1st – ENCHANTRIX 2nd – CLEVFILLY 3rd – BOLT ON BY 4th – FATAL FINALE

SCHREIBER – Was a late scratching at 8.27am. Mr J Manzelmann was reprimanded for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time after it won at Bowen on Saturday and was ineligible for this race under the provisions of A.R. 114.

BOLT ON BY – Public announcements were made advising patrons that the gelding was backing up after running 5th of 7, beaten 8 lengths over 1100 metres at Bowen on 6th August.
Had to be restrained when crossed by OUR RECIPE (B. Thomson) near the 800 metres and was continually steadied away from heels when over-racing for some distance thereafter. Jockey B. Thomson was advised to exercise more care when crossing in front of other runners. Crowded for room for a short distance on straightening.

SAGALETZ CI – Came together with another runner at the start. Lost ground when unable to muster speed in the early stages. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

FATAL FINALE – Bumped at the start.

CLEVFILLY – Slow to begin. Jockey S Wilson accidentally dropped his whip on straightening.

BRED TO RULE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

SEDUCTIVE DREAM – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room inside the final 100 metres.

CRAIGLEA GHETTO - Near the 900 metres over-raced for a short distance when crossed by another runner.

CRAIGLEA EVELYN – Raced keenly outside the leader in the early stages.

LIKER – Near the 200 metres had to be switched around heels to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Race 3: Tribute to John Deguara Class 3 Plate – 1000 metres
1st – LADY SIOUX 2nd – GUTZ CI 3rd - BOMBER MISS 4th - PINYARDA

Shortly after the start FOREST GAZELLE (B. Thomson) had to be checked when crowded for room by MAGIC SAM (Jockey D. Sparks) which, after beginning awkwardly, was taken in by LADY SIOUX (Jockey G. Kliese), which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey G. Kliese was reprimanded under A.R. 137(a).

MAGIC SAM – Raced greenly throughout.

Race 4: Townsville Amateurs Saturday 27th August BenchMark 60 Handicap – 1609 metres
1st – SIX BEAT 2nd – FILLE VILAINE 3r d – BO ROSSA 4th – ETRANGERE

JAMALKA – Slow into stride.

BO ROSSA – Rounding the home turn had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of another runner.

DASH OF BLACK – Rounding the home turn was momentarily tightened for room between FILLE VILAINE, which shifted out marginally, and SIX BEAT. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.

RESTART MY HEART – Passing the 1300 metres had to be restrained after improving onto heels.

Race 5: Tribute To Neida Lord Open Handicap - 1200 metres
1st – ACCIDENTAL 2nd – CRAIGLEA WANDOO 3rd – HORACIO 4th – GUNDY STAR

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey S. Wiseman, the rider of HORACIO which finished 3rd, against CRAIGLEA WANDOO (Jockey P. Cullen) being declared 2nd, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the patrol films and taking into consideration of their own observations stewards established that shortly after straightening CRAIGLEA WANDOO improved from behind HORACIO and shifted out and made contact with that runner. Shortly after, HORACIO improved and both runners raced on level terms, however inside the final 100 metres CRAIGLEA WANDOO again gained an advantage and held HORACIO on the line. As such the protest was dismissed and the judge’s placing ordered to stand.

On straightening DAZZLE ON (Apprentice C. Jokic), which was inclined to race ungenerously with its head up, had to be steadied when momentarily crowded between HORACIO (Jockey S. Wiseman), which shifted in marginally, and CRAIGLEA WANDOO (Jockey P. Cullen), which shifted out. ACCIDENTAL (Jockey N. Day) and GUNDY STAR (Jockey W. D’Avila), which were following, were hampered as a consequence.

DAZZLE ON – Raced ungenerously throughout.

HOTEL PARADISO – Passing the 500 metres was restrained from the heels of runners in front.

CRAIGLEA WANDOO – Rounding the home turn was awkwardly placed on heels.

GUNDY STAR – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
