Race 1: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT MAIDEN PLATE – 1625M

LEGACY WARS – Slow into stride.

ROCKING OSSIE – Slow into stride. Buffeted by another runner and forced wider on the track near the 900m and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder.

NEVER IN DOUBT – After being caught wide in the early stages, jockey M. McGillivray permitted his mount to stride forward to obtain a leading position near the 1200m.

HONEST NATALIE – Forced wider on the track by another runner for a short distance passing the 1200m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

SHE’S RELIABLE – Shifted out, and made contact with another runner, when attempting to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

VAISHALI – Forced wider on the track by another runner in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey G. Colless could offer no explanation for the filly’s disappointing performance other than it may be better suited over further distances. In light of the horse’s performance today, and following a veterinary examination, it was determined that the filly will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to racing again.

VELITES – Raced wide from the 800m. Forced wider on the track by another runner in the early stages of the home straight.

TUSCAN TENOR – Raced keenly in the early stages.

Race 2: TOOWOOMBA OUTDOOR POWER PRODUCTS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1625M

BRAINS – After being caught wide in the early stages, the gelding was restrained by its rider near the 1400m to a position closer to the running rail and, as a result, settled further back in the field than anticipated. Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

EVOLO – Slow to begin and lost valuable ground.

ROSADOR – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which weakened over the concluding stages, revealed no significant findings. Apprentice E. Ljung could offer no explanation for the mare’s disappointing performance. Trainer J. Dann expressed disappointment in the performance, and stated that the mare had been working satisfactorily leading up to today’s race. He added that, despite the post-race veterinary examination revealing no significant findings, he will have the mare examined by his stable veterinarian in the coming days, and undertook to report to Stewards should any abnormalities which may have affected the horse’s performance come to light.

WICKED QUEEN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 3: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 2000M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards permitted the connections of SHE SALUTES, the third placegetter, to view the photo finish print.  After viewing the print, the connections were satisfied with the Judge’s semaphored numbers.

GWAPO – Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained in the early stages. Jockey A. Allen reported that his mount commenced to overrace after being crossed in the early stages, and he had some difficulty settling the gelding. He added that the gelding raced very one paced today and, in his opinion, may be better suited leading its events rather than being ridden with cover as it was today.

SHEEZINAJAM – Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung out rounding the home turn.

DELANEY’S DESIRE – Jumped with its head in the air and lost ground.

Race 4: POTTERS BOUTIQUE HOTEL QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

BLUEBROOK – Steadied from heels whilst racing keenly near the 700m. Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Jockey J. Orman reported that it was his intention to settle further forward on the gelding however, after beginning only fairly, he was further hampered by another runner shortly after the start and, as a result, settled further back in the field than he had anticipated.

BACK CHAT – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in over the concluding stages.

MISTER JUDGE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

OUR MOMENTO – Steadied from heels in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages and was steadied from heels for some distance near the 700m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance approaching and rounding the home turn.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to enable jockey J. Orman to view the Stewards patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether LOVE YA MRS was afforded a fair start. After viewing the film jockey Orman was satisfied that his mount was afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared.

LOVE YA MRS – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Placed in restricted room and lost ground near the 900m after improving to the inside of FOX FORCE FIVE which shifted in marginally.

DANSEZ – Steadied to avoid heels near the 900m.
