QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB SATURDAY 8TH JUNE 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – True Entire CoursePENETROMETER – 5.68 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. NealStewards – D. Griffiths, S. Nosworthy (exc. R1) GENERALNil Race 1:CLIPSAL-SCHNEIDER BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1609 M OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) – Began awkwardly. CASTILE – Over raced for a short distance in the back straight. VIENNA RAIN – Held up for clear running between rounding the home turn to the 200 metres. PHOENIX FLYER – Over-raced for a short distance rounding the first turn and was steadied off the heels of MEDAL (NZ) for a short distance. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. MEDAL (NZ) – Slow into stride. ZOUHOPE – Slow to jump away. Raced three-wide and without cover throughout the event. RUPERT'S BOY – Began awkwardly. Race 2: T F WOOLLAM MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 M ARTURETTA – Hampered on jumping when ELECTRIC HASHMAL shifted in. MRS GLOOP – After an extended spell, MRS GLOOP underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced wide with cover throughout. ZABOOG – Crowded passing the 200 metres when inside EFFEMINATE which laid in. Upon returning to scale, Jockey T. Leslight reported that ZABOOG hung out throughout. EFFEMINATE – Raced wide and without cover throughout. Laid in passing the 200 metres and crowded ZABOOG which had to steady. Shifted out under riding near the 100 metres and took the running of HARDTOCRACK which was checked. Rider Ryan Wiggins admitted a resultant breach of AR131a, and after consideration of penalty his licence to ride in races was suspended from the close of racing on Thursday the 13th of June up to and including racing on Friday the 21st of June 2024. (8 days) ELECTRIC HASHMAL – Shifted in abruptly on jumping hampering ARTURETTA; raced wide and without cover throughout. HARDTOCRACK – Trainer T&P Rowe were fined $100.00 pursuant AR106(1) after HARDTOROCK was presented without blinkers. Held up for clear running rounding the final turn; checked passing the 100 metres. MUMMIFICATION – Was unable to be tested over the final 150m when held up for clear running room. BUSHMAN LEGACY – Began awkwardly. TSUNAMI FORCE - Held up for clear running rounding the final turn and passing the 200 metres was taken wider to obtain clear running. Race 3: NEXANS-OLEX BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M NORTHERN PRIDE – crowded when inside of ARCHIE’S LAW passing the 200m when that runner laid in momentarily. GDANSK – Began awkwardly. HALLSIDE HAMMER – Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide throughout. DARK REBEL – Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start hampering LADY RAIN. Raced wide throughout. REALEZA – Slow into stride. Held up for clear running between rounding the home turn to the 200 metres. ARCHIE'S LAW – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start having not raced for some time. Laid in passing the 200m taking NORTHERN PRIDE inward., shifted out passing the 100 metres under riding crowding the running of THE SHERPA. Jockey Frank Edwards was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) and reminded of his obligations to maintain his correct running when circumstances permit. COLD POWER – rider Justin Stanley reported that COLD POWER was held up for the entirety of the home straight and was unable to be tested. LADY RAIN – Shifted in on jumping then was hampered by DARK REBEL which shifted in. CAVENTE – Slow to jump away then hampered shortly after. SMART THINKER – Crowded for room passing the 200m when NORTHERN PRIDE was taken inward by ARCHIE’S LAW. Stewards adjourned an investigation into LADY RAIN being checked shortly after leaving the barriers. Race 4: PIERLITE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400 M FORGIATO (NZ) – Raced wide throughout the event. MAJESTICS REQUEST – Held up rounding the home turn. ELLEVES – Began awkwardly. VANCOUVER BAY – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn before shifting to the inside of SPECIALTIE to gain clear racing room. RELIABLE DUDE (NZ) – Bumped with SPECIALTIE at the start: raced wide without cover throughout the event. SECRET LOCATION – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight. SPECIALTIE – Bumped with RELIABLE DUDE (NZ) at the start; laid out over the concluding stages. FLAMING TORCH (NZ) – gave ground from the 600 metres and finished well back; a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed a near-side shoulder injury. Trainer S. Royes was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to FLAMING TORCH (NZ) next racing. STORE BEACH – gave ground over the latter stages and finished well back; a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings; trainer Mr Les Gordy reported that the gelding had felt the effects of today’s racing surface; lost its off-side hind plate during the running. Race 5:COMMSCOPE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 M HIT SNOOZE – Laid in shortly after the start. Approaching the winning post, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. I EFF OH – I EFF OH was declared a late scratching at 4:22pm after escaping riderless behind the barriers and travelling an excessive distance prior to being recaptured. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on I EFF OH be refunded with the following deductions to apply – 1st – OBLIQUITY 26c the win, 19c the place2nd – SKYLIGHT SONG 18c the place3rd – LADY DAMUS 19c the place Trainer S. Royes was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. SKYLIGHT SONG – Lost its near-side front plate in running; laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. FIGHT IN THE DOG – Raced wide throughout; laid out over the concluding stages. MCNAIR (NZ) – Hampered shortly after jumping away when HIT SNOOZE laid in.DICKIN MEDAL – Lost its off-side hind plate in running. LADY DAMUS – Held up for a short distance near the 250 metres. OBLIQUITY – Bumped on jumping. ANOTHER JACK – Contacted the barrier on jumping losing ground. LISTEN LISTEN – Reared as the barriers were released badly unbalancing rider Graham Kliese and in consequence lost ground and settled well back; given the delay caused by the late scratching no action further action was required; raced wide throughout. PARA PARK CHANCE – Shifted in on jumping hampering MISS WHITE which in turn was taken in onto OBLIQUITY. MISS WHITE – Hampered on jumping. Struggled to maintain contact with the field and finished well back. Upon returning to scale, jockey Chelsea Jokic advised that the mare felt indifferent in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Race 6: LAWRENCE & HANSON QTIS 2YO CLASSIC 1200 M AGE OF AQUARIUS – Bumped on jumping. HEAD HONCHO – Jumped out at the start and bumped with DANCE FOR ME RANDY; hung out from the 600 metres onwards and raced very wide rounding the final turn. Trainer Mr Tom Button was advised HEAD HONCHO must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. HELL OF A BENTLEY – Slow into stride. OUTBACK BANDIT – Jumped in at the start and bumped heavily with AGE OF AQUARIUS. SMART MISSION – Bumped by THAT’S IT near the 900m and became unbalanced. Became awkwardly placed on the heels of KOBAYASTAR passing the 200m. THAT'S IT – Jumped out at the start crowding WEBS; had to steady away from the heels of ALLEZ PARIS making the first turn and when being restrained shifted in bumping with SMART MISSION which was unbalanced for a short distance. ALLEZ PARIS – Ran wide when making the first turn crowding OUTBACK BANDIT which was taken wider on the track. BETTER SHOW – Made the turn near the 900 meters awkwardly. SILVER GLITTER – Refused to jump away on terms and lost all effective chance. Trainer Mr Tom Button was advised that SILVER GLITTER must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. TIME TO PROPHET – Jumped out at the start and bumped with SMART MISSION. Commenced an inward movement passing the 1100 metres and near the 1000 metres when shifting in across the heels of AGE OF AQUIARIUS, contacted that runners’ heels when AGE OF AQUIARIUS got its head up and momentarily steadied. In consequence, jockey Lacey Morrison became unbalanced and TIME TO PROPHET then bumped with HEAD HONCHO. WEBS – Crowded at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards inquired to an incident passing the 1,100 metres where TIME TO PROPHET contacted the heels of AGE OF AQUARIUS and blundered.After consideration of all matters it was established that TIME TO PROPHET was directed inward passing the 1,100 metres to obtain a position closer in, and when shifting in contacted the heels AGE OF AQUIARUS and blundered after AGE OF AQUIARUS got its head up when traversing the apex of the turn and momentarily lost momentum. In consequence ALLEZ PARIS, which was in behind, was taken wider to avoid TIME TO PROPHET and in doing so dictated OUTBACK WARRIOR wider on the track.Given all circumstances, particularly the greenness of some runners, the Stewards determined no further action was required.
