General
Jockey G Goomany who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to travel difficulties was replaced as per summary.
 
Race 1. JOIN US FOR TSV CUP FRIDAY 14 AUGUST MAIDEN HANDICAP (2) 1200m
GEOVANNI- Fractious prior to the start dislodging rider out the back of the starting barriers. Jockey Z White declared herself fit to fulfil her engagement. The gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly and shifted out tightening another runner.  Improved onto heels having to be restrained passing the 1000m.
BON RUBY- Tightened between runners on jumping.
RICH PRINCESS- Shifted in marginally at the start tightening another runner. Raced wide the majority.
NORWEGIAN WOOD- Raced ungenerously passing the 1000m.
LIGHT FIELD- Slowly into stride. Restrained off the heels of another runner which was racing ungenerously passing the 1000m. Held up for clear running on several occassions throughout the home straight and was unable to be fully tested until the 50m.
NOTTA LOVER- Slowly into stride. Restrained off the heels of another runner passing the 1000m.
RUN RAMPANT- Jockey G Kliese advised that after being caught wide early he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and eventually obtain the lead and a position on the inside running rail near the 1000m.
DIVINE MELODY- Raced wide the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off foreleg.
Stewards inquired into the reasons BON RUBY (F Edwards) had to be restrained passing the 600m. After taking evidence from the riders involved and viewing that patrol footage it was ascertained that DIVINE MELODY (K Swaffer), which was racing ungenerously when being restrained, shifted in marginally tightening GAME OF CIRCLES (W D’Avila), which inturn shifted in resulting in BON RUBY becoming awkwardly placed between runners and having to be restrained.  As Stewards could not be satisfied that blame could be attributed to any individual rider no further action was taken. Nonetheless App. K Swaffer was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR131(a).
GAME OF CIRCLES- After returning to the mounting yard was struck by another runner which kicked out in the mounting yard. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near- side hock.
KINGS KNIGHT- On return to scale Jockey P Romeo advised his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event placing him at a disadvantage. Trainer Mr M McLellan was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners. Lost its off-fore plate in running.
 
Race 2. MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE NOW MAIDEN HANDICAP (1) 1200m
Jockey C Whiteley, whom, due to a misunderstanding, was engaged to ride both NOIR JACK and RAW INSTINCT in this event, was replaced by G Watson as the rider of NOIR JACK.
HERSHISER- As the gelding was resuming after a lengthy absense from racing, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
NOIR JACK- Slow to begin.
COLONEL PENAGA- Began awkwardly.
APOLOGY ACCEPTED- Inconvienced when placed in restricted room, after improving onto heels between the 1000m and the 800m. Shifted in marginally passing the 600m momentarily hampering another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near side hind.
LEDGER- Raced greenly in the middle stages. Momentarily hampered passing the 600m.
PANTONE- Shifted rounding the home turn taking TICKET KEEPER (P Romeo) wider momentarily inconvienencing COLONEL PENAGA (C Jokic). Jockey D’Avila was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
CALCULUS- Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 3. BROWN BROTHERS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1200m
BERNIE BEEL- Dislodged its rider on route to the barriers. Galloped a short distance before being restrained. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Jockey L Tilley declared himself fit to fulfil his engagement. Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Trainer Miss G Holt was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings pre-race manners.
CLEVER HUNTER- Slow away.
CRACKER ESSGEE- Shifted in marginally passing the 1000m momentarily hampering another runner. Jockey P Romeo was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
GOODBYE EARL- Momentarily hampered passing the 1000m when a runner to the outside shifted in.
IMALI - Over-raced from the middle stages taking charge of rider Z White and shifting wider from the 800m. Raced wide from that point to the home turn.
GOLD REVENGE- Raced 3 wide for the majority.
Following the running of this race Jockey L Tilley was attended to by QAS officers complaining of a sore right wrist. Jockey was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
 
Race 4. CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES CLASS 6 PLATE 1400m
 
SILENT EXPLORER – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden positively from its inside draw, in the early stages, should circumstances permit. This information was conveyed via social media and on course broadcast. Was ridden accordingly. Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stges.
 
UNBIASED- Slowly away. Restrained off heels near the 1000m.
 
BREAK MY STRIDE- Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
ATTIQUE- Raced ungenerously in the middle stages improving onto heels near the 900m having to be restrained for some distance.
 
SO YOU DREAM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near side fore heel.
 
Race 5. TAB DOWNLOAD THE APP CLASS 2 PLATE (2) 1000m
KAORU PRINCESS – Connections advised that the filly which, last start, raced ungenerously in the early stages, when being restrained in attempt to obtain cover, would be allowed, circumstances permitting, to settle where positioned after jumping. This information was conveyed via social media and on course broadcast. Was ridden accordingly.
SFILZA-  Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Raced wide the majority.
BETTER THAN GOLD- Bumped with another runner soon after the start.
MAGIC CODY- Began awkwardly. Raced wide the majority.
WALLACH- Raced wide for the majority.
COLD POWER- Slow to begin. After becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of another runner when attempting to obtain clear running, shifted out abruptly passing the 200m making heavy contact with KENNEDY TERRACE (A Butler) which was forced wider and bumped heavily with MASTER AGAR (N Nelson). Stewards were satisfied that the incident could be attributed to the racing manners of COLD POWER and that no individual rider was to blame. Nonetheless all riders were reminded of their obligations under the provisions of AR131(a). Shifted in under pressure down the running.
Declaration of correct weight was delayed when, on returning to scale, Jockey Z White rider of 2nd place getter, COLD POWER, advised she believed that when approaching the winning post her mount was struck by the whip of Jockey C Whiteley, rider of 1st place getter DELUXE ROCKER. After viewing the patrol footage Jockey White elected not to protest and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers. After scrutinising the official footage further Stewards were satisfied that, whilst these two runners were racing tight approaching this point in the race, there was no evidence of this incident having occurred and concluded the matter.
 
Race 6. CLUDEN PARK SPORTS BAR NOW OPEN CLASS 2 PLATE (1) 1000m
CEEBIZ KIT- Shortly after jumping checked off the heels of MOUNT COSTA (G Kliese) which shifted out, despite the efforts of its rider.
SUCH A WHIT- Shifted out on jumping tightening another runner. On return to scale Jockey J Stanley advised his mount had raced ungenerously throughout the event.
SPARKLING FACET- Shifted in on jumping tightening another runner.
ARITOMO- After being marginally slow away was buffeted between runners for a short distance. Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 600m.
MOUNT COSTA- Over-raced for a short distance passing the 700m. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m bumping with another runner.
ZULU TUK- Bumped by another runner approaching the 100m.
VEHEMENT- Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 7. COCA COLA AMATIL OPEN HANDICAP 1609m
I CAN I WILL I AM- Restrained early in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Jockey Z White was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip prior to the 100m.
DIVINE SERVICE- Raced ungenerously for some distance after leaving the 1300m after being crossed by another runner.
 
Race 8. WELCOME BACK TO TTC BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2000m
RESORT- Fractious prior to the start.
ANARCHY- Slow to begin. Shifted wider passing the 700m in order to improve.
NEWSTEAD- Slow to begin.
RED PHANTOM- Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages. Restrained off heels near the 750m.
SIR VAN DYKE- Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted wider passing the 700m in order to improve.
CAPTAINS WAY- Shifted out passing the 1900m momentarily inconveniencing another runner.
ROCCO- Momentarily inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out near the 1900m. Shifted 3 wide from the 800m in order to improve.
 
Race 9. SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m
The start of the race was delayed when a strapper was injured during the pre-race parade. After being attended to by QAS officers the person in question was transported to Townsville University Hospital for treatment. Amended start times are as per summary.
DUNATUN- Began awkwardly. Shifted out to obtain clear running passing the 300m momentarily inconveniencing a tiring runner.
ISILMO- Slow into stride. On returning to scale Jockey C Jokic reported that she had sustained a mild injury to her left foot when exiting the barriers. Jockey Jokic advised she will seek treatment for the injury if necessary.
CHEVAUX- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running, slightly inconveniencing a tiring runner passing the 300m.
HIGH BEAM- Began awkwardly. Momentarily inconvenienced when tiring passing the 300m. Raced wide the majority.
SOLDIERS- Raced very ungenerously in the middle stages.
DREAM I CAN- Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 600m.
MYSTIC EYES- Shifted in passing the 900m when not fully clear of MONKEY MAGIC (P Cullen) which shifted in and tightened STELLAR KNIGHT (A Butler) causing that runner to brush the inside running rail having to be restrained. Jockey Felix was reprimanded as a result of this incident. In considering penalty Stewards took into consideration Jockey Felix’s exemplary record in relation to the rule.
MONKEY MAGIC - A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off hind pastern.
 
Race 10. EMU SPORTSWEAR OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
DESERT COWBOY- Slow to begin.
TAMBO’S HEART- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
LAST CHANCE- Slow to begin.
CEDARWOOD- Obliged to steady momentarily when attempting a marginal run approaching the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
LOVE IS BLIND- Shifted out under pressure near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
HOLY COMMAND- Shifted in under pressure near the 200m.
BRING IT HOME POP- Raced wide the majority.
 
Race 11. NQ PLAQUES AND TROPHIES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1400m
REAGAN - Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden conservatively from its wide draw, in the early stages, should circumstances permit. This information was conveyed via social media and on course broadcast. Was ridden accordingly. Raced ungenerously when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages. Laid in under pressure for some distance passing the 200m.
 
FERINGO- Slow to begin. Shifted wider near the 200m to obtain clear running.
PLEASEURE BOMB- Began awkwardly.
BUON NATALE- Raced ungenerously throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
CANDY GIRL- Raced wide the majority.
CHEEKY REWARD- Over-raced in the middle stages.
MIKEYS TURF- Bumped by another runner which shifted wider near the 600m. Raced wide the majority.
EROE- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted wider passing the 600m bumping another runner.
ABERRATION- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted wider passing the 600m and raced very wide rounding the home turn.
