Griffiths Stewards – R. Neal, K. Dean, S. Nosworthy (Cadet) GENERAL Workplace drug testing of jockeys was carried out at today’s meeting. Stewards approved the following overweights:Race 2: N. Day +0.5kgRace 2. A. Sewell +0.5kgRace 4. A. Sewell +0.5kgRace 6. A. Sewell +1.0kgRace 7. C. Whiteley +0.5kg Stewards have commenced an investigation into the attempted scratchings of MIDNIGHT BOOM and STRATHCONA in Races 7 & 8 respectively. Race 1: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M Due to a technical issue, the photo finish for Race 1 was not operational and the Judges placing’s were made manually. The issue was rectified between Races 1 and 2. ARTHUR'S DREAM – Raced greenly over the concluding stages. UMABETT – Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the middle stages. HOLD MY HALO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide in the middle stages. MISHANI TALENT – Bumped on jumping. MISHANI VOLTAGE – When being ridden hard passing the 1100 metres, raced ungenerously for a short distance Following the running of Race 1, the track was upgraded to a Good 4. Race 2: HYGAIN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000M The start was delayed allowing the blinkers to be changed for LIGHT A DRAGON. BUBBLES'N'FROTH – Raced ungenerously when entering the course proper. Raced wide in the middle stages. Shifted out passing the 200 metres hampering THREDBO which was taken onto FAITH OVER FEAR. Jockey J. Stanley was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 131(a) due to shifting out when not sufficiently clear. LIGHT A DRAGON – Reared on jumping. When passing the 900 metres, raced ungenerously before shifting out onto the heels of LAKE VARNA and blundered. LIGHT A DRAGON then continued to race ungenerously for some distance. Trainer D. Amos was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s race manners. BLAZING BONNIE – Raced wide throughout. FAITH OVER FEAR – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. DYNA POWER – Jockey N. Day was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 190(2) for failing to obtain approval from the Stewards to ride overweight. Began very awkwardly. Had to take evasive action passing the 900 metres when LIGHT A DRAGON blundered. LAKE VARNA – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. ARTURETTA – Hampered shortly after the start. Had to be steadied away from the heels of OHMIKKIUSOFINE when passing the 200 metres. LOVES AFFECTION – Shifted out shortly after the start hampering THREDBO. Held up rounding the home turn up to a point passing the 250 metres. OHMIKKIUSOFINE – Shifted in shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. LADY DE VEGA – Began awkwardly. THREDBO – Hampered shortly after the start. Race 3: GEORGIE HOLT TRAINER OF THE YEAR 23-24 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000M JOHN JOSEPH – Slow into stride. On returning to scale, Jockey A. Butler stated that the gelding which was having its first start for Trainer G Holt would derive benefit from today’s run and be better suited over further ground. HARTSHORN – Trainer S. Royes was fined $100.00 for presenting HARTSHORN to race with incorrect gear under the provisions of AR 106(1). ZI WIN – Laid in rounding the home turn across the heels of NO LOVE LOST. EXTRA FREE – Slow to begin. MR KOBO – Raced wide throughout. Shifted away from the heels of ZI WIN at the 350 metres when that runner was being corrected after laying in. Race 4: LADBROKES OWN SPRING OPEN HANDICAP 1000M CIRCULARITY – Trainer L. Hatch was fined $100.00 for presenting CIRCULARITY late into the saddling enclosure under the provisions of AR 194. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near fore fetlock. Trainer L. Hatch was advised thar the gelding would require a veterinary clearance. ALL TIME LEGEND – Began awkwardly. When being steadied away from the heels of CIRCULARITY to improve passing the 200 metres, shifted out momentarily inconveniencing ROUGH CUT JEWEL. MISSILE THUNDER – Raced wide in the middle stages. Laid in over the final 400 metres. INVINCIBLE JET – Began awkwardly. MISTER LARRABEE – Slow to begin. KISS ME LATER – Trainer B. Williams was fined $100.00 for presenting KISS ME LATER late into the saddling enclosure under the provisions of AR 194. ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Inconvenienced by ALL TIME LEGEND when passing the 200 metres after that runner shifted out. Race 5: CHILLI JAM HORSE OF THE YEAR 23-24 BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1609M VANCOUVER BAY – Raced wide with cover throughout. THE REAL THING – Raced wide in the early stages. GOING NUCLEAR – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. TYCOON LAD – Raced wide in the early stages. GIGI FILLE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. BRAND NEW (NZ) – Had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of MISS SHALAA when passing the 500 metres. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn. PATTI WAGGIN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. FERGYLISCIOUS – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. PLUCKERCARN – Held up for clear running up to a point passing the 200 metres before shifting across the heels of GIGI FILLE. Race 6: COWBOYS LEAGUES CLUB CLASS 6 PLATE 1200M INVESTOR – Held up for a short distance passing the 200 metres. SPIRIT MEISTER – Raced ungenerously over the concluding stages. Stewards noted rider N. Day exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+2) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use, no further action was taken. REALEZA – Slow to begin. TYCOON BEAU – Raced keenly in the early stages when being steadied. PRINCIPESSA (NZ) – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground.MARTINI MOMENT – Shifted in shortly after the start hampering PRINCIPESSA (NZ). Race 7: LACEY MORRISION JOCKEY OF THE YEAR 23-24 BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M SPECIALTIE – Shifted in and bumped with MIRROR ILLUSION on jumping. Shifted out under pressure when passing the 100 metres and bumped MY ARTIE which became unbalanced. MY ARTIE – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to hang in over the concluding stages. Became unbalanced when bumped by SPECIALTIE passing the 100 metres. HARVESTA – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. MIRROR ILLUSION – Bumped on jumping. WINNING SAGA – Slow to begin. DICKIN MEDAL – Trainer G. Hughes was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for a late declaration of rider. MIDNIGHT BOOM – Began awkwardly. Race 8: A. GABRIELLI CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1400M BRAVE MASO – Held up rounding the home turn. SIR MAXIMUS – Raced wide with cover throughout. VALENKI – Held up rounding the home turn. THE SHERPA – Broke through the barriers on the first occasion. Underwent a pre-race veterinary exanimation and was passed fit to race. Raced wide throughout. STRATHCONA – Raced wide with cover throughout. DAWN STRIKE – Raced wide with cover throughout. LINE OF KINGS – Raced keenly in the early stages and was taken wider by its rider.
