SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Toowoomba 31.12.17 – Race 6: In the days following the event, trainer D. Forster advised that VIDAAR was found to be suffering from a virus which may have affected its performance on the night. She added that the horse has been treated accordingly, and it is the intention to continue with its preparation.

GENERAL

Due to the rail position, the starting distances of Races 2 and 3 were amended to 1210m and 1875m respectively.

Race 1: UBET CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1300M

AQUA DELAGO – On return to scale, Apprentice B. Nothdurft was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the conclusion of the event.

INFOMERTIAL – On return to scale, trainer J. Capewell reported that at its first start for the stable the gelding suffered cardiac arrhythmia which was the contributing factor to the horse’s poor performance on that occasion. He added that the gelding has since worked and jumped out well in preparation for today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.

DELANEY’S DESIRE – Steadied from heels at the 1000m, and again at the 800m.

ROYAL EQUIANO – Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner approaching the 1000m.

ROYAL TONE – After being crossed approaching the 1000m, commenced to race ungenerously whilst being restrained and, as a result, shifted out and bumped another runner.

NORTHERN REVENGE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied from heels leaving the 800m.

BEACH DRUM – Slow to begin.

SHEMAGICSMY WORLD – On return to scale, jockey K. Yoshida could offer no explanation for the filly’s poor performance today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. As trainer R. Lipp was absent from today’s meeting, he will be interviewed at a later date regarding the horse’s performance.

Race 2: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE – 1210M

The start of this race was effected manually.

C’MOME PADDYREILLY – Bumped at the start and lost ground.

CARD TRICKS – Laid in in the home straight.

KIMHORSEDASHIAN – Held up for a short distance near the 500m, and again rounding the home turn.

LITTLE MISTER – Jumped in at the start and made heavy contact with another runner. Raced wide throughout.

POOLENZO – Held up for clear running from the 500m until rounding the home turn.

BY THE LAW – Tightened for room on jumping away.

MISHANI PILGRIM – After being caught wide in the early stages, the mare was restrained by its rider, and obtained a position one off the fence near the 700m. Stewards questioned jockey N. Tomizawa with respect to his riding from the 600m. Jockey N. Tomizawa advised that, from his position at the rear of the field, he was reluctant to improve around the field very wide on the track, as he felt that his mount was not travelling well enough to be successful in the event if it was ridden in that manner, and he therefore elected to restrain to a trailing position near the 500m behind KIMHORSEDASHIAN in an endeavour to improve into the race as he felt it was one of the favourite runners in the event. He went on to say that in the early stages of the home straight he was then able to improve into the race behind the eventual winner of the race, POOLENZO, however his mount was unable to quicken with that runner and, in his opinion, only ran on fairly over the concluding stages. Stewards noted the explanation.

PLUCKANI - As Apprentice B. Nothdurft was to be overweight, Apprentice R. Payne was substituted as rider. Stewards accepted Apprentice B. Nothdurft’s explanation regarding this matter.

Race 3: GC EVENT HIRE BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1875M

KURRAJONG DRAGON – Slow to begin.

CAPTAINS WAY – Raced wide in the early stages.

PRINCE MORPHEUS – Steadied to avoid the heels of a tiring runner approaching the 300m.

WAR FRONT – Slow to begin.

Race 4: YELLOWGLEN QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

ANGEL DANE – After being caught wide in the early stages, the filly was restrained by its rider in an endeavour to obtain a position closer to the rail, however was unable to do so and, as a result, was forced to race wide throughout. Shifted in abruptly near the 250m despite the efforts of its rider.

BRENDA – Bumped at the start.

DREAM OF FRANCE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Checked to avoid the heels of another runner near the 250m.

EXCEED TO WIN – On return to scale, jockey K. Yoshida reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.

REDNAZAR – On return to scale, Apprentice T. Williams reported that her mount raced greenly throughout. Buffeted between runners on jumping away, and was steadied from heels shortly after the start. Steadied from heels near the 400m.

REMEMBER BELLA – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

Race 5: CROWE HORWATH BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 870M

BISMARC – Began awkwardly.

TYCOON ZIP – Hung out from the 500m.

Race 6: MOORE TRAILERS BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1300M

As jockey N. Thomas was injured and unable to ride at the Toowoomba meeting today, jockey A. Allen was substituted as the rider of ELLAWISDOM.

REAL MYSTIQUE – Tightened for room and steadied from the heels of ATOUCHMORE which shifted in when insufficiently clear over the concluding stages. G. Geran, the rider of ATOUCHMORE, was reprimanded as a result of this incident.

RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Slow into stride. Hung out rounding the home turn.
