RACE 1: HQ - Civil Construction QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap -  1200 metres
1st  - SIMPLY MARVELLOUS2nd -  NORTHERN DIVINE 3rd  -  BROKEN FINGER  4th -  SUPER ANNIE
 
SIMPLY MARVELLOUS – Was unable to muster pace in the early stages after being bumped by another runner on jumping.  Near the 900 metres commenced to over-race when crossed by another runner.
 
ALPINE MAGIC - Shifted out soon after the start and bumped another runner.
 
ROTHE AND ROLL - Bumped by another runner, which shifted out shortly after the start. Inclined to race greenly throughout and had to be steadied near the 800 metres. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
NEW CALEDONIA - On returning to scale Jockey S. Wilson reported that the filly was inclined to hang out from near the 500 metres until the home turn.

RACE 2: SKY Thoroughbred Central Maiden Handicap -  1000 metres
1st  - GANGSTER  SQUAD  2nd  -  TERETTO  3rd  -  BUCK'S ME BOY  4th  -  LA JESSIANNE
GANGSTER SQUAD - Examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to take its place in the field.
 
TERETTO - Shifted out abruptly on jumping and hampered another runner.
 
LA JESSIANNE - Hampered by another runner and shifted in abruptly on jumping. Jockey S. Wiseman reported that the mare raced greenly throughout.
 
ANAKIE - Shifted out at the start and inconvenienced another runner. Raced greenly throughout.
 
CHATEAU JOLIE - Inconvenienced by another runner, which shifted out on jumping.
 
RACE 3:  Jodie Kennedy Event Management BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st  -  PINYARDA  2nd  -  ROYAL PHYSICIAN  3rd  -  POWER SUPPLY  4th  -  JAGONAL
 
NEWSPAPER - Shifted in on jumping and bumped another runner. Was inclined to lay in from the 500 metres until the home turn.
 
ROYAL PHYSICIAN - Bumped by another runner, which shifted in on jumping. Steadied when crossed by another runner near the 900 metres.
 
MORE NORTHERLY - Steadied off heels near the 900 metres.
 
Near the 900 metres JAGONAL (Jockey F. Edwards) crossed ROYAL PHYSICIAN (Apprentice E. Cass) when not quite clear. Jockey F. Edwards was instructed to exercise more care in similar circumstances. 
 
JAGONAL - Was inclined to race fiercely after improving into the lead passing the 900 metres.

RACE 4: Townsville Bulletin Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap  - 1000 metres
1st  -  OUR RECIPE 2nd  -  AUTHADANE3rd  -  MOLONGLE HERO  4th  -  TELEPHOTO

MITCHY'S INSTINCT - Bumped with another runer at the start.
 
TELEPHOTO -  Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
LEGENDARY PLUME - Slow into stride after beginning awkwardly.
 
MOLONGLE HERO - Slow into stride.
 
GRAVETTIAN - Slow into stride.
 
Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred near the 500 metres resulting in interference to AUTHADANE (Jockey W. D'Avila) and MAINSHAFT (Jockey P. Cullen).  After taking evidence from those two riders and Jockey S. Wilson, the rider of GRAVETTIAN, stewards established that Jockey Wilson was attempting to improve into a marginal run to the inside of MAINSHAFT, Jockey D'Avila also attempted to improve to the outside of MAINSHAFT and to the inside of the heels of OUR RECIPE (Jockey B. Thomson). This placed alll three runners in restricted room and resulted in Jockey D'Avila and Jockey Cullen having to check their mounts and being instructed to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
RACE 5:  Audi Centre Townsville Class 2 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st  -  JUMBO RUMBO 2nd  -  CORNISH TALES  3rd  -  OUT LITTLE MIRACLE  4th  -  REMOS
 
JUMBO RUMBO - Fractious in the barriers, jumped outwards at the start and was inclined to lay out under pressure down the running.
 
ULTRA RED - Began awkwardly.
 
HELOW TUCKER - Slow into stride. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SAN CARLOS - Slow into stride.
 
OUR LITTLE MIRACLE -
 
Jockey D. Sparks pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that near the 500 metres he alowed LOG CABIN to shift in when insufficiently clear, taking CORNISH TALES (Apprentice C. Jokic) in onto PERCULES (Jockey W. D'Avila), resulting in that horse being severely checked and losing its rightful running. Jockey Sparks was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on 15th October 2016, up to and including midnight on 22nd October 2016.
 
 
RACE 6: Glenn Sexton Constructions Open Handicap - 1300 metres
1st  -  BLAME GAME  2nd  -  HORACIO  3rd  -  ONE BAR NONE  4th  -  RISE TO THE TOP

ONE BAR NONE - Slow to begin and had to be restrained after improving onto heels near the 800 metres.
 
RISE TO THE TOP - Was inclined to over-race in the early stages
 
RACE 7: - TTC Jockey Of The Year "Graham Kliese" BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st  -  ISLAND BAR  2nd  -  ETRANGERE/WANTABETHEONE (D/H)  -  4th  -  FLYING ONE MORE
 
CARLINO'S WAY - A pre-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse did not reveal any abnormalities.
 
DASH OF BLACK - Slow into stride.
 
FLYING ONE MORE - Near the 1200 metres had to be restrained away from heels.
 
CRAIGLEA FOCUS - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
WANTABETHEONE - Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
ISLAND BAR – Stewards questioned Trainer Mr R Nelson regarding today’s improved performance. Mr Nelson told Stewards he had given the horse a short freshen up for today’s race and did expect a good showing however was not of the opinion the horse would suit this shorter 1400 metre distance therefore only moderately supported it. Mr Nelson also stated that ISLAND BAR did not handle the tight turning Atherton track at it’s last start. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred near the 800 metres which resulted in SHOT OF COURAGE (Jockey G. Kliese) being checked and losing ground. After taking evidence from Jockey Kliese and Jockey D'Avila, the rider of FLYING ONE MORE, viewing the official patrol films and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that FLYING ONE MORE, which was hanging in at the time, made heavy contact with SHOT OF COURAGE, which shifted away from the rails simultaneously, stewards took no action against either rider.
