For a short distance near the 1100 metres attempted to buck, then near the 900 metres laid in and commenced to race ungenerously with its head in the air. Near the 600 metres, whilst racing ungenerously, improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Stable representative Mr S. Johnston was told that a warning will be placed on the filly’s racing manners and if it performs similarly in future, it will be placed in barrier trials to rectify its waywardness.

1st – MAURIZIO 2nd – CHINABOB 3rd – LOVER OF LIFE 4th – BETTER CALL SAUL

LOVER OF LIFE – When questioned regarding his riding of the mare, Jockey D. Hayse explained that he had been instructed to take up a position with cover. He said that after beginning particularly well from the outside barrier, when runners to his inside showed superior speed he elected to restrain his mount in an attempt to find cover. He said that the only way this could be achieved was to restrain to the tail of the field, where his mount travelled comfortably throughout, and after obtaining clear running on the rail in the straight the mare ran on well. The explanation was noted.

CHINABOB – On returning to scale Jockey P. Cullen reported that his saddle slipped back near the 400 metres.

Race 6: Follow Us On Twitter BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1609 metres

Rounding the turn near the 800 WANTABETHEONE (Jockey G. Kliese) shifted in when not quite clear and carried REMOS (Apprentice G. Mitchell) in onto PEDESTRIAN (Apprentice C. Jokic). Jockey Kliese was told to exercise more care in future.

Rounding the turn near the 400 metres AUSSIE JEWEL (Jockey G. Watson) was momentarily tightened for room, shifted in and carried SNITZEL ROSE (Apprentice M. Kai) in onto OUR PROMISE CI (Jockey W. D’Avila), which also was carried in towards the running of CANNES CONI (Jockey D. Hayse), which had to be checked. WINDSOR GOLD (Jockey J. Felix), which was following, was also hampered.

KENNYNOPAS - When questioned regarding his riding Jockey N. Day said that after being slow to begin and crowded for room at the start he elected to ride his mount at the tail of the field with cover, where it travelled only fairly throughout. He added that rounding the home turn he placed his mount under pressure in an attempt to follow MIDNIGHT SONG (Jockey A. Allen), however at this point his mount did not respond, and for this reason he desisted from applying pressure to his mount in the early part of the straight. He added that when again placed under pressure approaching the 100 metres KENNYNOPAS then responded and ran to the line strongly. His explanation was noted.

WINDSOR GOLD – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.

PEDESTRIAN – Inside the final 50 metres was held up on heels and went to the line without being fully tested.
