BrennanStewards Secretary – M. Weir GENERAL Due to the rail position, the starting distances of Races 1, 3, 4 and 5 were amended as follows: Race 1 – 1210mRace 3 – 1110mRace 4 – 1650mRace 5 – 1650m Race 1: RANGEVILLE A1 WOMEN CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1210M SMASHED IT – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. BLACK CRUSADE – Made contact with the running rail near the 900m resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced. SIR BAM – Laid in for the majority of the home straight. Apprentice H. English accidentally struck Beau Appo, the rider of BRED FOR LUCK, with her whip leaving the 100m. OUR ROCKY – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Stanley reported that the gelding did not travel comfortably on the tight turning track however, when placed under pressure in the home straight, ran on fairly. WAKE UP SAILOR – Hung out from the 800m. Steadied from the heels of SIR BAM (Apprentice H. English) which shifted in over the concluding stages. Apprentice H. English was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. CANTON ROAD – Made contact with the running rail at the 900m. Race 2: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M The start of this race was delayed when a number of runners became fractious in the enclosure and upon entering the track. OUR NICK – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. THE CAPTAIN’S LADY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Apprentice B. Nothdurft could offer no explanation for the mare’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer B. Currie was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic exam, prior to being permitted to race again. KING’S MEN – Tightened for room at the start. ATOMIC MISSILE – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. PIC’S PEARL – Began awkwardly. SIDEREUS DISCORD – Blundered on jumping away. Race 3: PRYDE’S EASIFEED BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1110M SONG ONE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that he had intended to obtain a forward position however, after being caught wide in the early stages, he believed he would be required to overly pressure the horse to obtain that position. He added that he attempted to restrain to a position closer to the rails, however he was unable to obtain a position one off the fence and, as a result, he was obliged to race 3 wide. Apprentice B. Nothdurft was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the end of the race. MASSIVE ATTACK – Had to be steadied after improving onto heels near the 600m. Race 4: NUTURF BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1650M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to ensure that RISING LUCK (Apprentice N. Keal) had carried its allotted weight throughout the race, as Stewards were concerned that packing may have been displaced as a result of Apprentice Keal’s saddle shifting shortly after the start. Stewards found that the packing was lost when Apprentice Keal suffered a seemingly harmless fall on pulling up, and were therefore satisfied that the horse had carried its allotted weight throughout the race. Correct weight was subsequently declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers. CONGELATOR – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Raced fiercely approaching the 1200m and, as a result, shifted out to a 3 wide position for a short distance. Trainer P. Cartledge explained that, in her opinion, the horse’s pre-race behaviour was a major contributing factor to the horse’s disappointing performance. She added that the gelding was some 6 weeks between runs, and it will therefore take a benefit from this race. RHIATENN ROAD – Jockey N. Tomizawa reported that he had intended to ride his mount with cover, however as WICKED TRILOGY shifted away from the fence leaving the 1300m it placed RHIATTEN ROAD in a 3 wide position, and at that point N. Tomizawa allowed his mount to stride forward to settle outside the leader. N. Tomizawa added that his mount travelled well from that point, however it was unable to sprint under its allotted 58 kilograms. He also stated that, in his opinion, the horse is not a good weight carrier. RISING LUCK – Apprentice N. Keal’s saddle shifted shortly after the start, placing him at a disadvantage throughout the race. MANDRYKA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 200m until the 100m. BENICO’S PRINCE – Had to be steadied approaching the 1200m when CONGELATOR shifted out abruptly whilst racing fiercely. Race 5: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS MAIDEN PLATE – 1650M BENICSTRESS – Tightened for room at the start. SCHWARZY – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Apprentice N. Keal could offer no explanation for the gelding’s disappointing performance. INOCCIN – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no significant findings. Trainer G. Green advised that the horse would now be retired from racing. D’LEEAJET – Slow to begin. SHADOW QUEEN – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Race 6: POTTERS BOUTIQUE HOTEL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M NOBLE BILLY – Slow to begin. TOO HARD TO RATTLE – Hung out rounding the home turn. BY THE LAW – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Shied and shifted out approaching the winning post. HUGHSTAAD – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 900m. MISHANI PILGRIM – When questioned by Stewards, jockey S. Bogenhuber advised that the mare travelled comfortably throughout, and when asked to improve near the 700m the horse quickened for a short distance, however upon straightening it had come to the end of its run and proved disappointing. Stewards noted the explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Race 7: #DOLLYSDREAM QTIS 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M BRUTUS – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. GOLD MONARCH – As jockey Bradley Appo was indisposed due to illness, jockey N. Evans was substituted as rider. LETITRIPPOTATOCHIP – Got its head in the air whilst being restrained near the 750m. SINGAPORE FLING – Knuckled on jumping away, and shifted out bumping BRUTUS. Steadied from heels after being crossed near the 750m. Raced greenly in the home straight.
