RACE 1: CHARLTON TYRE SERVICE QTIS 2YO CLASS 1 PLATE – 1050M

PRINCE OF FLINDERS – Bumped approaching the 800m.

LANDED – Slow into stride.

GIVUS A CUDDLE – Laid in when ridden along in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

LOST SYMPHONY – Laid out during the middle stages and raced wide throughout.

MRS ED MISSED ED – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

SILVER SCREEN – Worked to the barriers in a strong gallop during the preliminary. Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was cleared to race. Severely tightened for room and checked when SMOOTH VELVET HUNG OUT approaching the 900m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SMOOTH VELVET – Commenced to hang out shortly after the start and approaching the 800m shifted out, made contact with PRINCE OF FLINDERS and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer W. Bannerot was advised that in light of the horse’s racing manners in the early stages the filly will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.

RACE 2: STRATHAYR CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1050M

I AM BOSS – Began awkwardly, made contact with another runner and lost ground.

ANOTHER RUSH – Jumped out at the start, made contact with the hind quarters of another runner and became unbalanced. On returning to scale apprentice E. Ljung reported that her mount raced keenly in the early and middle stages, which she attributed to the horse racing in blinkers for the first time tonight. Apprentice E. Ljung was reprimanded for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.

FINNOMONY – On returning to scale S. Bogenhuber could offer no explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. She added that she recommended to connections to experiment with potentially removing the blinkers for the horse’s next start.

ONE IN ONE OUT – A. Best was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.

TEMUJIN’S QUEEN – Raced wide throughout. Trainer M. Kropp was fined $200 for presenting the horse to race without a surcingle

TURBO TEDDY – Raced wide throughout.

RACE 3: HANNAS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M

JESSIE’S BOY – Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 850m, then raced three wide without cover for the remainder of the event.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT – Slow to begin.

JILL’S JOURNEY – Slow to begin.

LEICA’S LASS – Late scratching at 7:45 am for veterinary reasons.

RACE 4: ART & SOUL RATINGS BAND 0-60 H'CAP – 870M

YOU LITTLE THIEF – Made contact with another runner on jumping away and lost ground. On returning to scale S. Bogenhuber expressed disappointment with the performance and reported that her mount, after being bumped at the start, failed to muster speed and ran on only fairly over the concluding stages.

ENCORE SALL – On returning to scale apprentice E. Ljung reported that her mount, after beginning well, failed to muster the necessary speed to obtain a position closer to the rails and ran on only fairly over the concluding stages. Apprentice Ljung added that in her opinion the horse will be better suited in races over a greater distance than the 870m of tonight’s event.

OTOSHI – Made contact with another runner on jumping away and lost ground. Momentarily steadied when improving on to heels in the early stages of the home straight.

ROCK OF GLORY – Late scratching at 5:50 pm for veterinary reasons.

RACE 5: TYRRELLS WINES CLASS 3 PLATE – 1625M

HAPPY SOUL – When questioned as to the horse’s improved performance, trainer K. Purdy advised that she was very disappointed with the horse’s performance at its most recent start at Doomben where she expected a forward showing on that occasion. Ms Purdy added that for tonight’s event she removed the blinkers and added a tongue tie to the horse’s gear which, combined with, in her opinion, racing in a lesser class event tonight were the major contributing factors to the performance. Stewards noted the explanation.

LOST THIEF – After being caught wide in the early stages, the horse was ridden forward passing the 1300m and obtained a position outside the leader near the 1200m.

PINBALL DAWN – Following the horse’s poor performance, trainer K. Kemp advised that the mare would now be sent for a short spell.

RACE 6: TOOWOOMBA PORTABLE TOILETS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1625M

After viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage, F. Jervis, the rider of SUSHI OLE, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against ONEMORE TWIST being declared the winner, alleging interference from the 100m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, Stewards found that whilst ONEMORE TWIST did shift in over the final 100m, bumping SUSHI OLE on two occasions, they were not of the view that the interference suffered to SUSHI OLE was sufficient to uphold the protest bearing in mind the three-quarter length margin between runners at the conclusion of the event and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings. Nevertheless, N. Nishio, the rider of ONEMORE TWIST, was reprimanded for failing to straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.

FLINCH – Bumped and lost ground near the 50m.

SABATO – After being caught wide in the early stages, the horse was ridden forward approaching the 1300m and obtained the leading position near the 1200m. Steadied for a short distance when placed in restricted room near the 50m.

CASPERCCINO – Slow to muster early speed.

LORD DARIUS – Brushed the running rail near the 900m, became unbalanced and lost ground.

RACE 7: FURNEY STOCKFEEDS MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M

MYTYBYTE – On returning to scale apprentice B. Newport advised that his mount at no stage travelled strongly throughout the event and when placed under pressure rounding the home turn failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing.

SEQUENTIAL STAR – Eased down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had abnormal breathing. Trainer R. Hilton advised that it is now intended that the horse leave his stable. However, Stewards advised Mr Hilton that should the horse race again, prior to resuming racing a veterinary clearance and the results of an endoscopic examination must be provided.

CARRICKS CORNER – Raced ungenerously from the 1200m whilst being restrained until assuming a position one off the fence with cover approaching the 800m. On returning to scale S. Bogenhuber reported that in her opinion the horse may have got its tongue over the bit during the event.
