Race 1: Jodie Kennedy Event Management Class 6 Plate – 1300 metres
1st – KING COBIA 2nd – RIVARIVA 3rd – BOBCAT 4th – SHEKOU

LEAVE PASS – Injured itself this morning. Late scratching, at 9.50 a.m. on veterinary advice. Trainer A. Cameron was told that he must provide a veterinary clearance before the gelding will be permitted to race again.

KING COBIA – As Jockey A. Butler was overweight, Jockey D. Simmons was substituted as rider of the gelding. Jockey Butler was fined $200 under A.R. 120(b).

SHEKOU – Bumped at the start then raced keenly in the middle stages.

CRAIGLEA FOCUS – Bumped at the start.

Following the running of this race the track rating was downgraded to SOFT (5) retrospectively.

Race 2: AGM Home Improvements Maiden Plate - 1400 metres
1st – I AM BRUSE 2nd - DYNAMIC EMBRACE 3rd – HIDDEN DAISY 4th – WOLF CREEK

GOLD CLAIM – Knuckled at the start.

DYNAMIC EMBRACE – Crowded for room shortly after the start. Over-raced when the pace was slow in the middle stages. Approaching the 200 metres had to be steadied when disappointed for a run. Was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

WAR SHADOW – Bumped at the start.

WOLF CREEK – Shifted in at the start and made contact with another runner.

Shortly after the start THE HURRICANE (Jockey D. Simmons) had to be checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of I AM BRUSE (Jockey F. Edwards), which shifted in marginally.

FEVERET – Over-raced when the pace was slow in the middle stages.

Approaching the turn near the 900 metres WOLF CREEK (Apprentice C. Jokic) shifted in when not quite clear of HIDDEN DAISY (Jockey P. Cullen), which was carried in, momentarily tightening the room of MOCCADILES (Jockey A. Coome). Apprentice Jokic was reprimanded.

THE HURRICANE – On returning to scale Jockey D. Simmons reported that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

GABONIA - Apprentice N. Summers was fined $100 under A.R. 137A for using the whip on the mare in two consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.

Race 3: Wacko’s Entertainment BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st – QUEEN CAESAR 2nd – KENNYOPAS 3rd – MADEMOISELLE ZARIZ 4th – DAMKY

KENNYOPAS -The explanation tendered for the late declaration of Jockey D. Hayse was accepted. Slow to begin, then shifted out abruptly shortly after the start.

OUR LITTLE MIRACLE – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the mare, Jockey A. Butler said that, despite being momentarily tightened for room in the early stages, his mount travelled comfortably throughout in a rearward position, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn did not respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality.

DAMKY – Lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 4: Ritzo Homes QTIS 2-Y-O Plate (Set Weights) – 1200 metres
1st – SAYROTHY 2nd – TYZONE 3rd – CRAIGLEA AMITY 4th – CRAIGLEA BARINA

WILD AZ WILL – Slow to begin.

MUST BE OBEYED – Slow to begin then crowded for room shortly after the start.

CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY – Crowded for room shortly after the start. In the home straight laid in, despite the efforts of its rider.

CRAIGLEA BARINA – Rounding the turn near the 900 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied.

LIKER – For some distance in the early part of the home straight raced in restricted room.

Race 5: Colliers International Townsville Weight for Age - 1000 metres
1st – DAPH ‘N’ ALF 2nd – CHATEAU DETTORI3rd – CHEVAL ARTENTE 4th – MISHANI GLADIATOR

FIESTY BELLE – Began awkwardly.

CLEAVER – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

CRAIGLEA CRUZ – When questioned Jockey A. Coome said that after beginning only fairly his mount was unable to muster its customary early pace and never travelled comfortably at any stage of the event.

DAPH ‘N’ ALF - Jockey A. Butler was suspended for 1 week, to commence at midnight on Saturday 9th April upto and including Saturday 16th April under A.R. 137A for using his whip on the gelding on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres,2 more than is permitted under the rule. Stewards took into account Jockey Butler’s poor record in relation to the rule.

Race 6: Key Motors Mazda & Subaru Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – VEE FORCE 2nd – FIVE STARS 3rd – RULISTIC 4th – WE FOUND IT

VEE FORCE – When Jockey K. Rockett was unable to fulfil his engagement for personal reasons, Jockey S. Wilson was substituted.

LOCKIEBE – Slow to begin, then crowded for room shortly afterwards.

FIVE STARS – Bumped heavily at the start.

SONADOR ROSE – Bumped heavily at the start. Apprentice N. Summers was fined $100 under A.R. 137A for using her whip on the filly in 2 consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.

ORCHESTRAL PRINCE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900 metres had to be steadied when momentarily crowded for room.

WE FOUND IT – Raced keenly in the middle stages.

PUBLIC AFFAIR – Held up in the early part of the straight, and approaching the 200 metres was disappointed for a run and had to be shifted out to obtain clear running.
