Race 1: ART & SOUL CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M

PROUD VAL – Raced wide throughout.

PERFECTLY SWEET – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice J. Oliver could offer no tangible explanation for the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance, adding that the horse had worked well leading into the event and he expected a forward showing. Trainer B. Currie expressed disappointment with the performance, however added that in his opinion the horse will derive fitness benefit from tonight’s first up run from a spell and he will look to stepping the horse up in distance at its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ROCK OF GLORY – C. Eaton reported that her mount felt short in its action on returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off foreleg. Trainer D. Johnson indicated that it may be his intention to now spell the horse. Mr Johnson was advised that in the event that the horse is not spelled, he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance prior to its next start. As C. Eaton had not previously breached the whip rules, she was warned for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.

INVITANTE – Began awkwardly. Laid in rounding the home turn.

AL ALMIGHTY – Stewards acceded to a request by trainer J. Dorrington to add extra packing under the saddle as the horse has a high wither. As a result, apprentice L. Tilley was unable to claim down to his allotted riding weight. In the circumstances, Stewards took no action. Began awkwardly, threw its head in the air and then shortly after the start was steadied to avoid the heels of another runner. Laid in rounding the home turn.

Race 2: STRATHAYR BM 75 H'CAP – 1625M

STREET FEVER – On returning to scale apprentice J. Oliver reported that it was his intention to lead tonight’s event, however due to the early tempo he was unable to assume this position but nevertheless settled on the pace. Apprentice Oliver added that when the pace of the race quickened near the 700m the gelding came off the bit and failed to quicken and proved disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer B. Currie agreed that the horse’s performance tonight was disappointing and added that he will now review the gelding’s current preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

UNIQUE MISTIQUE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

DOUBLE EAGLE – Raced wide from the 800m.

CAPSIZED – Apprentice L. Tilley was permitted to ride the gelding when claiming only half a kilogram of his allowance. Apprentice Tilley was fined $300 for failing to claim his full allowance.

Race 3: WELLCAMP AIRPORT CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1300M

As B. Newport failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil this engagement, L. Attard was substituted as the rider of MATILDARE. Apprentice Newport was fined $100.

MATILDARE – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.

YEEZY – Near the 1200m was placed in restricted room and eased when runners either side shifted ground marginally.

NAME AND SHAME – Began awkwardly.

DRUNK ON A PLANE – After being caught wide, rider J. Noske allowed her mount to stride forward and assume the leading position near the 900m.

RUBY BAY – On returning to scale S. Bogenhuber reported that her mount began well and obtained a leading position, however passing the 1000m she was content to allow DRUNK ON A PLANE to cross her to give her cover for the remainder of the event. Jockey Bogenhuber added that when placed under pressure from the 700m the filly failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Jockey Bogenhuber added that in her opinion the filly raced somewhat flat today, which she attributed to the horse being second up from a spell.

ON DEMAND – Raced wide throughout.

SPIRIT OF KIOWA – Tightened for room at the start.

LE CHACAL – Hung out and shifted wider on the track when being restrained near the 900m and then raced wide for the remainder of the event.

Race 4: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1100M

LONHTIME – Shortly after the start was placed in restricted room and eased when runners either side shifted ground. Apprentice J. Oliver could offer no explanation for the horse’s performance. Trainer B. Currie also expressed disappointment with the performance, which he could only attribute to the horse failing to back up after racing on a heavy track at its most recent start. Mr Currie undertook to advise Stewards in the days subsequent to the event if anything comes to light which may have affected the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

BELFLYER – Slow to begin.

ANOTHER RUSH – Raced wide without cover throughout.

SORORITY SISTER – Slow to begin.

TRY ‘N’ CATCH ME – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800m.

Race 5: TYRRELLS WINES MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M

BEAUTIFUL LOVE – Slow to begin. Raced greenly and was inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

SECRET CITY – Bumped another runner at the start. J. Noske reported at scale that her mount raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Trainer B. Cavanough expressed disappointment with the performance of the horse, which was resuming from a 14-month absence from racing. He added that if anything comes to light with the horse’s post-race recovery in the days subsequent to tonight’s event, he will notify Stewards.

SWEET BOBBY – Bumped another runner at the start. Raced wide throughout.

IMPLICATE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

ALLORIAN – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

HYPNOTIZING – Raced wide throughout.

MORE THAN TEARS – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from heels when racing keenly passing the 800m, and then again had to be steadied from heels when hanging in passing the 700m. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.

Race 6: CHARLTON TYRE SERVICE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300M

TRUMP IT – Tightened for room shortly after the start, clipped heels, blundered and lost ground. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

LIBELULA – Apprentice T. Brooker advised that the horse travelled comfortably during the early stages of the event, however was under pressure a considerable distance from home and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

MAXIMUM BREAK – Raced wide throughout.

NORTHERN REVENGE – Bumped by another runner on jumping, then tightened for room, had to be checked and lost ground shortly after the start. Raced wide from the 700m.

Race 7: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1850M

The start of this race was delayed when HERRSCHAFT proved difficult to load.

MISTER BURGESS – Bumped another runner on a number of occasions when attempting to shift out to improve near the 1100m.

HERRSCHAFT – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained during the early and middle stages.

MONACO MIRACLE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

HEY MR DEE JAY – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously with its head in the air when being restrained near the 1750m, then continued to race ungenerously for a short distance. Raced wide throughout. D. Langridge was fined $400 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

ERROL – Bumped by another runner on a number of occasions near the 1100m.

MISS ARKWRIGHT – After passing the winning post on the first occasion was forced to steady to avoid the heels of MISTER BURGESS, which shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice M. Murphy, the rider of MISTER BURGESS, was issued with a reprimanded as a result of his actions.

CASPERCCINO – Raced keenly when being restrained near the 1700m.

TERGRANDE – Raced wide rounding the turn near the 1750m.

LORD DARIUS – As apprentice B. Panya had not previously breached the whip rules, she was warned for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
