Race 1: Hatch Racing QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1050m

BRAIN ON FIRE – Became fractious in the mounting yard, dislodging K. Yoshida. K. Yoshida was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his engagement. Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Following this event, jockey K. Yoshida was unable to fulfil his remaining engagements due to illness and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

SET WAIT – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 400m. Jockey N. Tomizawa was fined $300 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m, and on 2 consecutive occasions.

BEAU SNIP – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.

TEMUJIN’S CHOICE – Raced wide from the 600m and was inclined to lay in in the home straight.

BOILING – Became awkwardly placed at heels near the 550m when SMOOCH shifted in. Apprentice J. Oliver, rider of SMOOCH, was advised to exercise more care.

SMOOCH – Raced wide in the early stages and was inclined to lay in in the home straight.

BUDDY HOLLOW – Bled from both nostrils during the event. Connections were advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and would be required to perform a 1000m gallop before stewards prior to its next race start.

WINNING KISS – Jockey S. Bogenhuber was fined $100 for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.



Race 2: R&D Electrical Benchmark 80 H'cap - 1300m

FASTA THAN LIGHT – Blundered at the start.

MR ALFRANCO – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

NEVETUS – Apprentice T. Brooker reported at scale that her mount raced ungenerously and hung out and failed to finish off when placed under pressure. Raced wide from the 800m.

FIERCELY DEFIANT – Raced ungenerously when being restrained for a short distance near the 800m.

LAST SIGHT – Raced wide throughout.


Race 3: Oakey Sand & Gravel Class 1 H'cap – 1200m

The start was delayed when LAMBENCY had to be replated behind the barriers.

HOT LIPSTICK – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

EIGHT CHANCE – Began awkwardly. Brushed the running rail approaching the 800m.

FAMOUS GROUSE – Bumped at the start.

MAN OVERBOARD – Bumped at the start. Jockey J. Missen was fined $100 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

THE GOLDEN PIG – Raced ungenerously when being restrained near the 800m. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer J. Williams advised that the horse was having its first start in 8 months, which suited the gelding by being fresh, and had worked and trialled well in the lead up to today’s event.

MOSPORT – Laid in approaching the 800m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight, preventing jockey C. Small from riding his mount out to the finish with his usual vigour.

JORJA’S JET – Raced ungenerously and hung out for a short distance near the 800m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

MAN OF LAW – Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced wide.

THE BIG CROWNING – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

DEEP DOWN - Raced wide without cover. Jockey N. Tomizawa was reminded of his obligations regarding whip use on horses which are out of contention. Bled from both nostrils during the event. Connections were advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and would be required to perform a 1000m gallop before stewards prior to its next race start.

Race 4: Platinum Roofing Class 2 H'cap – 1000m

MUSTOLA GOLD – Bumped heavily at the start.

PARTY TILL DAWN – Bumped heavily at the start and again shortly after the start. Raced greenly in the home straight.

WILL TO RULE – Bumped heavily shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover.

VICTORY LASS – Steadied from heels momentarily near the 400m.

DR DEEJAY – Raced wide without cover. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post race recovery.

DESTIVA – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer B. Ahrens advised that the horse’s previous run at the Gold Coast was its first start in 11 months and, in his opinion, the gelding had gained fitness and experience from that run.

SMOKE HAZARD – Apprentice T. Brooker reported at scale her saddle slipped back on jumping, placing her at a disadvantage throughout.

NYRAMBLA – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 5: AG Rigging & Steel Class 3 H'cap – 1625m

LOST THIEF – Slow to begin.

RED BERETTA – Slow to begin.

OVER THE VENTURE - Bumped near the 700m. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, trainer B. Currie advised that the filly had come to the end of its preparation and would now be sent for a spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

BEAUXBATON – Bumped near the 700m.

CAPSIZED – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 400m.

NATURE BITES – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 6: Toowoomba Locksmiths Ratings Band 0-58 H'cap – 870m

I AM RELENTLESS – Raced wide without cover throughout.

JETTY BETTY – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 400m.

TELEGRAM – Laid in near the 400m and bumped JETTY BETTY. Jockey S. Bogenhuber, rider of JETTY BETTY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that she directed her mount outwards near the 250m when insufficiently clear of TELEGRAM, which had to be checked to avoid the heels of JETTY BETTY. Jockey Bogenhuber was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 10 days, and to commence at midnight, 18 June and to expire at midnight, 28 June. Bled during the event. Connections were advised that as this was the second time that the horse had bled, it would now incur a lifetime bar from racing.


Race 7: Lee Group Electrical Maiden Plate – 1200m

MAXIMUM BREAK – Hung in for a short distance near the 800m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

SABATO – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

HIDONAL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

PACIFIC PUZZLE – Raced wide.

SHEZ OUR DESTINY – Apprentice T. Brooker reported at scale her mount was inclined to lay out for the entirety of the home straight and as a result she was unable to ride her mount out with her usual vigour.
