SUSHI OLE – Raced wide in the middle stages.

FIZZICALLY WICKED - Steadied when placed in restricted room passing the winning post. Stewards questioned apprentice H. English regarding the tactics adopted on the mare. Of concern was apprentice English’s lack of vigour in the first 100m of the race, which saw her trail the field by a considerable distance for the majority of the event. Apprentice English advised stewards that the instructions were to ride the mare quietly out of the gates and obtain a position at the rear of the field. She added that the mare raced further back than she had anticipated, and once in that position received a considerable amount of kickback and was reluctant to improve. Stewards noted her comments, however was of the opinion she had erred in not riding with more vigour in the early stages of the race, and advised apprentice English that, in their opinion, this ride fell below the standard expected at a provincial meeting. However bearing in mind her relative inexperience, they took no further action under the rules, however they would be referring the ride to the Training Department for further review. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

GRAN SABANA – Jockey S. Bogenhuber was fined $100 for using her whip in consecutive strides and also 6 times prior to the 100m.
