Stewards questioned apprentice E. Ljung with respect to her riding of the gelding. Of concern to Stewards was, after being slow to begin, apprentice Ljung’s action in riding her mount along in the early and middle stages, resulting in her racing wide throughout, rather than steadying to a position closer to the rails. Apprentice Ljung advised that she was instructed to obtain a forward position, however the gelding slipped on jumping away and lost ground. Nevertheless, with a view to complying with instructions, she elected to ride her mount along with the view that she may have been able to obtain a position closer to the rail. Having had the opportunity to view the films, apprentice Ljung agreed with Stewards that it would have been more advantageous to restrain in the early stages to a position near the rear of the field. Stewards advised apprentice Ljung that she erred in her riding on this occasion and given her experience, in future she would be expected to make better decisions than she did on this occasion.ENCORE SALL – Trainer L.
