Race 1: www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au Maiden Plate - 1200 metres
1st – SAN VITTORIO 2nd – GENTLY GUIDED 3rd – PANDAMAN 4th – BOSSY BEACH

JUST ANGEL – After being placed in the barriers became fractious. The filly was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Slow to begin.

SCHREIBER – Began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced in the saddle and losing considerable ground.

DIAMONDNET – Slow to begin. Passing the 600 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied.

Approaching the first turn, near the 900 metres, SHADOW MOUNTAIN (Jockey D. Simmons) had to be steadied when momentarily crowded for room between PANDAMAN (Apprentice C. Jokic) and GENTLY GUIDED (Apprentice Z. White), which shifted out marginally.

Rounding the turn near the 850 metres PANDAMAN (Apprentice C. Jokic) which was inclined to race keenly had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of BOSSY BEACH (Jockey N Day) which shifted in marginally.

MY SPECIAL LADY – Trainer Mr A Bailey was told that a warning will be placed on the filly for being uncompetitive and should it not improve at its next race start it will be required to barrier trial to prove its competitiveness.

EIRIAN – Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 2: www.skyracing.com.au QTIS 2-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – BOLD GYPSY 2nd - CRAIGLEA EPSOM 3rd – CRAIGLEA ZING 4th – MAGIC SAGA

COOL ROSE – Was presented in the enclosure with heavy work shoes. Stewards ordered the late scratching of the filly, at 1.36 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on COOL ROSE be refunded and that the following deductions apply:

2¢ in the dollar for the win, for the winner, BOLD GYPSY
1¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, BOLD GYPSY
2¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, CRAIGLEA EPSOM
2¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, CRAIGLEA ZING

Trainer Mrs M. Preston was fined $300 under A.R. 141A. In assessing penalty stewards took into account Mrs Preston’s exemplary record.

MACCA’S HEART – Slow to begin.

BLUMISS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100 metres improved onto heels.

DRAGON ROCKET – Began very awkwardly with its head up and shifted in abruptly. Raced ungenerously throughout the early and middle stages.

TALK ABOUT A SAGA – Slow to begin then was crowded for room shortly after.

WILD AZ WILL – Buffeted between runners at the start.

WATCH ME DAZZLE EM – Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner.

MY FRIEND ROB – Bumped shortly after the start.

Rounding the home turn ENGAGE THE DUKE (Apprentice B. Grylls) hung out and carried THUNDER DRUM (Jockey N. Day) out onto TALK ABOUT A SAGA (Jockey S. Wiseman), which in turn was taken out into the running of DRAGON ROCKET (Jockey D. Simmons), which was hampered. Trainer Mr S. Sigvart was told that a warning will be placed on ENGAGE THE DUKE for hanging out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a minor wound in its mouth. Trainer Mr S. Sigvart advised stewards that the gelding will now be spelled.

THUNDER DRUM – On returning to scale Jockey N. Day reported that his mount raced very keenly throughout and had to be continually steadied away from heels in the middle stages.

Race 3: SKY Thoroughbred Central Class 3 Plate – 1000 metres
1st – CANNY AND THE JET 2nd – FASTCAR 3rd - BOMBER MISS 4th - GUTZ CI

KIRABO – The start was delayed when the tongue-tie on the gelding became detached. Jockey S. Wilson was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the finish.

ALL ROSIE – Stood flat-footed at the start. Trainer Ms J. Hassett was told that a warning would be placed on the gelding.

MARK’S LEGACY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. Approaching the 200 metres had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CENTREHALF FORWARD (Apprentice M. Murphy), which shifted out when not clear. Apprentice Murphy was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

CENTREHALF FORWARD – Slow to begin.

Race 4: SKY Sports Radio Class 1 Handicap – 1400 metres
1st – TURKEY BEACH 2nd – FORTUNE MASCOT 3r d – CASINO ESCAPEE 4th – ZATACHIO

SILVER BOWS - Slow to begin.

MISS HAVISHAM – Shifted out at the start and bumped HIDDEN DAISY.

PROUD WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.

NO DOUTE BEN – Was inclined to race ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

CUT ‘N’ POLISH – Raced keenly in the early stages and got its head up.

LUSHAN – On returning to scale Jockey R. Thompson reported that his mount was inclined to race keenly throughout and as a result was left without a finishing effort and was disappointing.

Race 5: SKY Racing Townsville Guineas QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1609 metres
1st – CRAIGLEA DEKEN 2nd – VAUNTING 3rd – LITTLE WEALTH 4th – SHIGZAG

CRAIGLEA DIXIE – Public announcements were made advising patrons that at its most recent start the filly led, contrary to instructions and today will be ridden with cover, if possible. Was ridden accordingly.

MISHANI PHOENIX – Crowded for room shortly after the start.

HARJAKA – Slow to begin and was inclined to lay out in the early stages.

Passing the 1400 metres STAR FURY (Apprentice B. Grylls) shifted in, despite the efforts of its rider, made contact with the running rail, causing considerable movement of the rail. VLADIMIR (Apprentice T. Tincknell), which was following, went through the rail, dislodging its rider. In the incident HARJAKA (Jockey D. Simmons) was hampered, shifted out and crowded MISHANI PHOENIX (Apprentice S. Fawke) out onto UNI DRAGON (Jockey C. McIver), which was taken onto the heels of RISE TO FAME (Jockey R. Thompson) and blundered. Apprentice Tincknell was examined by the Ambulance Officers and stood down from her further engagement

UNI DRAGON - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was restrained out of the race near the 600 metres, did not reveal any abnormalities. Nevertheless, Trainer Mr J. Pointon was told that UNI DRAGON must trial before its next race start. .

STAR FURY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.

Race 6: Talbot Heatley Lightning Open Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – ONE BAR NONE 2nd – CLEAVER 3rd – HOTEL PARADISO 4th – LE CAP/CRAIGLEA WANDOO (DH)

LE CAP – Fractious in the barriers, reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

THE GALLOWS - Slow to begin.

STARLISTIC – Began awkwardly.

HOTEL PARADISO – Passing the 900 metres Apprentice Payne accidentally dropped her whip. Leaving the 600 meres had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room to the inside of ONE BAR NONE.

ISA TALA – Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. Over the final stages had to be steadied when crowded between ROYAL PHYSICIAN and CRAIGLEA WANDOO, which shifted in marginally.

WISHFUL – Raced wide without cover throughout.


Race 7: Mater Townsville Cup Day This Saturday BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1300 metres
1st – GOLDEN METEOR 2nd – FINAL CHAPTER 3rd – MIATA 4th – OKAY SWIFT

GOLDEN METEOR – When Apprentice T. Tincknell was dislodged from her mount in Race 5 and unable to fulfil her engagement, Apprentice L. Attard was substituted.

SECRET STEALTH – Crowded for room shortly after the start.

LOCEANO – Crowded for room shortly after the start.

ZINDZELA – Raced keenly throughout the early stages.

ROCHAALLOR – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

JUST CALL ME LOUIE – Rounding the home turn shifted out in search of clear running and carried LOCEANO wider.
