail. He said that even allowing for this, his mount was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. Trainer J. Manzelmann undertook to report back in the days subsequent. Race 4: Join the TTC 100 Club Now Maiden Handicap – 1000 metres1st – HOPEFULLY GOOD 2nd – WOLF CREEK 3rd – RAINING DOLLARS 4th – CRAIGLEA ALDI GOLD CLAIM – When the blinkers could not be fitted on the filly stewards permitted it to race without that gear.GREEN BANANAS – Buffeted between runners at the start. Passing the 600 metres had to be steadied to avoid the heels of another runner, which shifted in marginally.MAGIC GLOW – Rounding the home turn had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HOPEFULLY GOOD (Jockey S. Kaya) which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey S Kaya was reprimanded.FORTUNE MASCOT – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, Apprentice M. Haley could offer no explanation other than that in his opinion the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelmann undertook to report back in the days subsequent. SOME SUNNYDAY – Slow to begin. Was inclined to race ungenerously in the middle stages.SHE’S WANTED – Slow to begin.
