1st – MYSTIC HARMONY 2nd – RANDOM WAY 3rd – GENERAL BEERS 4th – HE’S HARADA’S SON

RED SOLO – Acting on a confirmed phone call, the gelding was a late scratching at 10.18 a.m on veterinary advice.

DAESY DANORO – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground (5 lengths). Trainer Mrs L. McCormack was told that prior to racing again the filly will have to perform satisfactorily in a trial.

RANDOM WAY – Began awkwardly.

VLADIMIR – Was slow to begin, then over-raced and refused to settle throughout the early stages.

TRY BEFORE DUBAI – After being crossed in the early stages, commenced to race keenly. When questioned about her riding rounding the home turn, in particular as to how the favourite and eventual winner MYSTIC HARMONY was able to obtain a run to her inside, Jockey B. Thomson said that although she was aware that she had MYSTIC HARMONY to her inside, her mount was already under pressure at that point and was inclined to lay out under riding, resulting in her shifting wider on the track. Jockey Thomson was advised to ride her mounts in a competitive manner at all times and not leave herself open to query.

HUMPTY BUMPTY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 2: The Reclining Rockers Here Saturday 16th July QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres

ADEPERO – On returning to scale Jockey F. Edwards reported that his mount knuckled badly on jumping, and failed to stretch out.

REDMIA – Slow to begin, then crowded shortly thereafter. When questioned regarding her riding Apprentice B. Grylls said that her mount never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race and was constantly under pressure. She said that in her opinion the filly may not have backed up from its first-up run.

Passing the 1000 metres SHE’S A RINGO (Jockey A. Coome) had to be checked and lost ground when crowded for room by FATAL FINALE (Apprentice L. Attard), which shifted in away from HURAI (Apprentice M. Haley), which was racing very keenly and shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

PALE FACE ROCKET – Held up and unable to obtain clear running rounding the home turn. Was inclined to lay out under pressure over the final stages.

Race 3: The Ville Resort-Casino Prelude QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – TYZONE 2nd – CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY/LIKER (DH) 4th - FLAT TO STACK

STEWARDS considered an objection lodged by Apprentice C. Jokic, the rider of ALBERT THE ROCKET which finished 5th, against FLAT TO STACK (Apprentice S. Fawke) being declared 4th, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official video films and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that shortly after straightening FLAT TO STACK shifted in towards the running of ALBERT THE ROCKET and momentarily crowded the running of that gelding. However, bearing in mind the margin of ¾ of a length between the two runners and the manner in which both horses went to the finish, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred ALBERT THE ROCKET would have finished ahead of FLAT TO STACK. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed and the judge’s placings ordered to stand.

ALBERT THE ROCKET – Slow to begin.

WATCH ME DAZZLE EM – Began awkwardly, then was bumped shortly after.

LOVE RED – Crowded for room shortly after the start. Passing the 200 metres improved onto the heels of a weakening runner and had to be shifted out abruptly.

TYZONE – Rounding the turn near the 500 metres, when awkwardly placed on heels, shifted out and made contact with another runner.

FLAT TO STACK – Passing the 400 metres was bumped and carried wider on the track.

MUST BE OBEYED – Held up in the home straight and did not obtain clear running until the final 100 metres.

Trainer Ms C. Lindgren confirmed the instructions issued, however was reminded of her obligation to inform stewards of any proposed change in tactics.
