Race 1: JIM ROBERTS LOCKSMITH QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
HOT TOP – Crowded for room on jumping.
 
CRAIGLEA ARION – Connections advised stewards on arrival at the course that the colt had undergone chiropractic treatment prior to today’s race. This information was broadcast by media outlet. Pre-race veterinary examinations of the colt prior to being saddled and again at the barriers cleared the horse to start. Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover in the early stages.
 
JUEUN IN NEW YORK – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: CARLTON MID BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1609M
 
KWANZA – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, proving difficult to ride out.
 
FABULOUS CHILD – Improved on to heels near the 800m and had to be steadied. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight, proving difficult to ride and having to be straightened on a number of occasions.
 
OUR SINGLE DOUBT – After being slow to begin, was then urged along and overraced in the early and middle stages.
 

 
Race 3: NPS CORPORATE CLASS 6 PLATE – 1000M
 
CRAIGLEA ALDI – Slow to begin. On return to scale W. D’Avila reported that the gelding was uncomfortable throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
 
I WANNA BREAK FREE – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards.
 
SIMPLY MARVELLOUS – Slow to begin.
 
MOLONGLE DREAM – Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: ALB DISTRIBUTORS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M
 
FRENCH BUBBLES – Began awkwardly.
 
PRINCE OF MINE – Slow into stride.
 
SPREAD THE NEWS – Forced inwards by another runner approaching the 50m, hampering DAY OF THE FOX.
 
DAY OF THE FOX – Checked approaching the 50m to avoid the heels of another runner which was forced inwards.
 
LEIGHWAY – Apprentice E. Smith, in the presence of senior rider N. Day, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that leaving the 80m she permitted her mount to shift in and dictate the line of SPREAD THE NEWS (B. Thomson), which was taken inwards on to the rightful running of DAY OF THE FOX (S. Wilson), which had to be checked. Ms Smith’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 10 February and expire at midnight on Monday 19 February 2018.
 
RAVENHEART – Began very awkwardly, became unbalanced and shifted inwards.
 
MAGNUS RULES – On return to scale rider J. Stanley advised stewards that it was not his intention to lead today, however after being caught wide from his wide barrier, and with the lack of early pace, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
CLEVELAND DREAM – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GROHL – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 5: THE COFFEE CLUB QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
 
FIELDS AVENUE – Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post.
 
HAMMERTONE – Slow to begin.
 
PROUD KING – Shifted out at the start, bumping another runner.
 
ROTHSTOCK’N’BELLA Bumped by another runner on jumping and shifted out inconveniencing the runner to the outside. Shifted in near the 500m, hampering another runner. Rider F. Edwards was advised to show greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
FEMALE OFFICER – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
POISE ‘N’ STYLE – Blundered at the start and was then buffeted between runners and lost ground. Steadied near the 500m when crowded for room by another runner which shifted inwards.
 
TEXAS GAL – Began awkwardly and was bumped on the hind quarters by another runner, becoming unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 6: THE VILLE RESORT-CASINO BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1300M
 
POWER SUPPLY – Threw its head in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, rider C. Whiteley stated that after being slow to begin, the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the race and was very disappointing. He reported that connections had advised him that, following today’s performance, the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Trainer G. Hughes advised stewards that the horse has had a long preparation and that he will now give consideration to the horse being sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Stewards will contact Mr Hughes in the coming days for further clarification of the horse’s preparation going forward. 
 
NO BITING – Laid in for the majority of the event. Rider R. Payne dropped her whip leaving the 200m.
 
Race 7: CLASSIC COFFEE COMPANY RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 H’CAP – 1000M
 
GREY SAMBUCCA – Began awkwardly.
 
RAINING DOLLARS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
IN HER HAND – Raced wide for the majority of the event and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormality. Whilst stewards noted it was the horse’s first run from a spell, trainer K. Keys was nonetheless advised that a warning would be placed on the horse for being uncompetitive today.
 
AUTHENTIC SWING – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CHIC SOX – Began awkwardly.
 
DROPYOURBUNDALL – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SUPAMETEOR – Reared prior to the gates opening and lost ground.
 
JUST PRETENDS – Raced wide for the majority of the event and hung out rounding the home turn, shifting wider.
 
WANTABETHEONE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 8: MATER EMERGENCY DEPT BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1400M
 
DAMKY – Shifted in near the 1000m, placing runners to its inside in restricted room. Rider E. Smith was reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to prevent her mounts from shifting ground. 
 
DANZ THE MAN – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
SPORTS TYCOON – Forced inwards near the 1000m, hampering another runner.
 
CARLINO’S WAY – Shifted in slightly near the 100m, hampering another runner which shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BUSH VERSION – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
SONSEE ARRAY – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 100m and when being corrected, shifted out, becoming awkward on the heels of another runner which shifted in slightly, and was restrained.
 
CRAIGLEA CEON – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1000m and was restrained.
